#University of Washington (2023-2024)

nope
but u visited a lot surely
🌧️
lmao
do washington residents all respect UW ?
like is it prestigious there or ppl take it for granted
usually only for CS
no its pretty respected for business too
you need 270 credits to graduate?
dawg what are you doing that needs 270
honestly, depends who you ask and what they want out of it
one of my friends is doing film, which uw doesn’t offer
they know it’s good for other people but just not for them
you need 180
45 credits per year for 4 years
15 credits per quarter
if you have ap, ib, uwhs, or transfer credit it’s even less
wtf can u graduate in two years
if u have like 15 ap creds and u take max courses
be careful, iirc they only take up to 90
pretty sure it's going to be around 90
and you’ll need to double check how they transfer
pretty much, though 2 years night be stretching it
i’m planning on doing 3
why is some ap courses only 4 credits wtf 😭
which
ap csa
uw doesn't consider ap scores for admission just for credit right?
yup
100% certain too, because mine were incorrectly reported on my application (after it was submitted so not my fault) so i emailed them about it and they said they’re not
they’ll look at the classes themselves for course rigor but not the scores
ah okay
i'll have like 15 credits by the time i apply
i think
i'll have ap chem, apush, and aphug
idk why i didn't take the ap euro test last year tbh
also one thing i love about uw, no ap maxing required 🙏🙏
Yeah that’s true they only look at rigor
at my school all you need is 5 ap classes to have what they consider the most rigorous courseload
i think all 4, or just the 3 before you apply and they need to submit mid-year reports
it’s super low
wtf that’s crazy easy
my former cs teacher talks about how much she wishes uw would take letters of rec because of how many good people get rejected/not as good people get admitted
I wish I went to a good high school for stem
My school is bottom 15 in the state for stem 😭😭
if you have good stats you’ll have a good start
Yeah I have aight state
oh and good essays
They’re not amazing but not erribken
Yeah I gotta essay max this summer 🙏
I think I can do a good like character essay but I am 100% cooked for the culture essay I’m a upper middle clsss rural white kid 😭😭
Like I have 0 ides what do for my cultur essay
i wrote about being a tennis player -> team player or whatever
idk did it specifically say culture?
Yeah and how it will add to the diversity of uw
yeah i dont think you have to write about race
im pretty sure i recycled an old essay for that
i did too lol
uw essays were my most low effort ones nek
No I know I just have nothing to write about tbh
i accidentally submitted a 350 word personal statement 💀
cuz one of them was my ca personal statement word to word
one was just an old recycled essay
nothing at all? what are your ecs
the honors one was new which i didnt even get into
Cyber patriot, part time job, working at the fair, boyscout/Eagle Scout, key club, national tech honor society
I’m writing about my Eagle project for my character essays
Essay*
Community might refer to your cultural group, extended family, religious group, neighborhood or school, sports team or club, co-workers, etc.
any communities you found while doing your ecs?
I could write about working at McDonald’s lmao and all the different kinds of people I’ve worked with and all the different walks of life people come from who work there
lots of directions you could take tbh
dont be too limited by the wording of the prompt
ofc it should be answered but its better to write smth good than try to bs something that seemingly answers the prompt directly
like race, in some cases 😔
Yeah that’s true I’ll have to put a lot of thought into it
I can probably write a good essay I just need good ideas
Has anybody gotten their fin aid back yet 💀
My FASFA hasn’t even been processed yet…
Ooh you did cyber patriot?
I did cyberrtarat
Cyberstart
Yours has???
Yeah I did it was really fun I’m doing it again next year
We did okay
But we have a new team next year
Hoping to atlesrt be in plat
Ooh nice nice
Yeah
Should be fun
We were in gold this year
I did windows and it was my first ever time doing anything cyber security related so yk
That really started my interest for cyber because I had such a good time
Nope that’s why I’m asking
Ok ok good
Guys id I get into uw should I live on campus my freshman year to make friends, or should I just live off campus since my parents own a house in Seattle that I can take@the light rail to school everyday
3 majors lmfao
What abt pre med? I thought it’s a good school for pre med?
