ange the goat
im only doing cs to make the 2027 CL final and watch us win it
meets every single weekday
trying to convince myself the workload will be too much
but 15 credits from a single class is too enticing 😭
bro tryna do hs classes
it’s a 9 am class too
but apparently only lecture sections afaik? i didn’t see a quiz section in myplan for it
it’s only projects?
ain’t no way u would do that bruh
is there an accepted student gc on ig?
Note that is three quarters' worth of material crammed into like 9 weeks, so you're going three times as fast. That shouldn't diminish your interest, but make you aware that the work you do won't necessarily be super easy!
they have like this zeemee app
though its not just cs
#954425230896545792
instate or oos?
International
yuppp
kinda why id wanna do it
but i think i’ll be better off doing 101-3
bro just got bitched😭
also as a heads up for any allen school admits:
hi guys!! I got into CS from Brazil and am thinkin bout attending it. Just wondering, is the weather too depressive?
Well rip me. I got my final exam score back... scored a 76% on my fin acctg but my final score went from a 3.9 to a 3.4 💀
Welcome to UW
During October-February, yes it is always overcast and not amazing, but once it becomes spring and the sun comes, it's absolutely beautiful and everyone loves seattle.
ngl why do they have to have student's admitted day during a weekend when all of us are here studying for midterms 💀
that's nice to know. I've seen a few photos and it's absolutely stunning!!
is it too cold tho?
i'm used to 20°C - 40°C
lmao
well it's doable, that'd be like 15°C
sometimes it’ll be much colder
i promise i will just observe and try not to interrupt 🫡
i will be bringing a trumpet and making enemies
Does UW provide scholarship to international students?
this winter was moderately cold. It usually goes down to around 40 degrees F, but there was a week that hit like -3 lol. (which is rare)
try to find me, i'll be there somewhere hehehe
If so, what is the highest amount that they do?
😬
thought I'd go to the beach often
🥶
its so pretty in the summer though, especially near gasworks park

woahh
are u attending uw?
I've met a lot of international students who said they got used to it. One of them is from Brazil and they're only here for three months and got used to it during the coldest months... now they're leaving to go back to the heat
not currently but i’m in the seattle area (or close enough to it)
that's so cool, nice to know
they'll have a thermal shock, it's around 90° f here
washington summers are hot and winters are cold
wow huge difference
well washington it really depends on what part of the state you are. eastern wa gets a lot cooler than western wa
mountains completely change how wind patterns flow
Meow
bro why do i not get these emails
try checking your @uw.edu email
Ok uw I didn’t want to go to your school anyways
i'm so sorry!! but dw -- 99% of people here agree that uw's honors program is pretty trash lol
my roommate quit honors so that he could pursue a double major in classics and math. and he's one of the smartest people i know.
but you didn't want to go to uw anyways 😭
danggg
yo what it just came in
damn did they send it to everyone together??
i gotta check it
didnt get the mail damn
but im intl, id need a miracle to make it in the first place
That’s ok I wasn’t planning on going anyways 😭 hopefully the people who got in do have a better experience than your roommate
WWW
Yes
no it's pretty universal most people who keep honors only do it for grad school lol
where would we see the honors decisions
they just come out through email i thought
I don't actually know since I'm not familiar with Honors -- I would guess MyUW under the Academics tab.
Ohh
i got nothing
lmfao
If admitted to UW you will receive a separate decision email from the Honors Program between March 15 and April 15. ‼️‼️‼️
So for yall worrying/wondering about Honors, there’s at max another month of waiting.
they’ll be sent in an email
Someone’s gotta pin my text 💀
Anyway don’t stress if you got nothing yet they don’t come out all at the same time; in fact, they’ll be rolling up until April 19th
does anyone know the deadline to fill out waitlist form? and do we have to do anything additional or do we just add ourselves to the waitlist
They started sending
Yeppers but they prolly come out in waves
@scarlet tinsel is there any benefit to committing early
I think that one of the bigger benefits is if you want to get housing. I think that housing options open fairly early (like in May or so) and those can get pretty competitive. If you want to get a good dorm at least.
