#Tulane University (2023-2024)
1 messages Ā· Page 2 of 1
we'll see in like 15 mins tho
oh yeah gotcha
Why not an acceptance
hoping for an acceptance
cause thats not gonna happen haha
Not applying at all
i wanna ed 2
why not?
U never know
Nah you got it bro
yeah you never know
Worst case defer
true true
unless you skipped the essay then yeah you might get deffered
But you can deffo get in
deferred
Uh idk she went to a private school for high school
Yeah
Oh mb I thought I saw you say you were applying RD
yeah i liked my essay but i bombed my freshman year gpa so thats why
they kinda have a low average GPA
haha
Itās haulistic
youll be fine
I feel like ppl know not to look at freshman grades too close
truee
Thatās very common
Nah I just joined the thread to see how it goes + keep a watch
If thereās an upward trend it should be fine
we're just anticipating the results man
i actually rlly like the school
i like the AO's in person
theyre nice people
same
Yeah I am excited to see you guys get in!
thats crazy how they have a whole dude on survivor working at the school
and i like how the students actually like the school
Yeah
you see ivy league students do nothing but complain about the difficulty of the school
well shoot we dont have much time left
oh wait
does anyone know if itll be within any time at 4 pm or if we're all gonna get a decision at the same time
Same time
i think it said at 4pm
did anyone else say they were interested in the spring scholar enrollment? š
felt like yesterday when i was grinding on the why tulane
no, i dont like studying abroad
sounds like too much money
i think it just means you start attending tulane in the spring but they say that like they usually go to some country like italy/spain for the fall
oooh ok that makes sense
rlly like this school though
beautiful campus and great culture, but HORRIBLE price
7 mins to goo
i have no clue what this school wants
Lollll
money
that aint gonna work out with me tho
5 minutes š
ima just log out and prepare myself
see y'all in a lil bit
Good luck!!
gl!
they are out
W
I GOT IN!
yield protected š
Aww Iām sorry
nah im aight ty tho
denied lol
Aww
ilovecheerio asks: /poll What are your results?
1ā£: accepted
2ā£: deferred
3ā£: rejected
Accepted!
ACCEPTED!!
Yay!!!
congrats yall
Accepted w 60K merit scholarship!
Omg ok Tulane popping off!!
w
I didn't apply for any scholarships though
WOW CONGRATS!!
I didn't know they gave them anyway
Did anyone else get distinguished scholars award?
25k/yr, 100K total merit scholarship!!
Same!
Thatās so awesome!!!
Yāall slayed so hard
ah i got 20k you beat me!
Yay!!
THIS IS CRAZY AWESOME
š„³
Yāall really said Tulane you better accept us
no option for lost interest and withdrew app last minute š
I got in
ay im sad i got rejected but im glad yall got in, if all things go well i wouldnt have gone anyway
congrats yall
Thank you
Congrats!
Bigger and better things are waiting for you dw
Sure you will end up in a good spot
Congrats!!
Did yall get the invite to the honors scholars thing?
Dayum reject 4.0 33 š
I actually wanted to go kinda
Good job to everyone who got in
oh man
i'm sure there are better things in store for you
^
same bro 3.8 34 700 comm service hours in junior eyar
i showed no demonstrated interest but they were my #3 school
Frrrr
I mean I was surprised by not even a deferral
Cousin also get rejected and was valedictorian š
Iām sad I did try to do some DI
idk
Maybe even with that it wasnāt enough unfort
alright im BACK!! GOT IN, 20k merit scholarship
lots of public ivies and a few other private T20s political science
I know lots of people accepted ED none EA
did they release the full ride merit scholarship decisions yet?
If I got deferred, then switch to ED Ii, is it likely I get a merrit scholarship? I have 3.85 UW and 1500 SAT
i got in test optional
i think thats in march
ah ok ty
gonna be 100% with ya it prob wont be much
they say it themselves, the ED merit pool is small
well fortunately, the competition for the tulane scholarships are lowkey small
Shit can u give a rough range of what u thinking
im not sure actually
Ight ight
LETS GOO PEAR
Got in EA test optional, 3.82 GPA UW, Good ecs but nothing insane, I do have a national leadership position though.
YOU DESERVE IT
good luck with scholarships everyone
thank you
what was your merit award?
would it be in the letter?
yes
oh sorry to hear that man
i have like 0 clue how they give merit scholarships
reddit is pretty silent about tulane today huh
Rejected as a 3.8 unweighted, test optional, NASA intern, three national awards
nah this is insane
how much demosntrated interest?
How do you demonstrate interest? Early decision??
that is one and you do it by like visiting campus, emailing admission officers, attending virtual sessions, etc
i got deferred
iām honestly surprised because i didnāt show any demonstrated interest & was test optional
i was expecting a rejection
Demonstrated interest is so annoying dude
oh yeah i thought they'd defer without much demonstrated interest
i mean hey that means youre a qualified student thats great right
yeah iām happy lol
so are you gonna do ED 2, try your chances out at RD, or withdraw your app?
best of luck, be sure to demonstrate interest
my state schools have better business programs than tulane lol
thats a rough applicant pool over there
i will. i think the clout of my school carried
i know you can do it if you dindt full out get rejected
im pretty sure
okay thanks
you can probably just have it on in the background. they shut it off after like 30 mins
but i think it'd be best if you participate
but tulane isnt dumb im pretty sure zoom will know if youre on another tab yk?