100%
But not well known for pre med?
no id say its well known
but other schools like (i think??) jhu are better/more well known
@scarlet tinsel how difficult would you say your first info classes were
like the very introductory ones
So you have to get at least a 97% raw (no curve) to get a 4.0 in INFO major classes. So while the classwork is easier than, say the Calc 12x series, standards are very high to get a 4.0.
I was a try hard but got a 4.0 in both INFO 200 and 201. It wasn't terrible but INFO 200 definitely was not my favorite class and gave me a rather weak impression of the major
Whatttt, that’s how you get a 4.0??
I thought just getting an A would suffice
No, each department has its own policies "depending on the curve." So for INFO classes you need at least a 97% raw for a 4.0, and there is not a curve so what you get is what you get lol
Here's the one for all of my INFO classes
So then I gotta get a 97% or higher in each class
To get a 4.0
That’s gonna be hella hard
unless you wanna go to graduate school
it's valuable if you wanna put summa cum laude on your resume and go to grad school but i wouldn't be completely worried
It is if I’m going to grad school
Was this?
What’s this
some dumb usleess honor tbh
not useful
unless u want something onur resume
like deans list except its like "honros"
3.99 overall for summa cum laude in the college of arts and sciences 🥲
i’m already cooked
Oh jeez
Wait that’s what you need 😭😭
Am I gonna be lonely as an RA?
Living alone?
I don’t wanna live alone, I want a roommate
Probably not the campus is massive lots of time to make friends
join a rso
there’s literally 1000+
What’s that
any UW discord
multiple
theres one for '28, one for uw as a whole, one that holds invite links for other uw servers, as well as an entire server hub
i got it thx
ik someone thats doing uw cs right now and i wanna shoot them a quick dm but i havent talked to them in like years
😭
where are the links?
i can dm the links if you want
can u send me the link for the '28 server?
sent
Yes that would be awesome
dms blocked 😔
Oh right let me change the settings rq
Does it work now?
sent
Thank you so much
im sure they dont mind :))))
😀
could you also DM them to me please
My ex (UW) wants me back (was rejected)‼️🥳🥳
Are the waitlist admissions rolling?
u rejected me why should i listen
likely won't be for a while... because people can continue to accept their admission until June
well yeha but people already getting admitted off the wait list
So could they be rolling already?
can you send a screenshot of this entire email
my friend was accepted in off the wl b/c of a scholarship
apparantly, it was something completely seperate
Ohhhhh okay
Does anyone know if the honors college gets housing priority?
UW MY BELOVED OHHH MY BELOVED STATE FLAGSHIPP
I am here to worship you after Berk and every other reach school let me down 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you oh UW for seeing my worth ✨✨
I love you forever and will see you in fall
bro forgetting the ivies
I only have Cornell bro
relatable!
And ain’t no way it’s friggin Cornell
UW is great though, congrats!!
The only downside— I will be stuck with some annoying boys I have known since 6th grade
Eewwwwww
REAL but me at UT
OH NOOOOOO
LMAO
NO MORE
so true bestie
Lmfao so I’m not the only one 💀.
do i wait for my purdue decision tomorrow or commit to uw tonight
uw is better eitherway
is it?
i mean depends but in most respects yeah
@hot grail wow 'm very suprised people have beat you out
green_berets guy 😔
hey guys, is udub cs better than ucsd cs?
yeah
damm man
do youj have any decisions left?
st anford
guaranteed rejection rbh
so im either ucr or sjsu bound
oh okay
yes
i think u got it
math aint too comp
its a capped major tho which scares me ngl
aldo math maybe fine but applied math is what im concerned for
also*
right
math or applied math
applied
ik its stem
but it cant be that bad right?
havent heard any stories if it is
Is there an admitted student discord
I gotchu, just dm me
Awesome ty
is there a rejected students discord
💀
ur gonna be fine
as long as you have a 3.9+ ur gg
bro wdym that shits hard😭
3.9+?💀
real
Take me off the waitlist!