Half of the dorms have private bathrooms, and have have communal bathrooms.
i found my old promotional papers from uw and the allen school specifically
they're....... something lol
Is there a difference in committing now vs committing in late march in terms of that
It’s not an incredible difference
Another person saying the same thing has already been pinned lol
But yeah i right receive an honors email yet
im deleting this because it doesn't seem to be true!
@fervent rampart @frail dune sorry for ping but you guys got an email through the email you submitted your application right?
like not a @uw.edu email
Yeah my normal email
Ok I don’t know what you deleted but cool
you said all honors decisions were out
ahh whoops.
Lol well I completely agree but don't necessarily need to trash on it if you didn't get in. Only 2.5% got in soo
bro I aint salty
im not that type of guy
im not like a toxic person about apps
im glad it went to somebody else in more need
Ok
would you say there’s any upside to doing honors
if ur in pre sciences ig it helps you get good classes to apply to majors
but besides that not rlly unless u wantan ego boost
no worries and yeah it was forwarded to both
where's my UW honors decision
2.5% of students get into honors???
according to the email sent out that someone got
Jeez!
That’s not very easy
not at all lol
Real
ahh.. the email I read said "there were 10,000 applications for 225 spots" (225 is what i remember but could be different)
so accepted vs. attending is definitely likely different
but similarly small
Yeah def small
email for reference ^
You got this in an email or in the portal?
@scarlet tinsel What is the difference between pre sciences and pre humanities and pre social sciences
like can pre humanities try and declare a science major
Scary
Yeah Oxford also rejected me over email, those feel the worst💀
It feels like breaking up with someone over text💀
No difference! Just something for you to call yourself lol
You can declare a STEM major as a pre humanities and a humanities as a pre-sciences
okay thanks man
do all pre-engineering majors live at maple hall?
Only if you choose to live in academic residential housing. You can choose not to.
I as an Informatics student live with someone studying Civil Engineering and another studying Classics/Math
bro aint no way
Why would anybody go to college to study books like I’m genuinely curious what careers can you get from learning about books
Or people who major in like Chinese what jobs can you get from those degrees
a lot of jobs don't require specific majors they just need a degree
Tbh you can do law school, work in media, PR, politics
Yeah that’s true
But like going to law school shows you actually know something, but like studying books doesn’t mean a whole lot
I’m just genuinely curious
Not knocking down anyone’s majors
For law school specifically you don't need a major
So if your end goal is law, might as well spend four years studying what you like, no?
Ohh ok thank you
Has anybody gotten their acceptance package?
nah
heard a strange case today
one of my friends said she got into info despite putting it as her second choice
i was just talking to her at a restaurant so i’m not entirely sure; the way she worded it was somewhat confusing too
according to her, she
- put engineering first, info second on her application
- after she submitted it, she contacted the admissions office and said she wanted to change her first choice to cs (which is a bit iffy?)
- apparently they said that was doable (also iffy? not sure if they can just change it like that)
- then when she got her decision it said she got into the info school
That’s weird
Maybe they changed her first choice to info
Like when she said cs maybe they changed it to cs
An anomalous case fs
Anyone else get honors college decision today?
not that i've seen
its a slow rollout process
have you?
yes! mine also said that
either of you get accepted?
yeah
Yeah I got in
oh awesome
I’m like shaking bro
W
They rejected me yesterday but I’m about to reject uw though so who’s the real loser 🙄
is washington ur first choice
bro am @sharp umbra
pretty much
hop on fortnite
im waiting for ivy day but im in state for uw and i want to be kinda close to home
how's grading for cs
somebody i konw who went to uw said there was grade deflation but is this true for cs
yea they said instead it was like only certain amounts of people could get a's and b's
idk if that counts as deflation 💀 but
i'd prefer a percentile system more
yeah for cs it looked like majority 3.9?
but it was kinda like distributed everywhere
allen school has a luncheon on april 20th (requires registration, as well as registration to the general admitted students day)
same here
what are your stats, if you don't mind me asking? 😅
4.0 1430 and like straight 3s on all my aps
lmao
but im from low income school so that was probably part of it
lol
those are good stats though
yeah ig not bad
my shame is that i have a 3.994
i am literally .001 away from being able to round up
good job with yours lol
thanks bro
hey at least you got accepted thats all that matters
hbu @cold dune ?
