Just in general just try to make sure that everything you write has a purpose in the context of your essay or even in the context of your entire application

This is a blind leading the blind situation now tho so take what I say with a big pinch salt

Iirc in my historical character essay I managed to link it to basically everything else in my app - it connected to my career goals response, for example, then I connected it to the theme of collaboration that I interspersed throughout my EC descriptions, and then managed to connect that to my background as an immigrant (mentioned in the 800 word personal essay), and then I connected my response for the 500 word topical essay with the career goals I mentioned before (also connecting those with the words of the historical figure himself), and then I circled back to the beginning and ended with a symbolic motif that I managed to conjure up from my choice of historical figure and connect it to my own experiences

Now that I look at it more I also managed to elaborate more on my motivations, allude to my interest in history, and question my own assumptions

My third supplemental one which MIT lets you have on their application I have a Vice-President of Engineering of Ford who got accepted into MIT (couldn't go due to being diagnosed with autoimmuno) who wrote me one