can you also send it to me
cant wait to have a wave of new hs seniors in here in 3 months
✋
Hopefylly man
I’m in state
So hopefylly@that helps
I just gotta essay max this summer high key
tempted to write an entire notion guide on how to improve your odds of getting in
im super bored rn so i might do it lmao
🙏
this sound good lmao
pls send
the pipeline of college freshman to college counselor never ends
hi future classmate
hiiiiiii
sure lol
uhhh
uw is pretty big
(pretty and big)
its got nice cherry blossoms in the spring
^
woaa
lots of people
and because of that, lots of clubs as well
i think the exact # is 1100?
seattle itself is super nice
theres so much to do
that's great to know
honestly you could like
just open up google maps and write down a list of places you wanna see
like theres 5 different venues i know of that do concerts
wamu theater (my personal favorite), climate pledge arena (the hockey stadium), lumen field (the soccer/football stadium), showbox sodo, and neumos
i think the baseball field also does them sometimes? not too sure
Noted. Noted.
https://grandillusioncinema.org/ theres also this indie theater that i'm 110% gonna go to when i get the chance
theres also, at the very least, 8 boba places within walking distance of campus
I love boba
call me :)
how often does it rain, btw?
you'll see more rain in the spring and fall
it'll rain probably once, twice, sometimes three days a week id say?
i live a bit further east than seattle but one time it rained for like a week straight
shits always gray
some wind but not as bad as other places
it never gets too cold like purdue or the northeast
lowest i've seen is 20 degrees
and that was very much a winter thing
sounds a bit depressive
it is
wait, purdue is colder?
name one perfectly mentally sane person youve met from washington
👋
everyones a lil odd
can get below zero F
I thought washington was a lot colder??
probably closer to eastern washington it can get that cold
but the puget sound area stays mostly fine
the 2 people in eastern wa be freezing to death all year
oh that's nice to know
temperate coastal climates LFG
@vagrant flint lmk when you finish that guide i really want that for next year
u applying for cs?
in state?
what school district
That's seattle
its too unfair
Uw tacoma?
👁️
yeah yall are unfair
someone needs to nerf em
no one at my school got into biz bruh
I wish i was in lake washington this shit sucks
my school is in bottom 15 for stem 😭
for the state
my school has no cs classes or business related classes
we have 3 comp sci classes
my school in particular got way more admits than the avg rates for most departments
is it just because your school is that cracked or is your school a feeder school?
no idea
probably feeder
theres always a couple in the state that are good at that
i have like 30% of it done
yeah true
actually i'll just dm you the link rn
aight bet broski
ldub
its because its the sweatiest school district
maybe bellvue too ngl
(and bellvue gets carried by newport!)
tryhards fr
i mean
my school is full of tryhards yet we've been getting lackluster results compared to schools in the same city
olympia?
the only person ive heard of from olympia is (nvm probably shouldnt say his name here lol)
i think he goes to olympia the hs
mhm yeah
that guy is straight up a crackhead
see im not even smart enough to even know what that is lol
international science and engineering fair
its like uh
a middle school science fair
on dozens of roids
i bet everyone in the fair smells
😈
probably
where u committed to
im 16 brother
mogging people preemptively
nah i just jack around lol
u wanna goto uw?
damn so u smart smart
"higher choices" meaning i want to go to diff schools, not that im gonna get admitted 💀
like yea itd be dope if i got into like yale, im not getting in tho 😭
seems too hard tbh
if u got in
id probably fail out
yale grade inflation goes brazy lol im sure youd be fine
even uw itself is hard
ive seen so many transfers to wwu its crazy
i have some stuff cooking
i trust that the right doors will open when the time comes
and thus the new wave of applicants is born
may the odds be ever in your favor
i probably will lol
if it wasn't my essays, it was my tsa wins in combination with being in-state
i strongly believe there is no other way i could have gotten in because my application was trash compared to other ppls i know
but i dont really think there's just "one thing" that got me in
yeah ofc
a single good ec < multiple good ecs
well duh
do you think uw cared more that you had tsa wins vs if you had a equally strong ec that was non stem related?