no because 3.994 rounds to 3.99 and 3.99 rounds to 4.00
thats what i tell myself everyday
that or freshman grades definitely dont matter
FR
it was in health too 😭
noo 😭 not health
mine was freshman civics smh
🥲
🫂
theres always one class
i was talking about it in my ap research and my teacher (who is mega chill) was like "yeah i never forgot how i just barely missed a 4.0. it sucks" and i'm like ma'am you aren't helping 😭
4.0, 1570, 16 aps with mostly 4s and a few 5s
damn
damn
that explains the a/r rate
wow!
16???
slay lol
ur the first person i've seen with more than me (15)
@foggy urchin youre in state?
i think my school only has 15
aww ty :)
mhm!
hbu?
same lol
nice
i cant help but wonder if i know anyone here irl 💀
then i think i dont really wanna know
ive said too many suspicious things
uh so not only did i get played by uwash but also rejected by washu
Is ece at udub worth it
😔 wishing you good luck for the rest of your decisions
sorry, but did we have to apply after we sent the application? 😭 I'm kinda lost here
it was a separate essay that you had to fill out on the application itself
ahh
they had 10k applicants for honors, they’ll accept a few from that pool of 10k, and then of those acceptances they’ll have room for 225 people in the program itself
omg you're jasmine 🤩 I'm rapunzel
theres a couple honors scholarships that they announce starting like april 15 or something
theres some other stuff with the program itself but its all on their website
Oh sweet
Says they should’ve been in the email
im pretty sure its different this year because of fafsa
but im not 100 percent sure on that
Maybe I’ll email and find out
yeah sounds like a good idea. lmk if you hear anything about it
is the 10k number among those accepted or among the 70k that applied
id assume among the 70k that applied
oh that kind of relieves me
bc we're not actually competeing with the 10k
more like 2.5k? assuming 25% got in
i don’t entirely understand what you mean…?
you could have applied for honors and gotten rejected outright, so i think that would have counted towards the 10k
maybe not this low but you’d definitely have been competing against a lower number than the total number of applicants, unless that 10k is 10k of all accepted applicants
I know, but you aren't really competing against those rejected
gg i got waitlisted for the honors program
second honors program i've been waitlisted for smh
tbh it doesn't matter as long as you got ur first choice major
scause liek the only benefit of hbonros is that you get priorisity selection for classes
yeah but still getting into a 2.5% acceptance rate thing is cool lol
also it's interdisciplinary honors and i love interdisciplinary
bro 💀
just get 2 doparmtnetal honors
IKR
No it's okay im not going to UW anyway
Nothing against the school it's just that i love california
did you get la too?
yeah
would you pick that over berkeley then?
idk😭😭😭😭😭😭
UCLA vibe though
i also got waitlisted!!!
first one and it's strange
how is picking ucla over berk wild 😭😭😭
isn’t berkeley like the unhappiest place on earth
picking berkeley over la is wild 💀
no
a lotta things that ppl say are bad abt berk become over exaggerated
Are you in state?
yeah
I got accepted to ucla and I just cannot afford it at all
for cali
Ok that makes sense then
not UW
Ye ye
That’s good that you’re in state tho
UCLA and berk are actually feasible options for you 😭
yeah oos insane
yeah im so grateful because i didn't know I'd be instate😭
my situation kinda iffy because I live in India but uh kind aqualify instate?
Take what you can get and use it to your advantage 🤩
fr
udub over ucsb/purdue 100%
oh shit
mb i didnt mean to respond to such an old message
💀
ur good lol
yall know if uw takes loci?
dont think so?
i think there was an appeal process a couple years ago that people could write letters/essays for but it might be different now
i dont think their wl form does though, it’s just you putting your name on it and then if it’s selected they’ll tell you
Meow
ok cool thanks!
What are the conditional offers like for ib students
who pulling up to admitted student day
is there an admitted student discord?
