UCSD admission is major-blind. So you major is taken into account only after they have decided to admit you to UCSD.

If your 1st choice major is not capped, nothing else needs to be doneā€”you are admitted as the major you requested.

If your 1st choice major IS capped, that is when a second step occursā€”you are reviewed for admission into the capped major you listed.

If NOT approved, they move to the 2nd major you listed and place you there.

If you listed another capped major for your second choice, then a third review happens