in state
biggest blessing u acn have lol
my tsa wins were directly cs related and i think even mentioned in my personal statement
lmao that's true
so to answer this specifically, yes
yeah it is
misread the q
i mean my strongest ec by far is that i'm an eagle scout
in-state rate is an aggregate for all schools but its imbalanced depending on school/sd
rich kids
definitely doesn't compare really to tsa wins but yk
- tesla stem
yeah me too
prioritize that, and hone in on how you've been doing scouting for years
i was number 600 on the waitlist last i checked
anyone here lwsd?
i think commitment is something they enjoy a lot
yup
eah
i'm writing my personal statement about my eagle project
have a friend there but nah
then no
oop lol
multiple got hypsm this year?? damn bruh
i personally know the one you named and someone else
mhm
i probably know u then lol
can i dm you 💀
yea sure
wait me too
wait bro
wait dm and guess
what i meant is like
if u knew him thru family we propbably have like a mutual connection who woulud know u
i prolly dont know u by name lol
Would i put a IT certification as like an award?
if u had nothing else yeah
sure
who else
besides mit and the one named
wait im so curious can you dm me
lock in bro
i'm going to try bro
my gpa isn't so hot and not much i can do about it now
the best i can do is slightly better than what i have rn
my freshman year fucked me over
😭
talk about that
dont leave a single bit of it up to interpretation, iirc theres a spot to talk about dips in grades
if it is there, use it to talk about what happened and how it’s improved
like the extra information section
yes
i could just say like i had a hard time transitioning back from online school to in person school but that's prolly really overused
i mean say something rather than nothing lol
that's true
idk what to say tho
it was really just a bad year
like my gpa at the end of junior year is going to be a 3.83 but if i just completely wiped off fresh it would be a 3.94
bruh stanford??? crazy
my school's cracked this year ig
its not that bad because you show upward trend or whatever
grind ecs?
my ec's are Eagle Scout, Cyber Pariot, Key Club, national tech honor society, National honor society, volunteering at the foodbank
how long have you been doing cyber patriot
only this year i would've done it longer but i go to a tech school for half my day and that's where i got introduced to it so i had no other way to do it before this year
i wish i had the option to do it earlier i absolutely love it
solid
It sucks that nowadays thats the average gpa
especially in this server everyone be crazy
Hello i got admitted to Pre Major (Arts & Sciences) in the College of Arts and Sciences. Im planning to pursue a major is either CS, ACMS or Statistics data science. What do you guys think my chances are. My other good options that I was able to get was Northeastern and UBC (Business and Computer Sceince ) and UofT Rotman commerce (planning to trasnfer to CPSC). I think I will be able to do quite well in the prerequisit courses as Im getting straight 7s in comp sci and MAth AI HL in IB
i dont think you can switch to CS as a pre-sciences major
also you can use #954425230896545792
you can
it’s just difficult to and uw doesn’t really endorse it because it’s difficult
yk if presciences to informatics is hard?
info is capacity constrained and also admits mostly through dtm
might not be as hard as cs but probably still a bit difficult
i wish this was my problem
cant relate
hopefully that'' be my problem next year 😬
pdf version of the freshman guide for 2024-25 will go live on april 1
https://fyp.uw.edu/orientation/content-areas/husky-guide/ this year’s version is still available here, it’ll get replaced with the new one when it’s live
depends how high/low yours standards are
😈
Ong
booklet, stickers, physical acceptance letter, and a postcard
HIM
This is all they send you?
