Hello, I would like to find some USA schools with strong engineering programs which are easier to get into compared to top schools. Safeties are fine too

Location/Region: International student. Something not rural, but university towns are okay

Major: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer science in decreasing order

GPA/Test Scores: Average: 93.5 (out of 100), SAT: 1570, AP: 5 exams of 5, 1 exam of 4, IELTS: 8.5

Curriculum: AI or project based programs would be a plus, but not a dealbreaker

Size: Not leaning to anything particular

Costs: possibility for an international student to gain aid

Schools You're Currently Looking At: For my top schools, I applied to Stanford and UofT, which is why I am looking for safer options

they have a high acceptance rate, they have a pretty good engineering, and are very focused on emerging technologies like AI + project based learning is their whole shtick, but not so great with aid

  • definetly not rural

Also look into RIT, they are a little more computer focused than WPI, but less project based. They give good merit aid to internationals though (18kish).

Looking at schools with good co-op and work study programs is definitely important (good co-ops pay well), because you will almost never find a school that meets 100% need for internationals.