🫡
gonna be there (and at the 3 other admitted student events i signed up for)
there's one for co28 and one for uw as a whole
there's also a server hub that you can join with your uw.edu email
send me invite pls
sent
POV you live in Arizona and can’t go to admitted student day
Can I apply for Washington residency and get in state tuition
Starting my sophomore year?
yes
If a student is classified as a non-resident when they are admitted and believes that they qualify as a resident for tuition purposes, they must file a residency application with the Residence Classification Office to request verification.
Fr???
Residency Office Updates On June 9, 2022 S.B. 5874 modified the residency requirements for students using the Affidavit of Residency. Students applying for residency may complete the new form and meet the updated requirements in order to be eligible for residency for tuition purposes under the Affidavit of Residency. What is Washington Residency...
Wait
This isn’t it
I don’t think
Like if I attend UW
and apply for Washington residence that year
Can I get my tuition changed?
Bc I ain’t tryn pay all that for 4 years
iirc i saw something that said residency had to be established a year before the quarter you’re trying to enter for
wait no
So I could do it for sophomore year then?
Individuals must provide documentation showing they meet the following guidelines to establish WA domicile:
Physically reside in the state for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the first day of the quarter students are seeking residency.
Note: this information is for students who do not meet the requirements to apply using the Residency Affidavit. Students who meet the requirements of the affidavit should submit that form. Establishing Bona Fide Domicile The advice from the Office of the Attorney General, Education Division concerning presumption is that before domicile is estab...
but this is totally different
does any school allow this? seems kinda iffy
Damn this sucks
can i get the co28 invite please?
Me too
can snemd me the co28 one as well
Ripppp i would actually recommend if you have the money, go. You get free card access to all the buildings for the day. It’s the one day in the year that you can enter a ton of cool buildings
I entered so so so many buildings with the little badge.
The cherry blossoms are pretty too
Picture taken today and quality kinda sucks but it was busy in the quad today lol
for the waitlisted applicants, is there any to showcase continued interest or commitment?
appeal system i think
you cant appeal unless you reject waitlist

what did the waitlist rate look like this year?
Thank you
do you think they’ll be out for one more week? i got something there and im hoping to see them then 😅
they should still be out next week.
that can never be predicted, sorry.
Hey guys so I’m trying to figure out expenses for the admitted student day
Is it a good idea to get a rental car?
Anyone get their admissions package yet 💀
Not recommended. I would try and get a cheap hotel and use community transit/light rail for $2.50 a ride.
Get an ORCA card mailed to you
https://www.myorca.com/
Nope
What if I’m looking to get to know the city a little bit
Travel around, eat food somewhere different
There’s no Dutch in Washington???
dutch bros? lol
There’s none by the campus 😭
Rip
Closest one is a 39 minute drive
Does space usually run out for registering for admitted student day?
Anyone know how waitlists will look like this year?
Past years have been so random
Like only 7 people got off in 2022 but half the people got off last year or something
no way to predict
yeah it runs out of space pretty fast
bro
what major r u doing
for the finaid calculator can you just use your estimated sai for efc
on my registration it only says this, should there be more?
General Engineering
uhh
then chances r pretty high
cause they accepted like 2900 / 4100 people from WL lasgt ytr
no that looks pretty accurate. it's the huge welcome in the Alaska Arena stadium, then after you can explore all of campus and there's a ton of different events that happen that day from each department.
ohh ok
i saw the giant list of stuff to do on the website and thought there was a place to register for those separately
i remember staying until the early afternoon or something
I don't remember having to register for any of those events, they were either community-wide or exclusive to students admitted to the major (they usually don't let you in that room unless your name is on a paper that they check off)
so for instance there was this Informatics FDA meeting that I went to, they just checked me off so i could go in
yep! that saturday is the only saturday that you get to truly explore a lot of campus. not sure if they give y'all access to Ode but you get access to everything else i think
u can’t predict the waitlist acceptance rate
ya honestly can't really predict it too well at any university... and uw in particular is off the charts. 6 students one year and 2400 a few years later accepted off the waitlist 💀
bro wut?
some yrs are just affected b y other stuff
like covid
but its been consitently high cause u gotta remmeber its a state school
Bro last year was 2900/4000 then the previous was 8/5000
well
theres a reason for that difference
yeah the yield rate for UW is going down
during COVID
people wanted to stay in state to save money
but now that itsa over
people r more comfortable going OOS
hence UW yield rate is going down and WL acceptance rate up
that's speculation. i appreciate the reasoning but there are many other factors that impact who gets off the waitlist.
its not rlly speculation
its practically a fact
logically
ofc we dont know how much impact but its very reasonable to assume it had an effect
Yikes I’ll sign up rn tho
Can I cancel easily?