no
there’s a separate package when you commit i believe
you get that from your a&o sessions
then there’s also departmental stuff like this from the allen school
yeah im in-state
Oh I might not commit
Oh cool
how do you sign up for A&O
opens up later i think
Omg that's so pretty
george pickens
I live in singapore so do i get this aswell or is this like a america exclusive thing
dude the hazing course 😭😭
alright besties this makes me SO MAD
wa resident here
our grey skies are AWESOME
it's always a really nice temperature outside for one
and it's way more interesting to look at than pure blue
the sky being pure white, adding a dreamlike quality to everything around you, the wind...
it may be my favorite weather ever
check this out
it's so pretty what
(that's me btw)
i literally love it so much
it's this and WARM
im coping with rejection still
yeah that's what i thought 😤
wa resident here: the grey skies make everyone depressed
fuck it ucsd szn
i think ur coping too bestie
i'm sorry
all i'm saying is
if it's this pretty with gray skies
imagine how nice it is with blue skies, if you love them so much
which it is for like half the year
sorry for ranting i just love wa state hdaskaljdlsbfkdj
Lol I’m a Washington resident and I just want to get out of this place
bothell might be calling my name
i've heard good things!
i'm sure which part matters lol
ME TOO GRAY SKIES >>
too bad im going out of state
but its inevitable that ill crawl back here after college
fr
there is part of me that's sad i'm not exploring somewhere new
but i love this place so much
its ok other places are mid compared to wa
i love rainy days too
rainy days, gray skies, starry nights
ok im getting a little too poetic or whatever
sameee
its not too bad tbh
the weather is not the worst of all time
any place in the midwest is significantly worse
sorry if this is tone deaf or comes across as mean but I'd recommend unfollowing the threads of the schools you got rejected from
Hey UW folks, I have a student strongly considering UW, but I wanted to get a little more understanding of the pre-XYZ with having to declare your actual major later on. Anyone have a good description?
real
for a lot of majors, if that student puts them down on their application and then gets admitted into uw, they'll be assigned a pre-major (e.g. according to uw's website, applied mathematics on application -> pre-sciences in admission offer)
then (also according to uw's website) they'll be expected to declare a major by the time they've earned 105 credits and completed 5 quarters
what can also happen is if they apply to something extremely competitive like computer science which is direct-to-major, they can get accepted to uw as a whole but not for computer science specifically, so they'll be assigned pre-sciences - after that, they can look towards trying to get a degree in other programs that are more open
uw doesn't recommend trying to transfer into computer science from pre-sciences since they're limited by space and extremely competitive
Yeah ,she was admitted pre- social science based on an application for Econ
looking at it the admit rate is only like 70% and involves basically an entire college app again
70% is pretty good
right, but compared to oether schools where she is admitted as an Econ major
seems risky
true
she's a super strong student, i'm sure it would be fine
yea it’s a lot of gambling
i know a lot of washington natives who refuse to go to udub for majors like engineering (which you have to apply once u commit) because of the chance they don’t get what they want
i believe the majors that u get admitted to directly are like computer science and business? maybe neuroscience?
Pre-Sciences, Pre-Social Sciences, Pre-Humanities are not majors. It's just a title that the university gives you.
If the student wants to do CS and got Pre-Sciences, their decision should depend on whether they are in-state or OOS. If OOS, go to another university. If in-state, go to a WA-state CC and try to transfer in with the same in-state residency status.
I think that knowing what major they want to do and whether or not they are in-state will help them make their decision.
Our Economics program is not fantastic -- the department is incredibly funded and the professors are not the brightest faculty... it's generally considered a "backup" major at UW.
(that is, if students don't get into Statistics, CFRM, AMATH, Info, CS, Business, Psych, etc.)
Good to know, thanks
i thought transferring between engineering was not hard asides from CE
Heya, I was wondering, how is the finance program at UW?
should i use the common app to apply to uw next year or will i be disatvanged?
because I really could write a good character essay but i have no ideas for the diversity essay and i think it would turn out ass
so would it just be better to apply with the common app?
I am not a part of it yet, but it is by far the biggest program at the Foster School of Business. Huge career fairs with lots of finance interns needed everywhere. Many go to the stock market or in consulting-related fields
A friend of mine has been considering switching to finance from engineering (we haven't picked our classes yet), do you know how easy it is to change your pre-major?
