Outcome differences are minimal vibes are similar resources are similar. I give the culture and education nod to Williams but a reasonable person could disagree.

Princeton obviously has more lay clout but I’d say Williams has a pound for pound better alumni network.

In my first year at Williams:

I’ve been able to chat 1 on 1 with 2 billionaire alum

Gotten to go to small panel discussions with company founders and executives. (Idk what kind of connections you are looking at but for finance every big bank recruits we get the same number of spots each year as Yale with 1/4 the students)

There are a ton of Williams exclusive internships all over the US and a few global (I did one with the UN)

The response rate cold emailing alums is absurd I have gotten 80% reply rate compared to the around 10% from my friends at ivies (not Princeton) and 2% at a prestigious big state school (obviously this isn’t a great dataset but you get the picture)

Over the summer I will most likely intern with the ministry of finance for a country I’m interested in all because an alum went to bat for me

What is great is that all these opportunities exist

But there is so little competition because there are like 2k of us

I am not a math guy but the American Mathematical Society is the one that gives out the award so take that as you will

I definitely think there is a reasonable person who says I want to study math I’ll go to Princeton because they have greater course depth

But I imagine the average class until you get up to levels that Williams doesn’t offer because we don’t have grad students is a close fight

Depends on what you study. PHD programs love Williams students, Williams profs love doing research with their students to get them the needed resume to get into the programs. It varies a lot by field.

All of our humanities programs are very well respected. I know a number of students who are looking to do Philosophy or English phds who could prob answer better. I’ll talk to them.

One nice thing is Williams will often pay for a masters if you are looking to bulk your resume before applying to phd programs

People get quant offers every year because our math program is good. I honestly can’t say if it’s harder or easier without knowing the other schools programs.

Unlike IB I think school name doesn’t do you as many favors in Quant compared to just being good at the job.

i really feel you honestly

one of the big things though that i realized this year was that i should’ve been honest with myself about what chasing prestige was actually gaining me

because especially with regards to the lacs it ends up becoming a bit of a bragging rights game in stupid circles and also on the street

but i realized there are a ton of different ways to be impressive and smart and ultimately if someone’s only real bragging right is having gone to yale then that’s sad

it really depends on what you personally want out of an education because both schools are vastly different. williams will be a very tight-knit, small LAC; harvard will be a bit bigger and will provide a liberal arts education, but not in the same style. both schools are in fairly different parts of massachusetts. both schools have different educational offerings, and the focus on undergrads vs grad students vs research (i.e. the resources that go into undergraduate education, and/or professors' levels of involvement) are pretty different. athletics, extracurriculars, networking, brand, all of those are somewhat different (although all strong). i think both choices are great; i will say that ED'ing to williams is probably (logistically, not in terms of odds) easier because there is only an optional graded writing sample, however that should not be a make-or-break part of your decision-making lol. i'd see if you could get in contact with current students of either school, especially in your program, and see what you think after speaking to them! ask about things you like to study, the student life, connections and professors, anything you're thinking about for post-grad plans... good luck!

It seems like they do a lot, from the entry system to a whole lot of clubs to concerts at the school

if you want to go party and have fun you can legit just do that at any college