If I end up not going?
Bc I’d rather sign up before I can confirm whether or not I can go
Then wait til I know but it end up being too late
Well given that the admissions team is need-blind, they have no access to see who is "financially able" to pay for their tuition. They can only see who to pull of the waitlist based of the information from their application (i.e. first two major choices). Remember, students take into consideration whether they get into their major directly or not... and given how many more students are applying into capacity-constrained majors, those numbers also impact yield...
People "being comfortable" going OOS instead of UW post-covid because of finances is an... interesting argument. Remember that only a fraction of students who apply to UW are in-state (this year's numbers was 15k in-state vs 54k OOS).
I know a couple people who signed up but didn't go
Alr bet I’ll sign up rn
I mean obviously not the most considerate thing to do but there's no impact on your admissions decision
First come first serve sorry
I think it filled up within 3-4 days yeah
It's different every year... but yeah try to do it fast.
It’s prob already full smh
You'll quickly learn that to get anything at UW, you need to be on your toes. Registration, housing, career services, internships...
thats js any school
Good to know
I mean, you need to be on ur toes as in ur stressed if your wifi breaks and crashes. We're not the typical school, we're a more moderate version of the extreme Berkeley.
I.e. wake up at 5:45am to click "Register" at 6:00am precisely otherwise you might not get your classes since 2,000 other students are trying to get the same ones at the same time
(so more like 5:59:58 lol)
you'll get an email notificatoin once it's full
that argument does not work since 2/3 of the admitted class is In state hence meaning that its in their hands whether they want to go to Out of State or not. Also besides finances, safety is another reason, and housing as well.
same with game days 😂 the football apple cup got full in like two hours
In 2020 or 2021
could i make a macro to register classes for me
it would make sense that the majority group (in state students) would stay in state for financial as well as safety reasons. but now that they tend to have a lot more freedom in choosing, a lot more people r gonna go somewhere else
hence a lower yield rate and a higher WL AR
I don't think I understand your argument lol. If 2k in-state students decide not to attend UW vs. 8k oos students, I think oos would impact yield much more than in-state.
not sure what ya mean by macro
create a program to auto register for me at 6 am on the dot
so i dont get sniped for classes
bro where is 2k vs 8k numbers
Well then you would be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct and could be expelled from the university :)
UW said their admittec class is 2/3s in state
WTF
thats such a stupid rule.
Alright:
69k applied.
7k desired total acceptances.
Let's say they admit 20k total students with their yield. They accept 8k in-state and 12k out of state.
Let's say 2k in-state choose not to go, and 8k oos choose not to go, kinda a similar situaion last year where they over-accepted by a far margin (oops?). Which impacts yield more? In this example, there are 6k in-state and 4k oos, just a little under 2/3 in-state to oos ratio.
OOS students impact yield more because more OOS decided not to come to UW. Basically UW must balance between in-state and out-of-state charge sky-high prices to OOS students. Thus many choose not to go, causing the lower yield rate. Especially with the prices in Seattle, as you said...
Anything that can manipulate UW technology means anything that can manipulate state-operated technology...
man
im not understand how it can be 8k in state and 12k oos when 2/3s of their admitted students r in state
it has to be 8k vs 4k
Sorry. Their expecting entering class is 2/3 in-state. So of 7000 students, they want to try and have ~5000 be in-state students and ~2000 be oos/intl students.
According to the video.
Which means they probably accept about 8000 in-state (waitlisting another couple thousand), and accept about 12,000 out-of-state (and waitlist another couple thousand) to reach their desired class numbers. And because so many OOS choose not to attend because of the price tag, that lowers yield.
no
The vast majority of in-state students stay in-state because the vast majority of colleges are funded by the state government.
