UCF Friends: if you want a group of good people to meet right off the bat, I recommend checking out TEA @ UCF (or STEEL as well for you engineers and FTPLA for Rosen). TEA is the Themed Entertainment Association (so if you like theme parks you’ll fit right in) but even if you’re not a theme park person, that club has a bunch of really good people who can help you navigate UCF as you get your bearings. You’re welcome to tell them TG sent you!

I actually had someone come up to me the first day of sophomore year and tell me she remembered me from her visit because I told her to always pack a waterproof windbreaker, umbrella, and either flip flops or rain boots (because it’s Rainesville for a reason) and she remembered me wearing my admissions windbreaker that day. The first day of her first year happened to be a downpour so she was super thankful and it was a core memory moment for me

nothing to be sad about. I'd be grateful of the acceptance at the state flagship and celebrate getting free tuition. FL state spends $600 mil on Bright Futures each year. One may disagree with the state on certain topics but BF is arguably the best state sponsored scholarship program in the nation.

FYI, as for signing housing agreement,

“The housing contract is a binding agreement; therefore, I would recommend waiting to sign this contract until you are certain about attending UF. The date that you submitted the $25 deposit date determines your priority date, therefore waiting to sign your contract will not affect your room selection priority date if this contract is signed by May 1st.
Regarding the cancellation policy, if the contract is signed and then the student decides not to attend UF, the student must submit a written appeal, and this will then be reviewed and approved by the Housing Team. The student will then be charged with a $225 cancellation fee (The fee will raise after May 1st). With that being said, I highly recommend waiting to sign this agreement until you are committed to UF.”

I feel like it’s the perfect fit for me personally. Location, affordability, and social life were the big three factors for me. Its location is perfect for me because it’s not too far from jax. It’s extremely affordable because I’m in state, and the social life is great especially with sports

I think the vibe of UF is good too, from what I’ve seen/heard it’s collaborative rather than competitive like some prestigious schools are

Also it has a great marketing program

And then like I’ve been a gators fan since I could talk yk so wanting to go into college admissions while going to college I’ve loved for years is so perfect for me

I really love big public schools tho, like that’s the only type of place I could see myself going to college at

i love UF because it has a program (wildlife ecology and conservation) that seems so perfect for me and my future career interests. it's also only 3ish hours from my home, which is nice, and i also got bright futures scholarship so 100% of my tuition is covered. i love the old style buildings, and i've always wanted to go away to college so UF just seemed like the best fit for me.

I originally chose UF because I wanted a place that would allow me to explore both engineering and business while also being away from home, but not too far of a drive.

UF, like any college, has its quirks and flaws. What I’ve found is that, even in a big university, you can find your people and make your own experience. I still talk with my engineering friends even after I switched into business, but I’ve also found professors that genuinely support me and my professional endeavors and encourage me to take the opportunities available to me.

I started at UF as Industrial and Systems Engineering, so can't speak exactly to the first year student experience for business there, but I can say I’ve enjoyed the rest of my time in it!

I’m a General Studies major, which is kind of like a Frankenstein major where I have a business core but with a concentration in another school (mine I turned into a Mass communications minor). I’ll write more when I am much more lucid

Im currently split between two choices. My dream is to go to UF under the Animal Sciences major and become a veterinarian. Unfortunately I didn't get accepted for the fall of 2024 however, I was accepted to UF online and Santa Fe Honors and just need some advice on what I should do next.

I want to know if one is better than the other in regards of transferring. I will be moving to Gainesville this summer so I am not really considering going anywhere else.

Ive read that going to a CC is a lot better because universities have to accept students from them but does that make transferring from UF online harder? or is it just less conventional. I currently have 100% Bright Futures (full tuition at any FL public school) so I wouldn't have to pay for the "Optional Fee Package" which allows me to use all of the UF amenities which is very nice because I can do anything another student can do just without having in person classes but at the end of the day my main concern is transferring that is what i want to do. I want the best chance to be an in person student at UF and tbh I am a little worried taking online classes because I didn't have a good experience during COVID. My counselor is telling me to just go to UF online and that Ill have a lot better chances but what im reading on most posts is the opposite so I would just like someone to clear the air.

Any advice or information about SF Honors and UF online would be very helpful. THANK YOU

for example, would i be able to get a job at UF as an online student, and have access to the same opportunities. Santa Fe honors has already sent me a lot of information about internships and volunteering opportunities which would be great for my goal of being a Vet.

(I was also considering taking a GAP year, I had a lot of problems in my freshman year which caused a low gpa, but i retook those classes and with help of ADHD medication i have a 33 on act now which i didnt have at the time of applying)

Santa Fe is VERY easy to transfer to and many UF students have taken classes at Santa Fe if they’ve needed a retake or to focus on learning the material.

Also, make sure you connect with the Disability Resource Center if at UF, I’ve also got ADHD (yay neurospicy!) and they can help make sure you get the accommodations you need to succeed. I get extra time on exams, I can be late to class within a couple of minutes, I can move around or talk outloud to myself during online exams, etc.

Not sure about the jobs thing, that is above my pay grade but you are open to look at the UF jobs website (I don’t have the link right at this moment) under OPS I think

UF student here, not in CS or foreign language but I'll do my best

One thing to keep in mind about CS is it's very credit intensive just for the major, like 73 credits. On the other hand foreign language (just using Italian as an example because I'm taking that next semester) is only 33 credits but the courses are very high in credits an in person, which may be hard to fit in with CS into the schedule.

But the first 2 beginning foreign language classes are both 5 credits, which may make it hard to fit into your 18 credit limit with the CS stuff.

The best thing you should try to do is see how many AP/IB/Dual Enrollment credits you can get to get Gen Eds fufilled, and then make a semester plan to figure it out

UF also requires you do a summer semester at some point so you can factor that in as well

i plan on doing it at FSU but they do have specific advisors for it

as long as you have a good amount of AP/DE credits, and schedules/pre-reqs work out, it should be doable

Hey wanted to ask if it is possible to switch into the school of engineering at UF if you are in the school of liberal arts and science

You declare your major at preview, so yes you can major in anything you’d like

so there is two computer science majors like one with the liberal arts and science and one with Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering like will I only be to go to the one with the liberal arts one or can I go into the college of engineering one

AEC 3033C - Writing for Agriculture (3 credits) (online)

it's 14 credits but 6 classes, the WIS2920 is just an intro to my major and SLS1102 is just an intro to UF but i thought it would be nice to do that class with my bf :)

i've also heard the AEC classes are really easy? and one is online

but is this too much?