Awe Iām sorry those are great stats
got in to tulane!!!
omg congrats im so happy for you
howd it go with your frined though @vocal zenith
thank you
deffered 4.0 uw, 5.7 w, 1510 sat, 9-10 valedictorian, coke semi-finalist š¤·āāļø
seriously????
yield protection bruh
how much demonstrated interest?
oh ok thats why
yeah they care too much about demonstrated interest
Rejected
Harsh but are we surprised
š
well no but i did kinda wanna see how that would end up
i thought just maybe a deferral?
0 demonstrated interest, 22 ACT, below a 3.0 GPA, essay was literally just āTulane has a library and I like books. Tulane is small and I like small places.ā She let me read it
Nah as someone also rejected this makes me like bruh
And 1 extracurricular which was she quit 2 years ago^
Like I didnāt do much demonstrated but like my essay was at least mid
Whatās the difference for deferral and rejection ?
Cuz then why wouldnāt they defer
@gusty quiver Iām assuming they did filter out people based on stats and did instant rejects to be able to go through everyoneās apps
Iām sad they didnāt at least defer like I couldāve shown more interest
If they did thatā¦..
makes sense
oh yeah the odds were never rlly in their favor with that
agreed. No way they did all of that in like 40 days š«¤
i don't think it's a bad essay, there just wasn't much Tulane specific. you could smack any other college name on that essay and it would still make perfect sense yk? it wasn't special to tulane
Yes, nothing that was specific to Tulane was mentioned in your essay so that might have been why
Donāt send your essay
Also guys!!
unc? i wish u good luck
did you show demonstrated interest? congrats!
I did a tour in March, so yes. Outside of that, just opened emails and read through the website. Thank you!!!
Loci, visits, virtual events, etc
I got rejected, although for early action (got that extremely early). Wasn't expecting to get accepted, as I applied because it was free
oh yeah the people that apply just cause its free with no required essay get IMMEDIATELY weeded out
I honestly expected it..
My father and I generally just look at world rankings and just found out Tulane was on par with universities with easier acceptances like Clemson and Ohio State.
Sorta gave up on Tulane thatās probably why.
Damn how did I get in
What kind of schools are as hard as Tulane to get into
I imagine Tulane to be on the same caliber as like Northeastern and other "t50" schools
I wrote the essay, supplement, and showed interest. All of the above, though I wasn't expecting an acceptance
oh well it depends on how good the essay actually was and what this interest was
and like uMiami and Boston College
I know BC is a little harder to get into
ok bruh off topic but im looking at the tulane class of 2028 instagram and where is the diversity ????? š
i dont like talking about race like that but like i've seen only 4 black students, and 2 of them seemed to only have pictures with exclusively white people
but this is early decision though hopefully they switched things up with early action
makes me wonder how enjoyable an education there will actually be with such a lack of diversity. i just hope they start being generous to more low income/first generation/underrepresented students this application season
i really doubt the title #1 party school but I do know that New Orleans is a pretty vibrant city so i can kinda get it but I looooowkey think I might hang out at Loyola more or something
but i do kinda wanna know what a tulane party will be like cause if its just drinking and drugs then i dont want it but i do wanna go to the kinda parties where you just chill out and eat pizza and listen to music and stuff
For real š Idk how to feel about that
There will probably be both types but mainly the drinking ones
i mean they have multicultural clubs and stuff but I can't rlly see much good coming out of a school with like exclusively rich people like that. good school though. I'm gonna see how good the need based aid is, I might not need to get like the legislator scholarship or any of the merit scholarships if my need aid is good enough with that Louisiana promise
I'm avoiding the parties though ngl
I'm kinda curious on how hard Tulane exactly is. so they say they work hard and play hard but how hard do they even work? is it rlly that rigorous?
Run the net price calculator!!
Not as rigorous as other top schools but still decently difficult
They still have to do a fair amount but itās not overwhelmingly difficult like some top schools are
Well, not hard enough to make them stop partying as much š
Iām not a big fan of parties either so idk about how Iāll fit in if I went there
@gusty quiver just got into LSUās Ogdenās college a few minutes ago!
just got the mail too, was gonna ask the same thing. only waiting for scholarships now which I doubt they'll give
yeah that's why I could never go to MIT like sure I would be in a position to get a great job but I would practically be a zombie lol
well HOPEFULLY Tulane went experimental and accepted more low income/underrepresented students so the entire population isn't just one type of people
Yeah, Iām sure they are tho because the rankings are emphasizing the graduation rates of first gen low income students a lot more, so they basically have to accept more FGLI kids if they want to get their rank back from 73 ā> 44
well that's good. yk i wanna know if anyone else in Louisiana got into Tulane cause ik there's some rlly prestigious schools out here and stuff I kinda wanna know who's in the competition for like the legislator/Louisiana excellence scholarships
1 other person (i think) in my graduating class of almost 400 has their eyes on tulane
online school sucks though, my extracirriculars werent that good and my letters of rec couldn't reach their full potential. glad I'm graduating from it
The legislative scholarship is rlly difficult to get ahold of bc most legislators get asked rlly early on for the form, and they almost always choose to nominate the same people every year for the scholarship
The only reason I was able to get someone was bc my family friend happened to know them
And we asked like last year to save a spot for me š
oh gotcha, good to know. Well I might not trip over it then, my need based aid SHOULD be good enough.
life has been crazy though I did not expect to actually get into this school š
are we supposed to do like those tulane class of 2028 Instagram groupchats and stuff?
