then obviously there are good reasons within major

but other broad ones are like really good writing focus, well-consolidated study abroad programs for languages, built-in research, lac feel, etc etc

other than that you gotta take a look at yourself and what you’ve done and be good at connecting the two

my friend had an interview for princeton this morning, the person might ask you to introduce yourself after they introduce themselves. they're probably going to ask you a question like "Why Princeton?" and even more specifically maybe even what programs/labs that you are interested in

questions you really can't prepare for ngl, since there's a good amount of variation between interviewers, but some that might be asked are "what's your favorite class/teacher you've had?" (might be two different questions), "what are some passion projects you have" (or might just be "what do you do in your free time")

like 45 min LOL the set up was kind of weird, there were like 10 alumni in this lobby and a bunch of applicants came to interview, and when my friend entered the lobby one of the alumni was like "oh, i'll take him" and they interviewed, so he didnt have any chance to research her beforehand

also length isn't the greatest indicator bc interviewers are instructed to give all applicants the same amount of time, the people you see on Reddit that post "OMG MY INTERVIEW WAS 8 HOURS!!!" tend to either be lying, or have interviewers that just broke the rule

like my MIT interview was almost 1 hour on the dot, since the guy purposefully scheduled a few interviews back-to-back with 1 hr time slots (my friend had the 8am, I had the 9am one right after him lol) bc again, the expectation is all interviewees get the same amount of time
