Schools: Brown, Columbia
Intended major: Engineering, Physics
Similarities: prestigious Ivy League, Need aware, colder area.
Note: International Student from India, very good Ec's (International and national level), Junior so will be taking SAT (expected 1520 from practice tests), CBSE curriculum

Columbia
Pros:

  1. In NYC (in a very good city)
  2. One of the best name recognition
  3. Better ranking in engineering

Cons:

  1. Heard core curriculum is very stressful
  2. Heard dorms are very old

Brown
Pros:

  1. Open Curriculum (I think the best thing)
  2. appears quite relaxed and enjoyable
  3. campus feels better in my opinion

Cons:

  1. Its not relatively highly ranked in my major
  2. fewer opportunities compared to NYC

Tiebreaking Considerations:

  1. As an international student which will be more beneficial to apply ED.
  2. I am interested in startups and research, which one would will be better.

Rankings dont rlly mean anything

#

Plus ur not losing many opportunities by being in providence instead of nyc

#

You can apply to the same internships and everything

#

But i think columbia might be better for startups

#

And no difference for tie breaker 1

I’d say Columbia for engineering

#

But both schools seem similar enough academics-wise

How much do u value curriculum? If you want to take a decent amount of classes outside of ur major I would do brown ngl

#

do you need aid?

#

columbia explicitly says they defer most intls asking for aid. not worth it