Well idk about that with that one Harvard incident with the Facebook GC...
Did you try running the npc? It will give a fairly accurate estimate of total financial aid
yeah I'll get to it soon, just been busy lately
also isn't the legislative scholarship like not only for incoming freshman? just realized that too, wouldn't everyone have to compete with the Louisiana students already at Tulane?
bru I got my scholarship offer at LSU and it's only 13k including tops š @vocal zenith
these people seriously just offered me 5550 thousand dollars per year
If I said I do not plan for needing need based aid can I still get it
Or is it 100% not
Yes itās for all freshman-seniors
šš
Hmm Iām not sure
Why did you choose that option tho?
oh wow you must have some really good connections to be winning that scholarship. also I did a FAFSA estimate and with the Louisiana promise no loan assistance, I might get a full ride to this school without even needing a prestigious scholarship!
im still relieved AF that I didn't have to switch to ED 2 though. I do have some concerns with the school of professional advancement so I'll email my AO about that but ik they're on a break rn so I'll wait till school comes back up
Yeah! small town perks & heās the legislator of my district so Iāve seen him around
And wow congratulations! Your aid will be around that net price given
sounds sweet, hope it goes well for ya. I'm just over here thinking about how tulane is about to give aid that's a million times better than LSU despite their big prestige gap š
Yeah, private schools actually give much better aid than even in state publics if your household income is less than 100k with minimal assets
do you know what we could be doing while waiting for aid packages and submitting deposits? i think I might just apply to some scholarships for LSU and email my tulane AO about the SOPA stuff cause I don't think their need aid is gonna pay for what I wanna do
I saw the article Owen released and woah a 11% acceptance rate that's crazy
im SO glad I didn't get deferred cause idk I mightve just given up, no way I would've did the contract. college admissions are scary, that stuff just keeps getting more and more competitive
Iād sell my soul to meet Owen Knight š
my Roman Empire is seeing Owen and Hai post on bourbon street the day after I left nola
RIP
For real, a 34% increase in EA applications?? Thatās insane
Where is that
i had a short conversation with him cause i was scared about not getting any emails from them. he put me back on the marketing and stuff. hes nice
it was at a campus preview day. all of the AO's were there
OMGGGGGG LUCKY
Yo
This is a dumb question
But like why is Tulane acceptance rate lower than WashU but deemed to be āeasierā to get into
Tulane has a heavy bias on early decision with a 66%
Tulane is free, doesn't require an essay, and they send milliones of emails, unlike WashU.
Tulane is also not that hard to get into so long as you do ED or show heavy demonstrated interest with stats in their range, while with WashU, I believe they have a more holistic process and cares more about qualified applicants instead of interested applicants
Tulane games the system (what pear said above) to lower their acceptance rate. Donāt let it fool you!
Theyāre most known for doing that (along with northeastern)
Which is why I gave up on Tulane
To those that get rejected itās not your fault
To make this better, the valedictorian of my school and 3 international awards got rejected by Tulane because he didnāt show ādemonstrated interest.ā
Which is kinda a wth moment
Did they want to go or applied just for the heck of it?
Theyāll definitely get somewhere a lot better tho
I mean he did not apply ED but EA, but he did show up to virtual sessions for Tulane.
But only two.
But to still get rejected EA just proves heavy emphasis on ED.
Maybe cause they thought he just wouldnāt attend the school
I got in ea and I have 0 award
Although I have decent grades and good Edās
ECs
I am not valedictorian I heard case western did this aswell
nah same, and I had like 0 leadership in my EC's too. I quite literally only did community service for my extracirriculars, and tulane is kinda heavy on that so I guess that helped. BUT I did show a lot of interest, so that definitely helped a ton
Do you guys get told when your ccs profile is accepted or do you just automatically know when your package is revealed
I believe it'll say it's received in the Gibson portal on the to do section. For the packages I'm not sure when or how they reveal those
Where do you see that
I have no idea man, i don't wanna mess with those things until i actually decide to go
im not even sure what im supposed to do with the "reply to admission"
im not messing with anything until im 100% sure i wanna go or until i get told that i immediately need to do something
Okay, just make sure you upload any documents they need because thatās for need based aid
oh yeah they are asking for like tax stuff, I'll be sure to do that. thanks
does anyone have a good idea on how stressful Tulane is? like is it the kind of difficult to where you'd be working your butt off all day like Stanford/MIT students would, or is it just really not that prestigious of a school, or is it somewhere in the middle of both? Like I expect a little academic rigor but I want to know if its like ridiculously challenging or if its managable but just difficult
Prob best to ask this on r/Tulane
Iām not sure, but I know thatās itās very collaborative for a prestigious school
per my tour guide
alright they basically just said that its rlly hard if youre doing already hard majors, but other than that, it is genuinely a high quality and rigorous education that might be more difficult than normal state schools, but its a lot better cause of more accessible professors and more elite resource s
Ohh gotcha, thank you for letting me know!!
i was mainly confused on why Tulane was considered one of the most stressful colleges but then had some of the happiest students and is a top party school??? i couldn't tell if it was because they were genuinely a work hard play hard environment, if the people just partied and disregarded their actual college work, or if Tulane is just a stressful school but in a really fun area
im not saying i expect an easy education but i certainly don't want an impossible one
Itās a kind of difficult but definitely doable academic environmentāI mean, you can even make the time to party if you want. It just means that the students can balance their lives very well, and since itās known for having the happiest students, I highly doubt that thereās going to be an impossible load of work
Thereās Tulane students who are able to double, even triple major and still graduate on time (Iāve asked about this before)
oh yeah they do have a pretty unique cirriculum, i mentioned it in my why tulane. its not like normal state schools where the major is kinda rooted on all sorts of classes, like Tulane majors are usually only 30 credits without any electives or other required classes or anything
ngl i actually rlly wanna go here
have you guys checked out those tulane class of 2028 instagram pages? anyone know if theyre worth fooling around with?