I dont think they mean expected in that they r predicting yield rate
the reason they put expect is cause they dont know yield rate
I believe they accepted 2/3s of the admitted class as In state
and then 1/3 of thenm are OOS
also the different in yield rate between OOS and In state is not to justify them accepting like 2 times more people
its not that drastic
@sharp umbra I need ur expertise on this
tf 💀
u research this info
they don't publish this info.
thus, it's not researchable
either way
there are a myraid of factors
for WL being so small in 2020-2021 or 2022
but last yr
there was no extreme factors involved
if we know the oos acceptance rate vs in state acceptance rate u can just figure out that
but its probably not published
hence nobdoy knows
that is more real than anything else
ofc nobody knows exact amount
but 2023's numbers
could paitn a very good picture for this yr
Watch this video lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bvaJCD5YWc&t=302s
"16,000 from WA state, and of a class of 7,000, about 2/3 will be made up of WA state residents. Hopefully."
Meaning that in WA state, about 5,000ish students will be in-state next year.
I've honestly lost what argument ur trying to make and it's a pretty stale argument for me to participate in any longer. I have better things to do with my time
my main point is that 2023's numbers r pretty good as an indication of this yrs numbers
If you got in, congratulations. Feel free to attend UW or go to another school.
without any potential factors such as Covid
False. You can only extrapolate and predict, but a previous year's numbers serve no indication for the current university's needs.
Factor in the 4.63% inflation.
wait but thats what I have doing
It's a basic principle of statistics. Extrapolation is not equal to indication.
predicting
im predicting its gonna be high
nobody knows, not even UW
hence I Say "likely"
Okay
I wouldn't worry about it since im pretty sure
I think I'll continue to answer UW-related admissions questions for students here on out.
bro im legit a uw student
next yr at least
And I will continue to answer admissions-related questions.
I mean
pre-engineering does not exist
Look at the "Pre Major" section on this page.
Pre Sciences, Pre Social Sciences, Pre Art are the main umbrellas
And Pre Humanities for a few.
yeah but my point is pre sciences is what u auto get
so it shouldn';t be that bad
though its kind of sad how many ;eople UW WL this yr
instead of just giving them PRe Sciences
cause I know a lot of perople who want to take that offer over others who got into PRe Sciences who dont wanna go cause they didn't get CS 💀
It depends on the major a student wants to get. A lot of STEM majors are capacity-constrained, and many students who apply are interested in entering a STEM field.
I mean they aren’t getting cs then unless they reapply whic is hard af
Will I get off the waitlist if I buy a Husky fursuit

@scarlet tinsel do you know what goes on in the bill and melinda gates center?
like is it another building for cs/ce classes
It has several CS/CE classes, lots of cool equipment and such, a lot of faculty/administrative offices, and labs
It goes underground a couple floors
It's really quite a beautiful building
Wait r u info
@scarlet tinsel
yeah that's called the dungeon
correct
U take classes in Melinda and bill gates?
🤨🤨🤨
here are where some of the offices are in another cs building
i've never actually been in the gates center yet
i've been in the allen center not the gates one
the allen one isn't as beautiful
Yeah
INFO is the only school that doesn't really have a dedicated building since it's such a small part of the university lol. We're housed in mary gates hall
Extension of ece building
i suppose you might say that. it's just an addition to the plethora of engineering buildings that already exist
such as roberts hall that i passed by earlier this week...
i think they tore down some of the trees in that picture lol
volunteering at a school event but still manifesting a waitlist acceptance
!!!
can u send inv 🙏
@scarlet tinsel stupid question but are keurig coffee makers allowed in dorm kitchens
Dorm kitchens are community-style and would get stolen, but they're allowed in the dorms! I have one myself hehee
yeah ask around from your grandparents or family friends honestly
I got mine for free from a family friend
alright umm
idea
how about all the a2c kids going to admitted student day have like, a meet up?