I’ve also considered switching to be entirely honest, but the only thing really holding me back is the opportunities available to international students
i used my commonapp essay and im pretty sure most ppl do oos
so its definitely completely fine
most people i know applied with the common app
i know uw has some version of an application that’s their own but i honestly dont know a single person that did that over common app
no you still do
its on the common app
There is no such thing as switching a pre-major. However, please note that switching to Finance would be a pretty aggressive move in your first year. If you're currently in Engineering but really want to move to Finance, I would wait at least two quarters before doing that.
Switching to Foster requires completion of a number of classes:
https://foster.uw.edu/academics/degree-programs/undergraduate-programs/admissions/standard-admission/
Foster is consistently ranked as the best public business school in the Northwest and admission to the undergraduate program of the Foster School of
will pass this along, tyvm!!
one thing i'll always appreciate is how many webinars and drop-in sessions uw has for all allen admits
- like allllllllll the different events they do
late april/early may
not for a while
How small is it?
Discluding dorms
i can walk around the entire campus in like 10 minutes
buildings are quite new tho
modern feel
an advisor at uw bothell stated that alot of kids transfer down from seattle
just goes to show the competitiveness of seattles major system
Damm that’s crazy
the campus is not a 10 minute walk
if you consider every single building on campis
red square to like the materials engineering more than 10 minutes
💀
Anybody get their acceptance package thing
💀
It’s been like three weeks I still don’t have mine
r u OOS?
it should of arrived
I got mine
though im not going so it doesn't rlly matter
yep
^
when do oos ones come
yup
depends on where ya live
maryland
kay
I haven't gotten it yet but I'm on the east coast so I expect it'll be a while
and it doesn't matter anyway because I'm not going to go here
I only got mine 2 days ago and i'm in state 🤷♀️ . I wouldn't worry abt it
gatech cs vs uw engineering undeclared (will have to transfer into cs second year with 33% admit rate, anecdoets on reddit say its pretty easy to get in just need to maintain >3.0 gpa)?
gtech
also some people on reddit say transfer is easy others say it’s impossible
what about gatech cs vs uw cs DA? I think gatech has more prestige but uw seems more enjoyable (pretty campus + nice city)
whichever school you like more
Udub cs is probably better it’s ranked higher and you most likely have more opportunities for internships and jobs and such since you’re in Seattle
Atlanta can’t be bad for that either tho
but Seattle does seem to be more well known for tech
is it?
cause there are 2 US news rankings for CS and in one of them UW > gatech and in the other one gatech > UW https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/computer-science-overall
https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-science-schools/computer-science-rankings
I guess uw is #5 for graduate and #10 for undergraduate?
Just general computer science uw is 5th and gt is 8th and I would just say uw is better regardless of the small discrepancy in the rankings due to all the tech companies you have in Seattle that you wouldn’t have in Atlanta since uw has connections to all of them
the difference in prestige is negligible
whichever one u go to doesn’t actually matter that much, js pick whichever u like more
i will say seattle is probably better for tech than atlanta but it sounds like u just got prescience’s and atp just go to gt
touché
yeah I agree seattle > atlanta overall. Gonna go with uw
let's goooooo
🥳
anyone who does cs at uw rn?
I'm not a CS major but I've taken CSE 123 with Brett Wortzman / James Wilcox. I'm currently taking CSE 373, Data Structures & Algorithms (a course intended for nonmajors), with Iriz Zhou and Kevin Lin.
are u a direct admit
do you see often that people go in as pre sciences
and how risky may that be
Many students come in as a pre major. Consider getting into a major as simply being a really cool way to get admitted because you have more flexibility
I think the majority of incoming students are pre majors
Nice package

What is informatics?