Welcome back to Instagram. Sign in to check out what your friends, family & interests have been capturing & sharing around the world.
i dont like how they cost money though
The girl to guy ratio is already on the insta page
Like the difference in the amount
ššš
i always wondered why Tulane has such a strong women to men ratio tbh. always thought that was weird
Yeah does anybody got the answer?
girls just wanna have fun
well i aint complaining
Yeah same
DO NOT PAY MONEY
Why the hell would you pay $8 for a sliver of a chance to receive a few DMs from people youāll probably lose contact with by the time school starts
If ur interested in figuring out who has money then sure, lurk on the page and dm people you find to be interesting who have so much money theyāre willing to spend $8 on an insta post
Also these pages never bother to care if someoneās actually going to a school so you may be wasting your time
We found one dude last year who posted on 5 accepted UC insta pages claiming he was excited to attend each one of them
I figured, I was just gonna wait till I get to join clubs and do the events and stuff
Crawfest looks kinda overrated ngl
poboy fest looks a lot better
if i donāt sent the continued interest thing will i get rejected or just never hear back
Iām not sure but I highly recommend sending a letter of continued interest ASAP.
i thought i had until january 15
Thatās fine, but just make sure you do it. It increases your chances of acceptance by a good bit if you continue demonstrating interest
youre done for if you dont do that in the REGULAR DECISION round
keep in mind that 1% acceptance rate
the AO's can unfortunately tell
iād rather go to my state school since i probably wonāt get scholarships
they love yield protecting
thatās why i was deferred and not straight up rejected
i get what you mean though, i have state schools as my top choice with Tulane as my reach
private unis are overrated
surprised i was deferred **
theyre good but theyre not something to lose sleep over
theyre basically telling you to do ED2 or get rejected tbh
well i wouldnt say rejected but your chances are just rlly low
even if i got in, i donāt think iād go
like lower than MIT
the AO's can unfortunately tell
iām from florida and already have 75% off tuition + in-state tuition
tulane is on like the exact same level as schools like university of florida/miami tbh
thatās why i asked this before
well not florida but miami
iām not applying to miami
forgot how good UF is
too expensive
and its public
oh i've heard good things about like florida state and florida international
i applied/got into both
the only florida school i even see people hate on is Full Sail tbh
i was like if iām going to miami i might as well go to fiu
yeah you're better off just going there imo, Tulane only wants people who are desperate for them
4 years at FIU = 1 at UM cost-wise
thats insane though
ikr
its like that with tulane too š a year at tulane is 4 years at a state school
i can promise you im only applying here cause its the best school in my state, i dont live far from it, and i get guaranteed aid
if i didn't i would not care about this school that much tbh
i guess i could do the continued interest just to see if iād get in but i havenāt been rejected from anywhere yet and I donāt want to lose my streak lol
itās kind of inevitable tho
just be mindful that you have to write a good one, there's deferred people who are desperate to go and will write very passionately
and i mean a GOOD GOOD one
you might not get rejected from Tulane but they waitlist a lot in RD i think
wait is that not what a letter of continued interest is?
oh yeah thanks
it looks like this
Unless you are absolutely content on going to Tulane, it ain't worth doing all that work. Three are people desperate to get into these schools (cough, cough Louisiana residents).
If you got acceptances that you prefer, stick to them would be my advice
oh ok, i thought it was like an email you had to send
im confused how are louisiana residents desperate to get in?
i always thought out of state students applied to tulane
i want to get in for the recognition
and happy students
iād only go if it ended up cheaper than my state school
Whoever, there's always people looking to get into somewhere desperately. Plaques ain't worth more than that
hes right though, youre gonna be competing with ppl who are a lot more desperate to go than you, and theres only so much spots
me too but this has been my only deferral so it might be different for other schools
their aid SUCKS for out of state students, just gonna be honest
unless youre rlly poor of course
if youre from a steady 100,000 income household then good luck
i think i only got deferred because of my school
well whats up with your school?
well idk if they count both households or stepparents so i genuinely donāt know how my financial aid will be
itās a t20 highschool (idk if youād still use that terminology but u get it)
im not sure how that would make you deferred. is it cause the people that go are likely to attend more prestigious schools?
if so then wow Tulane is really petty for that
no iām saying i think they didnāt reject me because they think i could succeed there as long as i showed more demonstrated interest
but also yes
Like I didn't apply to my state school (UT Austin) because hosuing costs & Austin being so damn expensive.
