india isnt holistic its completely based on the jee score which is an objective benchmark which many disadvantaged kids can't reach due to lack of availability of resources and knowledge on how to study. the qualifying benchmark is a lot lesser for underprivileged kids because for them that score is a big thing.
us is different, they look at context and background and stuff but in india you just have your jee score. so you can't really make it solely based on the score without quotas because only the rich ones who've been paying lakhs to go to coaching from 6 years old would get in