I keep seeing things about it at UW and I’ve never heard of it before
Basically an offshoot of CS. Whereas CS heavily focuses on theory, Info focuses more on social aspects of information and technology
oh that's cool
It’s a unique major fs. And very competitive for some reason lol
the reason is cause all the cs rejects use that as their 2nd choice major
and since there are a lot of cs rejects, there are a ton of info applicants since its the original info + cs rejects
hence the AR is like 10 percent or sum
I disagree with that statement. A joke doesn't mean that it's true... it's the running joke but it's actually quite inaccurate.
As you're someone who doesn't attend this university, please do not make statements that are speculative.
wait did you delete the joke or was it the cs rejects
one
well i assume its cus ur somewhat dissing his major as a rip off
or at least it can be taken as that
he admitted it lmfao
^
These two majors have their own separate curriculums. One is more based on theory, the other on improving the social welfare of humanity. I don’t see where Informatics is any less valuable than CS, or the other way around.
You try to argue something that doesn’t need to be argued, and it’s about a university you don’t even attend. Kindly, please don’t act like you can speculate correctly about anything with a university you aren’t a student at. It is a waste of time and a disservice to those who are genuinely curious about the programs here.
i was making a joke
💀
Withdrew 🫡 goodbye channel, best of luck to anyone on the waitlist
uw>american
😈
Not for PoliSci 🤷🏻♂️
no way
UW PoliSci is really good
But you aren’t going to beat D.C. for opportunities with that
I don’t like the culture there
was american u and uw ur top 2 or nah
UW was in my top 5 but not my top 2
Top 5 was, in descending order
UW
UCSD
CU Boulder
GWU
American
Though if I’m being honest, GW was only that high because it’s D.C. and good PoliSci
I don’t think I would ever actually go there until grad school
uw is def ranked higher then all but i feel dc is the superior location
I want a real campus
American, GW, and UCSD are all better for PoliSci but UW is very much a great school
UW is more CS/Environment I feel
is american the most expensive
No
Not even remotely
Like raw cost yes
But for me it’s the 2nd cheapest of those 5
Well no raw is GW
do u care for sports environment or nah
MY COA is
UCSD - 71k
UW - 59k

American - 31k
CU Boulder - Not sure but after finaid and scholarships it would be lowest cause in state
boulder and uw are pretty high in that regard
Not really
AU technically is D1 too
Not as big as UW or CU obviously
do info classes touch on hardware stuff or is it mostly/all focused on software
A lot of people haven’t tbh
It’s basically only known for International Studies and PoliSci
And then maybe a bit for Public Health
ECE I would be a better fit for you. I think there’s one class that gives a brief overview but Info doesn’t do anything with hardware.
oh no im like super bad w hardware stuff 😅
actually hoping it’s mostly software lol but i’ll def check out ece if i ever wanna do hardware
bro whats wrong with the culture there
oh hell no
bro carry me next yr in CS
are you taking 143 in autumn
Rich stuck up white guys
do u wanna b a lawyer
No
what u wanna be
Would love to work in foreign affairs/diplomacy type thing
whats that
Like international politics
😈
Bro shit deadass had a 10 percent AR this year
that was like oos tho
They just announced it as overall
They didn’t differentiate the too
Now I don’t even feel bad for not applying even tho it’s my state school
where did they annouce that?
@slender rover where
where
it's a lot higher than 10%
if you're seeing that
that means they're enrolling 10% of who apply
but the acceptance rate is a lot higher than 10%
because they know not everybody is going to enroll
where
they wouldn't drop the acceptance rate by 40% from last year
this was from last year
bro this is pretty good ngl
I think also I would say a lot of the majors r pretty easy to get into
and this has to also take into account the competitive majors so a lot of majors its not that difficult to get into
Does anyone know if itll be hard to switch from CS to Computer Engineering
This is wrong for oos I’m pretty sure
The last cds was somewhere below 40%
the cds is very inaccurate a lot of times
they're both in the allen school
it's really easy to switch from one to the other
(at least thats what we've been told)
anybody get their financial aid offer yet?