I applied to Tulane because it was free, wasn't planning on attending
that too tbh i didnāt even think of that
UF does that to my school
yeah they can tell if people apply cause of that and i wanna say they immediately reject anyone like that
the whole yield protection thing is so DUMB
i know š
like dang iām not even that smart
i got lucky
like sometimes i feel dumb compared to the students in my school
let me in
i think you would thrive at your normal state school tbh
I did all the works, asked about the school, attending the live meetings. I'm pretty sure it was my GPA + lack of good ECs (spent lots of time as a welder/diesel technician)
I just wouldn't attend because the cost is so damn high
if things dont work out at Tulane for me financially or academically, then I have no problem with going to my state school
i think i could too but gainesville and tallahassee are meh
oh okay. what was your GPA, just curious?
my EC's were pretty bad too. i had like no leadership
i did have a lot of community service though
the price is crazy though
3.89/5 (W) scale, test optional. 43 credit hours from the local UT university.
i didnāt realize they see that
oh that doesnt sound too bad, im not sure why they deferred/rejected
maybe theyāll think iām lying about my ecās š§
no clue
i hate applying to college
I have voluteering on there but I never logged the hours since I already had 164
i wish all colleges were like state schools where they just accept you and give you a fat scholarship
i have a ton of safeties if Tulane doesn't work out
I feel like I didn't apply to many reaches
Who knows, my decision chart is all over the place. Rejected from UT Dallas, but accepted with 17.5k scholarship to Illinois Tech. Waiting on the rest
I'm getting anxious thinking that I need more
lowkey
too competitive, not much good scholarships, and a pretty competitive environment
Worst thing is idek what other reaches I could do
Also, what state school did you get accepted to? Congratulations, regardless
Do you know when the aid packages come out?
It is really competitive tbh
i think april but i dont know
I got into FIU honors & FSU (hopefully honors). Still waiting for UF
yeah ngl if i was an out of state student i prob wouldn't even bother applying to tulane
just me personally i like staying home
I wouldn't live at home regardless so it doesn't really matter to me
I mean no school is instate for me
I lowkey wish I was still in Cali
UC instate is so nice
Awesome! If you are going to graduate school, just attend a T300 school, keep good grades, get internships, and build relevant experience.
T300 will do you good, unless you want to keep w/bachelor's (then depends on market & university to university)
I applied to 4 in Cali I think. Got into 2 so far š
honestly i see Cali schools the same way y'all see Tulane - way too expensive and not even worth my time
š
Depends the school but yh lmao
I feel like more schools will give more aid this year tho cause I heard the new ranking formula favors that
Might be wrong
yeah I'm hoping on doing internships but I haven't even began to look at graduate programs since im debating between tort law and business. I might end up doing an mba/jd program
I'd rather go to Cali than Louisiana tbh
- I want to do entertainment business so I could get internships at Netflix/youtube/etc easier
Yeah, doing business here as well (graduate school later after saving). Probably going to Texas Tech because of that presidential scholarship, so don't worry about attending FSU/UF.
As long as the college I attend will take most of my credits, and isn't too expensive, I think I'll be okay
AP credits or dual enrollment?
cause if its dual enrollment then Tulane never would have worked out
Both
they only take in half a semester of credits for dual enrollment
and you need a 4 or higher for AP
What does that mean
theyll only take 15 dual enrollment credits
equivilent of 5 classes
yeah theyre pretty picky, but they make up for it with the open cirriculum
the majors arent littered with all sorts of prerequisites and electives and stuff
so its easy to get 2 and even 3 at Tulane
if you feel thats the right thing to do, then go for it
also
the money pool for regular decision probably sucks
all scholarship money def went to EA to get all the underrepresented students
iām underrepresented š¢
same
and i got 20k from them
my stats suck in comparison to the average A2C member
i got 88k from an oos school so that was cool
congratulations
woah thats rlly good
gonna assume thats sarcasm lol
i meant like i can't really be compared to the kids getting into the ivys like that
oh
i wasn't president of 5 dif clubs and i didn't start any crazy nonprofit or get an internship at Apple, i literally just helped around in my community
i started a nonprofit but it def wasnāt anything crazy
it was like a summer project
so i guess me neither
i did NONE of that
i didnt have any AP/IB tests either
i have some club roles but no president
me neither
im also online schooled so my letters of rec were definitely weaker than average
oh wow
but i countered that by making a brag sheet of mine
whereād u get urs?
my bio and literature teacher
a brag sheet?
i asked chat GPT to make an outline for me
thats pretty much it
thank you. it was worth it
this was my prompt - You're a college admissions expert. Here's what I need: a letter of recommendation. However, I am online schooled and therefore do not have much good relationships with any potential recommenders. I am, however, in the likings of many teachers, they just don't know that much about me. They can probably help me but I would need to make a brag sheet for them to write on.
So here's your task, chat GPT. I want you to make a really good outline for creating a brag sheet. Like tell me all the proper questions and information I need my recommenders to know in order for them to make a strong letter of recommendation.
In other words, make me an outline of a "brag sheet" that I can send potential recommenders so they can write a valid letter of recommendation for me.
oh and i also had 0 awards
besides stuff like honor roll
Anybody know when fafsa is due for Tulane
We all did (because the app fee is nothing!)