i think it would be hype
@hot grail someone actually beat you out with rejections i'm very suprised
LOL
im aware
two people
if anything i feel a lil better knowing that i wont be number 1 for 2024-2024 😭 idt i can beat 19 rejections
cause from now on the max rejections i can get is 21
should've applied to every t30
rejection maxxing
LMAOO
well i applied 32
uiuc, purdue, gtech, umich, mich state, penn state, baylor, all 9 ucs, rice, vanderbilt, northwestern, northeastern, jhu, nyu, upenn, stanford, 3 csus, cmu, vtech, ut austin, udub, tamu
holy shit how much was that in app fees
too much
my parents said it was a small price to pay as long as i got into a reach but so far, no reaches :')
smart
where are you thinking about commiting rn?
sjsu
ah okay
for what?
rice, vanderbilt, nyu, northwestern, upenn, stanford, calpoly slo, and berkeley
oohh that's scary
holy that must be scary
isnt slo legit just gpa bnased
which school im committing to by the end of this week
my gpa isnt good though
yea thats why im probably not gonna bother applying lmfoa
what college is slo?
cal poly slo
ohhhhhh
the best csu
my math teacher went to cal poly
cal poly is gooodddd
yeah it is
cause they barely admit any oos students
yeah lmfao
i wouldn't say uw by itslef is a reach more of a target
for in state atleast
its somewhere in between
doubt it tbh
yeah prolly not
atleast being instate helps
if i don't get into uw im going to uwrejects.com 😔
yeah it does lmfao
IT DOES
yeah lmao it does
i'm prolly applying to UW, WSU, UTA, CU Boulder, Oregon state university, Umich, maybe usc only cause my mom went there
@scarlet tinsel does uw have 3d printers that can be used outside of classes
Yes! The Mill North campus
WSU?
cherry blossoms are beautiful rn
yeah its so elite
bro UW is awesome
but is WSU is also a good backup optoiopn for so many people at my school
in state gpa thing?
ehh more like
they want to do their major
and hence they want to go there
since its direct admit
ah thats fair ik someone who went bc major
yeah
its honestly a great school
too bad everybody at my school lshits on it cause all they care about is prestige instead of their actual education
Yo I’m on campus too rn 😂😂😂😂
Come see me
In a not creepy way
i’m leaving rn 😔
i’ll see u in september tho
(probably)
:’)
is it not spring break
Everyone’s headed back to campus today because tomorrow spring quarter starts
oh damn
my spring break just stated
Yeah last week was hours and now we’re back to the grind 😂😂😂
hi can somebody send an inv to the admitted students server?
do you got a linkedin
Yep! LinkedIn learning for free
bro traffic getting onto i-5 south was horrible
like actually 5 minutes to get across a single block
is it always this bad??
no like what is it
I want to connect with as many UW students as possible
any1 know when the stuff gets mailed out?
FACTS
I WANT MERCH
MERCH
it did say they already did on the acceptance but no idea
it depend son locatiopn
but i live in wa and I haven't gotten anything yet
so its rlly weird
+1
still gotta get the physical mail
but i’ve gotten multiple emails
I want physical mail
I want merch
Like a t-shirt
Or a tshirt launcher pre loaded with UW t shirts
i gotta get myself a hat
I want them to send me a real husky
^
Why’d you apply to so many schools 😭
got bored of fortnite
cause they fucked up the movement
so quit and decided to apply to colleges instead
ok but in reality
I just wasn'rt copnfident in myself
and wanted to have choices
How much pr yoy@got 👀
Aight aight 👀👀
The best I got was like top 20 in a cash cup lmao
I made unreal a few time tho
And besides that like top 50? In challenger cups
Yeah
bro is tayson
Used to
yeah bro si the next tayson
Before I got a gf 💀💀
No lmao
I have an irl gf
Not fake
I did used to play competitive y
I did pretty good I had a duo and everything
Never made money tho so close so many times tho
yessir
give me those endgame rotation strategies
in college ima start a pro career
Closest I got to earnings was a gpro supekigjt from a Logitech competition
Bro if uw had a Fortnite team or something I would so come back and grind lmao
I was the god igl
Like actually I had the strats I locked in so hard when I played
Yeah
I remember a few times
Lonely labs hit different
That was my drop spot the entire chapter
UW is cheaper unless you’re in state in Cali 🤷🏽♂️
is ucsd affordable
^
Low key
I mean yeah
but I will have to pay for it
which I dont acc mind
but somebody told me to go to UCSD due to the location
but idk
what to do
bro i think my manager hates me lmfao
like i think my maanger has a vendetta against me
she said she wrote me up for going up front to talk to people and not doing my side work when there was nothing to do in the back and there was no side work t odo
yes
What dorms should I go after?