I think they send it out pretty late this yr
they even moved their commitment date back to adjust for this

does anyubody know the amount of majors or credits that uw caps a student to in 3 yrs
uci
Guys I’m touring the uw rejects campus today
what's uw rejects
Wsu
nah uw rejects school is washu
they should lead you UW bothell
but in reality its not a bad school people r just humongous prestigious demanders
and they dont understand that legit going to a satellite campus does not disadvantage one at all
Very true
WOWWW 😂
It's very known that the UW satellite campus quality is subpar of quality at the Seattle campus, but I agree it is not a disadvantage whatsoever.
I disagree a lot of uw bothell classes for example have more dedicated professors and smaller class sizes which would be an increase in quality in addition the environment prepares one for industry which hence I believe it is on par or even better than uw Seattle
stuart reges has (what appears to be) an entire quarter's worth of recorded CSE 142 and CSE 143 lectures on his youtube channel
the homework files, calendars, handouts, and in-class files for both are also still accessible on their respective webpages
bro is stuart reges still the teacher for cse 143
lmfao I read one of his textbooks as part of my ap csa class
🤓
I am once again asking when the honors waitlist decisions get released
and if i commit will it help me
june
how difficult is it to double major here? not workload-wise but constraints-wise
assuming i want to do math or cs along with finance (direct admit to foster)
bro
cs is like rlly
hard
math is ok difficult but you need to apply ion ur freshman yr and you need to have a solid gpa
@rugged nest are you doing the math ba or bs?
hard as in difficult or hard as in they dont let you double?
well I mean they let you its just that its rlly hard and stuff
like there might be like 10 people who get into cs a yr
well im pretty set on cmu but just wondering because of financial things
honestly though like take into consideration that for a finance or business major (which is what i assume your doing) prestige is important, but im not sure that cmu is known for necessarily prestige in finance, though idk uw is known either that well, so its rlly up to you which one to choose as either option has pros and cons
i basically applied finance because when i was applying i didnt know what i wanted to major in 😭 and now i think im more of a stem person
i think cmu tepper is decent
so im leaning towards that and ill probably add something stem-related
as a minor or double major
cs is so hard though 💀 ill probably choose smth else
was thinking math?
idt they allow you to add cs as a double major at cmu automatically, im pretty sure you have to apply
rlly?
yeah
i thought if you wanted to double major at cmu
for like cs
it was space dependent
no anyone can add it
if they meet the gpa req
which is like 3.0
but obviously cs at cmu is like
a death wish
so most people dont end up actually doing it
i think ill just take a few cs/math/eng courses along with the tepper requirements and see what i like best
then maybe pursue whatever im interested in
whether i only manage to do a minor or double major
idk 💀
i mean ideally yeah but i also know i definitely would get cooked by cmu's cs classes 💀
so maybe a minor?
or a diff field like math
just honestly do what you like
cause u can always do a masters degree
in cs if you want
true im not trying to go even more in debt though
Yeah I'm actually thinking about changing from applying into Business to maybe doing Stats or something more mathematical lol. I already completed (or am in the middle of completing) the rest of the prereqs 🥲
Anyone considering commiting to UW for economics? If yes, what aspects of it are appealing to you?
when do fafsas come out
math/cs and foster would be hard tbh
too ambitious 😔
yo is there any way to get to udub from redmond area with public transport in less than an hour?
like all of the busses take 1.5-2 hours to get there which is wack asf
I mean you can go for it, but you won't have that much leeway in terms of electives
tbh the location is rlly good
and also econ is one of those majors where it can be applied everywhere
and with the startup scene being so active here getting employment should not be that difficult
does anyone know if the UW informatics program here is good?
im prob gonna commit soon
ive on ly taken either the 545 or 542, whichever gets to campus in a single go and not 2 buses
iirc that took somewhere around an huor
but its been a minute since i took it
from transit center
wait could you send the link / page that contains this route?
I'm not experienced with the bus system haha
completely depends on what you want as your career
like do you wanna be a swe engineer?
then its probably better to do cs somewhere else