Oh right
Have you gotten a decision yet? (I did early, it was a rejection)
Early action?
of ED
or ED
Yeah, they released some early (got mine several days ago, so check).
bet
Not ED, wouldn't ever ED to a school I couldn't afford
Did you know the average incoming gpa at Tulane is 3.5
I was floored when I saw that
Iām like
How
Shit, mine was a 3.9W/5 point GPA & still got rejected
Well idk theyāre selective for some reason
I didnāt know Tulane existed before doing college apps ngl
i only know who they are cause I'm in Louisiana myself
welp idk what on earth is up with the fafsa but as soon as i get my aid package im prob gonna commit here
i got in ea
Congratulations! May you actually attend this place debt free
Same
But I love Tulane
Itās great
Does Tulane send acceptance gift packages or nah
Lowkey tryna collect college items ššš
yoo i just did the FAFSA and i qualify for a pell grant
i just have those tax documents left to send, they didnt accept it cause it lacked signatures i think
i was emailing my AO and the dude got my name wrong when i specifically said it š
Wtf thatās insane I swear Pell grant is free tuition
Pell grant goes up to like $7,000/yr but if youāre eligible for Pell grant, colleges that meet full need will most likely give you a full ride
omg this is so good cuz i qualify too š„¹
Ugh I love Tulane so much
It has literally a class in everything I want
I wish it wasnāt so far away
wish i could love tulane thatm uch
how do u see what u qualify for?
i forgot but it said like i qualified for up to 5k in pell grant
lmaoo just got my deferral yesterday
damn rip. hopefully you got into other schools though right?
yea still waiting on 17 more decisions š
doesn't rlly affect me much I don't love any school in particular I just want to go to college in general
I'll be fine at my 80% acc rate state school and at like 3% acc rate Harvard so
WTFFFFFFFFFF I JUST GOT MY AID PACKAGE AT TULANE AND THEY GAVE ME A FULL RIDE šššššššššššš
well they were cheesy and made sure I put all of my pell grant and TOPS towards it but not paying a penny for Tulane???
oh yeah it be like that, idrc about prestige either
congratulations!!
so ur committing?
i more than likely will
Congrats!!! Where did you see that tho? I donāt see anything in my gibson portal
I thought we couldnāt see how much aid we received until fafsa was processed
ššš
Thatās insane
Congrats bro
YAYYYY
They gave me an email on my initial aid package. they said that it will get updated once the FAFSA gets processed, but I don't think it's gonna be much different. I qualify for the Louisiana promise thing and I got a merit scholarship that was a lot more than what my parents could pay for, so they took into factor my Pell grant and tops and made it to where I won't pay anything if I go
thank you
what the hell though the aid award is literally 90k š why are they even so expensive
Im kinda mad I won't be able to cash out my Pell grant or use tops for the summer but I mean going to tulane for free is kinda hard to pass up
how did they get ur fafsa stuff already?
like how did they know your pell grant
im not sure. they say it wasnt received yet, but they did get like my CSS profile and tax documents and stuff. i guess they kinda just estimated what I would get. they were pretty accurate with it ill give it to them
i hope so too
Congratulations! I'm assuming you'll be attending Tulane, then?
would u commute to tulane and pocket the extra money? or live on campus
also i have a question
did it literally say weāre giving you a full ride or did the aid just equal a full ride
i just want to know what to expect when i get my financial aid package
yeah im gonna try to
the aid equals a full ride, like they said i won't be paying any money when I counter into my pell grant and stuff
im also an instate and they have special aid for us so keep that in mind, i got a loan free package
That's the spirit! Planning on going to UArk, so hoping to get in soon
and no im just gonna live on campus. they require anyone that doesnt live in new orleans to im pretty sure anyway
honestly dunno what UArk means
uni of arkansas?
University of Arkansas, the state flagship & #1 nationally for my major
oh gotcha, that does sound pretty sweet
Yeah, can probably swing full tuition, too. Even if I get a major scholarship elsewhere, I'll still end up here. Instate as a Texas resident w/Gpa + Merit scholarships
sounds sweet tbh
thats lucky
state schools didnt rlly give me much aid
If you are in Louisiana & have a 3.9 GPA/5, you qualify for instate. Worth looking at if you are doing business.
Walton School of Business > Freeman School of Business
tbh im done with college apps. they were a pain
wouldnt it be kinda too late for merit scholarships anyway
Nope, Uark is until Feburary 1st & no supplementals required. They are an academics focused college over essays, supplementals, EC's, etc, etc.
Although since you got full ride to Tulane, I wouldn't bother much either. Tulane is a great University and campus
yeah im like an hour away from Tulane, i think im just gonna go there tbh
sounds like a good school you have over there
a million times better than LSU at least
I think LSU ranks higher for everything but business, which is an absolute blowout since Walton is a top 30, and even top 10 on industry rankings
well dang
never expected arkansas to be highly ranked like that tbh
It's like the Rawls College of Business (TTU) here, they don't rank high on US News, but much more respected by Industry reportings & employers. Same with UofH, & UTD (of course)
oh interesting
tbh I never could get into business
Whatās Walton
Nah for business schools in Texas itās 1. UT Austin 2. Rice 3. A&M 4. Everything else
rice has an undergrad business school???
Well kind of
They have a bachelors in business
oh
And concentrations
US News ain't the only rankings, that's for prestige. Industry rankings are more legit, not perfect, but a better representation for major
Also, the one to quote for my major:
https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2022-06-07-gartner-announces-rankings-of-the-2022-north-american-supply-chain-undergraduate-university-programs
Gartner has revealed the Top 25 North American Supply Chain Undergraduate University Programs . Read the press release to learn more. #GartnerSC #SupplyChain
yea but supply chain is one small concentration of business
Theres so many other areas that u Arkansas does not do well in
I bet industry rankings would put mc combs number 1 in Texas
Probably, that's why I said depending on major. So shop around would be the answer
Yall I got a question
any current students or something cuzzz
Is this program for tulane undergrads too?
like can first years join?
