okay premed/prevet, unless youre really confident about your ability to do well in biochem upper divs and chem lower divs, do not major in biochem theres a 90% chance youll regret it. very few premeds are biochem i think, or at least they dont stay biochem for long haha

mcdb/neurosci are two of the more "difficult" bio majors at ucla but a lot of people do them. psychobio is probably the most popular one because its easy, its kind of neuro-adjacent. lots of people do human bio bc the upper divs are easy but its an application-based major so you need to apply to it

physiological sciences -- upper divs known to be hard as well, but its still pretty popular.... theres also gen bio but theres a lot of ecology focus

human bio is a major with a premajor--you can switch into the premajor at orientation, then at the end of your 2nd year you apply (write essays, talk about your ECs, and they look heavily at your gpa). for human bio BS, its roughly 50% acceptance rate i think? for human bio BA its a lot less competitive

Now I wanted to ask when I should be applying to on-campus housing (being an international), and how the housing system works at UCLA, registry, payment, and how I should pick my housing?

If I were to come to UCLA, I would definitely be on a local scholarship. Our Ministry of Education gives an allowance of about $1,700 per month not including tuition. Any other local scholarships I might get my hands on will be more than that. But in the worst case scenerio, will $1,700 cover housing and a bit of any other necessities (I really doubt so seeing the housing prices). Keep in mind my parents are willing to chip in a few hundred to perhaps a thousand a month if I desperately need it. Can I survive?

i find the size a bit annoying at times, and yk all the issues that come with size like enrollment, crowdedness, class sizes, etc. but it’s not bad enough for me to hate it

my profs so far have been great
