What I don’t understand is CS is CS anywhere. You learn the same thing. There are standard accredited classes you have to take to get the BS degree. So not sure if one school is better than the other. Might be possible research or internships that come along with the name of the college

Obligatory not a CS major, but there is definitely a variety of courses and rigor of each course. For example CMU has almost 3x as many credits needed to graduate as my relatively highly ranked state school.

Like sure the basics are gonna be the same, but at your state school they aren't going to make you create your own operating system from scratch (actual cmu assignment)

Not saying CS is bad at my state school, but it is definitely not the same

like every school is going to have you learn algs and datastructures, but not every school will make you reimpl them from scratch or apply them to an actual dataset

Also, CS isn't standardized; many, if not most, schools are not accredited by ABET for CS (even top universities), and as such, they have the freedom to design their curriculum however they see fit.

and for the most part you can expect a decent education from any of them

But why would you add EE/TOK to your mid year anyway? EE/TOK is only graded once, it’s not like it’s graded multiple times throughout junior and senior year