This is under the tulane school of medicine tho š
but it says students from tulane med and tulane uni
so i got confused
Iām not to sue about that
Does it not say anything on the website
Also any students that got in early actions dm me
???
??? (Keep the chain going aye)
I got merit aid package but nothing need based yet. (I just submitted FAFSA like 2 days ago tho lmao)
Donāt forget to update your role to hs senior
Done š
Anyone else get emails about the Altman program
yeah i am
Same
same
does anyone know the chances of getting in deferred from EA --> regular
Itās tough buts itās possible
Depends on ur stats
And also I would open their emails they send donāt respond but open it
And go to some virtual events aswell
is tulane really high sat low gpa
youd have to demonstrate a ton of interest if you wanted to get in that way
and yes
This was the last cycle
Just interesting to see
EA accept rate is actually 17% though. Idk why their common data set has it down as 4%
How long did it take for you to get an aid package from Tulane
I got my documents approved a week ago
And still no reply
they'll let you know in your emails im pretty sure
Fafsa hadnāt sent out my docs to colleges yet, am I fine for Tulane?
Ik aid deadline was a few weeks ago for EA I finished fafsa before but still hasnāt been updated in Gibson and fafsa says they are currently sending it
Nah I sent the forms
Yeah but like how much longer
Itās killing me
I think it varies for each person
Last year someone got it in early March
For EA ^
Damn I hope thatās not me
i genuinely have no idea
good luck though
accepted 3.2 UW, 1590, physics, OOS (CA) š
Congrats!!!!
pretty sure tulane dropped from like 44 in the rankings to like 73 this year
does this mean they aren't prestigious anymore
Thatās a pretty significant drop
I know they used to be top university but thatās not their goal anymore
oh
Tulane dropped because newsreports at the time did not take into consideration first-gen.
Now in 2023-2024 they do now.
So Tulane dipped quite a bit because of heavy bias on ādemonstrated interest.ā
okay but still tehy dropped nonetheless
I donāt like this school
I wouldnāt worry too much about rankings. The factors they put into consideration will always be changing, but Tulane as a school has always remained the same.
but the pRESTIGE

Wait when do we send our healthcare forms in
73 in national colleges aint shit
if i trying to see the top performers on social mobility maybe this would matter šš
Why it would it matter
Any other ea people get like a package in the mail from Tulane
Like with your acceptance letter
And like brochure
They spent 9 dollars on my shipping ššš
I got a bracelet and sticker with my acceptance letter
But that was a few weeks ago so maybe thereās another one coming?
Ohh
@gusty quiver how much in TOPS did LSU say youād get? Mine is 1k/year less than what the website says itās supposed to be based on merit
I don't know and I really don't care cause it seems that I didn't qualify for the top merit scholarships so I'm more than likely just gonna go to Tulane
LSU can have fun with their trash scholarships
Apparently everyone got that 13k per year scholarship
Ey congrats on the tulane admits
I wish I could say the same but Iām still waiting for my Tulane financial aid package š
Idk if I should ask the financial aid office about when itās going to come out
im still waiting for my tulane acceptance šā
Same
Anyone got there fin aid package yet?
be patient, they'll email you when it comes
Yeah
How long did it take toy to get after you submitted ur materials
no clue why its taking that long for yall, i got it relatively quickly
What about @graceful merlin
A few weeks
Yeah itās been 2-3 weeks now
I think 3
Just wanna know
Did they give you good aid?
ED2 drops on the 5th
Surely I get aid package before then
nope
how quick lol?
i havent gotten mine yet
I got mine a week after they received my CSS profile and tax documents
And this was Jan 12th
Maybe cause Louisiana but idk
ah okay
oh well hopefully ill get it by then
I only have fafsa missing on my checklist
And everything else was sent weeks ago so idk
Ehhh not worth it
Good luck ED2 applicants
Even though it won't even be luck cause y'all are def getting in
Tulane puts heavy bias on ED applicants
is anyone gonna be attending any admitted student events?
im prob gonna go to the admitted student preview day and thats about it
but idk yet
I donāt think I will because itās a 2 hr 30 minute drive from where I am
My parents wonāt be able to give me a ride bc they have work
i think i will too
so no one applied ed2?
oh it be like that, im gonna go try to get my commitment fee reduced and go to the admitted student preview days and stuff just to see whats up
BUT THE STUPID FAFSA MAN
Prolly not man A2C kids
does anyone know when weāre supposed to submit continued interest by for ea
are any of u guys going to destination tulane stuff
yeah I am
the one on february
but idk im kinda hesitant bc of the FAFSA
im turning to my state school again
Anyone got their aid package yet?
