i suggest you make that paragraph not sound like a thesaurus and instead follow the format

#

from what im getting from all that mumbo jumbo is that you're paying for it all, so i highly recommend staying in state
NC state and UNC are both top notch schools

im so sorry for those around you...

but yea when it comes to cutting down your list, remove any that you dont believe will provide merit aid (i.e. out of state publics)

#

i get that youd like to go elsewhere, but cost is/should be a huge factor for you if you're on the hook for it all
nc state will get you great connections so you can nope out of NC in no time

#

if you wanna go out of state, look at unis where you think you have a decent shot at getting merit aid

Hello fellow North Carolinian!!

I think you have a solid list as of right now. NCSU will probably fit better over UNC CS because CS is in the NCSU College of Engineering. However, the Applied Sciences department here at UNC is growing, so a CS/Applied Sciences & Engineering minor may be able to get you the kind of coursework you're looking for. We've also got a lot of clubs and opportunities for more hands-on learning and application. Definitely don't blame you for preferring NCSU over UNC in this case though!

What's your cost looking like? Do you need a not of aid, or can you pay for a lot of these?

I don't know where in NC you're located, but I know we've got some really top notch CCs with transfer agreements to state schools like UNC and NCSU. Two of my friends are doing stuff at WTCC and applying to transfer to NCSU this cycle (chemistry/physics and civil engineering). I can't speak for other CCs through the state, but I know WTCC has some pretty phenomenal courses, professors, opportunities, and things like that, if you want to save some money haha

If you have questions about Applied Sciences, feel free to send them my way!! I'm not minoring in it (yet) but I know of people here who do courses/minors/research in the department :)

Also, big congrats on saving up so much for college. That's truly fantastic and will be a huge weight off your shoulders, even if you choose to take the loan from your parents 🎉

We have quite a few makerspaces around campus with TONS of stuff in them! One of the residence halls (Carmichael?) has one on the ground floor with a bunch of 3D printers and other equipment (and some induction stovetops, which I thought were super cool), and I'm assuming the other makerspaces have equal or greater amounts of equipment. I think there are 4 locations on campus including Carmichael.
The website with more makerspace info (BeAM) is here, definitely recommend checking it out. Some of the tools require you attend training things but they're not hard or time-intensive.

Here are the tools offered in the makerspaces (link here)