Also honors scholarships?
When do those come out?
wouldn't any scholarships have come out with your letter
Idk I thought maybe coming out late
And I haven’t seen anyone get an honors scholarship in their email
does honors even have separate scholarships
Yeah
Lemme find the link
It says it comes with the email
But bc of delays this year
I’m wondering if it’s different
And i thought at least everyone would get a small scholarship
Only 225 ppl to fund
For a small honors scholarship
oooooh
Does accepting honors college mean I accept that I’ll attend UW?
Meh
They say you have to accept both
So I’m not accepting the offer of attendance yet
Only the honors college
no
you manually accept both
Ok good
do i have to write a letter of continued interest for honors 😭
Same here broo
i don’t think so?
i think its the same idea as the normal uw waitlist
Can anybody access financial aid/processed yet?
Yeah that’s so dumb
i might email them just in case 😓
Better to be an RA or work study?
Wait I don’t qualify for work study
My fam too ri ch
Can I still get an in campus job?
What’s better, RA or on campus job?
Is there somebody that goes to UW rn in this server?
@scarlet tinsel
Ty
you could be a TA?
There’s no other campus jobs? What abt like research assistant?
Or literally anything at all
not sure
Alr thanks anyways
all i know for certain is they hire ta’s for cs/ce classes and that those openings are super, unbelievably competitive
there might be openings for whatever dept you’re most interested in
If I become an RA and get a campus job, I can pay half the cost
Maybe yeah
RA for 3 years and campus job for 4 years
Work over the summer too
really if you become an ra or get campus job you get discounted tuition?
For more hours
Nah
You get paid for a campus job
Being an RA pays your housing and food
But a lot of ppl see it as not worth it
Bc you gotta be up in the middle of the night a lot of the time to do room checks
And other things too
They say it’s 19.5 hours a week
Mainly weekends
does being an RA pay for all of your housing?
really that's crazy
Yeah but it’s a lot of work
Idk if it’s worth it
Pretty much every school offers it tho
ah okay
word study is them just saying "I promise to have a job at uni for you for X amount of money"
good if the work study is chill (like some easy office work) and you can do your homework, not worth it if you can just find a different, higher paying job
Yeah but work study you have to be financial need and I def am not so
I’ll just find a job
And be an RA prob
focusing on landing a good internship too
How do I do that
And why intership?
good ones clear 20k+ for one summer (for cs)
Wow
idk how much other fields pay
what major?
you can intern anywhere 🤷
True
ra / paid research is your best shot
Yeah ima def be RA and I’ll def look around for paid research during the school year
Find smth in AZ for the summer
i’ve seen one for 15
Do you guys think it'll be harder or easier to get into cs next year?
CHIN 134, a full year’s worth of introductory chinese classes crammed into a single quarter
cause i'm praying for cs next year 🙏
hard to say, dependent on a lot of factors
valid
what do you personally think?
obviouslly no one can say one way or the other
in some areas harder, just because multiple applicants
the blow will be lighter if you’re in state, and even lighter depending on what school you go to
i am instate
wdym it'll be lighter
oh well i mean across the board it’ll be harder
oh okay
because of more applicants
yeah that's true
just not as hard depending on where you are
still harder - it’s a competitive program that only gets more competitive every year, just not as hard as oos
oh okay
oh i didn’t even think about transfers lol
i mean some schools have just had streaks of a ton of people getting in, my school being one of those
might just be luck, might be an alternating balance, it’s just hard to predict
oh fuck
i was so inside my head cuz i wanted to transfer to cs in uw lmao
didnt read the convo
i used to think since we had a ton of acceptances last year and another school in the district had less, it would swap this year
instead, it just continued the pattern
good luck bro
what is ur major for uw
cs
in state or oos