How long did it take you to get it after submitting your stuff
I submitted mine 3-4 weeks ago still nothing back yet
A little over a month
all of it is so much estimation man i dont trust it
Yes, I donāt recommend committing until you get your actual package
Itās going to take so long with the fafsa
Yeah, but isn't LSU not full ride for you? Like still pretty expensive without as much aid? Good Luck and choose what it best for you financially
no LSU is more expensive than Tualne at the moment for me
Yeah, that's what I said, more expensive overall. Hope you get that full Tulane scholarship package & that the estimation isn't all on paper
Like my cheapest & best option happens to be out of state, so I'll be going there (far cheaper by a longshot)
Same for you
when do we get our Tulane emails
Pretty sure they have student hubs and stuff you can join
though I doubt they're active
yeah Tulane was tripping, congrats on Yale! they definitely deferred you cause they knew you were too good
LMFAOOO
all good
i'm not stressing about it
Yeah they prolly thought you wouldnāt take the offer tbh
yup and even if they accept me I won't take it now š
honestly I think it was for fin. aid?
i'm not a us citizen but I put that me and my family could only afford the bare minimum
the 18k i think?
I see I thought they were need blind for all
But oh well you have a awesome choice with Yale
So youāre good
Congrats bro
thank you bro ā¤ļø
bruh I'm on Tulane campus for an admitted student preview day and the AO's admitted to doing yield protection
Thatās so funny
yeah there was a lot
Still wasn't that much diverse though, but they did have the hbcu legacy bowl going on so it was nice to see other black folk on campus for once
i wonder when the merit scholarships are releasing, they said they release "late february"
that is nice to hear at least
lol fr, they have had AMAZING diversity efforts too
at Bienvenue tulane, they fr gave me a free hotel room since i was pell eligable, free breakfast, free lunch, free dinner, and a free tour of new orleans
and the next day free coffee and beneights (at least thats how i think u spell that word)
wait no way
yeah way
it was great
so great i committed today
they're really not playing about representation, i actually felt like i belonged there i was like yeah
š wait how do u find out about the free hotel
aw im really happy for u!
congratulations!
so im an underrepresented student so they offered me an extra preview day for admitted students, Bienvenue Tulane, and they give anyone whos eligable for a pell grant a free hotel room to stay in when you visit new orleans
i want to go to one of the admission things in april
they give the invite to anyone that's a racial minority, LGBTQ+, first gen, or low income im pretty sure
oh i went to the first one
it was GREAT
Bienvenue was 10x better than Destination Tulane though
yeah i think i was offered that but i think it was too soon for me to book everything to visit
this was the only date right
i mean i just think bienvenue tulane was nice cause they got all of the underrepresented students to help organize the event and stuff and we got to talk to them and see what life was like as basically a non-white person at a PWI
yeah i thought so bc of being able to meet other underrepresent students
i dont think so, theres more dates this was just the first one
oh its coming soon just wait
oh thats great ill try to sign up
they had stuff where you could talk to people and make friends, i made like 2
aw thats great
i found some of the girls there to be kinda weird though, ik its a party school and stuff but they were like 17 talking about going to a frat party at midnight and faking their ID and going to 18+ clubs š
š yeah idk i think thats bound to be expected
maybe im just sheltered though but hey thats the #1 party school for you
i just rlly appreciate the diversity efforts of this school
im SO joining a black club when I go
did you apply EA? ED? RD?
if you got in EA you should have already been able to go to the preview days
but bro i love this school so much
yes yes
the AO's are so nice
i just didnt know my aid and stuff
so i didnt want to fly get a hotel and everything
they made an estimate with the CSS profile and it was a full ride and i kinda doubt too much will change with FAFSA so i just went ahead and committed
i get what you mean though
yeah it'd be best for you to wait till march/april to go
plus they have some admitted student virtual sessions to go to in march
Yeah thatās my plan
i cant get over how amazing this school is man
i dont really fit in but the opportunities are great
congrats!
yess thatās so great for u
yeah I think Iāll wait for rd and stuff but itās one of my tops rn
thanks but also be mindful that im a louisiana resident with parents who dont make 6 figures so they have this louisiana promise where they give anyone like that a loan free package
tulane is ridiculously expensive but it has some of the best student life scenes ive ever seen
Yeah that sounds about right
This is nice tho
Howās New Orleans and the surrounding area ig?
its great
is the skl isolated?
new orleans food in general is amazing, but tulane cafreteria food is š

its OK i mean
their eggs were so wet and unseasoned
and the bacon tasted like nothing
idk what skl means
school?
honestly yeah - tulane is like a bubble inside of all of new orleans. the city is horrible with crime and stuff but the area where tulane is at is nice
Yeah sorry
oh I see
idk I kinda want to feel connected to the city but that makes sense
tulane is not that good of a school for that tbh
the people there are pretty much 4 year tourists
i doubt they care about actual new orleans
ive heard they dont rlly try that much with the community service either
thanks
wait reallyš I thought that was kind of big for Tulane
It is a big thing for Tulane, just not for the students. lol be real, do you rlly think a bunch of party people are gonna wanna pick up trash for a few hours
When half the times they're the reason the trash is even there
Oh yeah I thought u meant for the school
How likely do you think acceptance is if I was deferred EA but have been contacting my admissions officer almost daily?
Had a rep come to my school who said someone (who was very underqualified and did RD) did that and she accepted them purely through their dedication because they continually emailed, etc
Iām qualified. But like the RD % is so low so Iām j freaked out
I signed up for springs scholars and have even beeen expressing interest in that program to my rep
sounds like you would just annoy the AO lmao
im pretty sure they said to NOT over-email your AO. do attend virtual sessions and in person events though. email your AO but not every day
