#University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) (2023-2024)
1 messages Ā· Page 6 of 1
guess I gotta rescind my app š«
A 34 is good
š haha bust
didnt particularly feel like it
Odd
was in the middle of writing 19 other apps š
looking back i prob could've pasted from another app since uiuc supps r only 150
but i'd already submitted and stuff and by this point it's prob too late
i also did caltech's way later which is the one i'm thinking that i could've copied
it's probably fine
Purdue data science. I don't believe uiuc IS is that fit for data related things
IS is a "policy" major in that you learn alot about policy and stuff but not actually technical stuff. They do a bit of data science coding and stuff but this is far from what Purdue does
Purdue's Data Science major is actually super close to our stats & CS major
sent a low sat score for oos pure cs now im fucked
how low? below 1400?
1450 one sitting
meh could be worse ig, wont diminish your app much i think, going test optional they kind of simulate a number for you based on your other stats
nah thats not the worst of it, this one my math was dropped low asf and my english subs went up
glgl
ty u too
is 1480 alright for math?
sats are not cutoff requirements, they are just "the higher the better"
anybody knows the aero eng acceptance rate (stats)
What was your math?
will a good english profiency score compensate for a decent english sat score (710)
no, english proficiency is just a box for them to tick to understand if you'll fit in the university environment as an intl ; 710 is a very good english score regardless
oh ok thank you
how is that?
Uh huh thanks
Uiuc is the school that made me wanna apply to the US
So I'm really eager
4.1 gpa , 1460 SAT , good EC's and LOR"s . is aero eng gonna be alright ?
I did test option for bioe with a second choice being chemistry in state, I know I have like no shot for bio e but chemistry isn't the hardest to get into right š
Might be tough
Yea chem is not too competitive
Alright thank you, I've been stressing about it
does uiuc only look at scores off the srar and not the transcripts on the common app?
how is cs + physics looking like? would it be around 30% acceptance rate?
yes?
not the only factor, my friend got into northeastern as an international with 1200 sat, 3.6 gpa and no ecs
the admissions process is a mystery, there's no use dwelling on it. there's not even a steady statistic on the process
wow congrats
tru
also wondering this
probably closer to 20%
what do u think it is for ee
thats literally the whole point of a second choice major lol
if you don't get in for your first they will reconsider for your second
do anyone get admitted based on their 2nd maj
lol
Is myillini down for abyone
does anyone know if economics if competitve at UIUC
Good to know itās not just me
didn't they say they were gonna take it down for maintenence today or something
Oh idk
UIUC has a good Econ program, but Iām sure itās much less comp than engineering, CS, and even business since itās in LAS
delay the defers and rejects as long as possible š
Anyone know of any pathway program for UIC to UIUC or does that not exist because I heard about it from somewhere but I can't find it now
what is a pathway program
is this a kind of joke that I am too international to get
It's essentially a program where you can attend one school and then if accepted to the program after a certain period of time you can transfer into UIUC
oh alr thanks
Does uiuc have a good ds program?
data science?
theres not
but there is one with illinois ccs
i think so
uiuc has this on their website
the "first choice admit rate" i assume implies that people with second choice also get admitted
bruh
is there any portal astro w uiuc
even if there is its not allowed on this server
what is portal astro
its where you can infer something about your application result based on certain details in your application portal (coincidentally it worked for purdue)
it's banned
ofc
bruh
idk where I can even click on myillini to get the decision
I can just see the self-reported courses I...did
bruh
it'll appear once its released
makes sense
does UIUC have financial aid?
i dont see it on my common app
i checked the PDF and searched for financial aid and nothing came up
how do I know if I applied for financial aid?
Do I have to report 1st semi grades through my Illini
No
The undergrad ds program is bad
You are better off doing CS + stats here for ds
None
Gotcha, and im assuming cs + stats is a pain to transfer into?
Eh if you got the grades not really
Can you do pure stats and land a job in DS
Yes especially at uiuc
Is it hard to double major in stats with another major in LAS ur freshmen year
uiuc and umich both come out on the 26th?
yuh i think
gt as well and umd is speculated
and uw madison
is purdue cs lower acceptance rate than uiuc cs+math/stats
i would assume they're about the same
~20%
+/- 5%
obviously, they introduced the 2nd major system as a rebound for those applying to a competitive major but may still be fit for another part of the college
Super easy
Great
when is release day? and time
26th idk time
7pm i think
what time zone?
good god
thats the day of my midterms
midterms in the morning and hopefully good news in the evening!
midterms in January is unfortunate
same
< 3% OOS CS Rate š„¶
weāre getting in trust š¤
itās a lottery
honestly, Iād probably have a better chance if it was a lottery
LMAO
2.8 gonna turn to 1.4
whatās your x?
anyone ditching school on the 26th
stat
and how interested are you in stats?
donāt they come out at 7 PM
good for you bro, thank god you aināt just applying to cs+x cuz slightly easier
thatās GTech
i thought it was 4pm
is it?
my school ends at 3 anyway
its usually 4-6 idk
4PM which timezone? CST?
I think so
wrong reply mb
honestly I have no idea
but pretty sure at least one of the schools releasing on 26th will be around lunch for me
if I at least get deferred
isnt it usually est
Iād assume itās usually what the timezone is at that university
but not too sure
do they still reject a lot?
yeah I was about to say
that makes sense
I feel like getting deferred makes it even harder to get in
yea
I got deferred Purdue and I know fs I aināt getting in
SAME LOL
itās literally a soft reject
usually they admit most from ea I think
bro I saw that LOCI in reply forms
I was like there aināt no chance Iām getting into GT or UiUC
SAME
was devastated after that
I DIDNT WANT TO CLICK
i surprising got into purdue but uiuc is like 1/3 the chances
BUT MY DUMBASS DID
š my friend checked theirs also didnt see any but in the end got deferred still
portal astrology
oh
LMAO
probably said something weird in his essays
yeah I guess
maybe his AO got divorced that day
what do u put on loci?
real
yk I was thinking of this possibility, but could Purdue just be deferring those they didnāt have time to assess?
did u also update ur grades)
were u supposed to?
thats how im coping
my semester didnāt end yet so I couldnāt yet
my sem 1 is almost over so I was waiting till then to send in LOCI
i mean it asked in the deferral letter
this gonna be umich for all oos
yeah I have like a week or two and then Iāll send it in
I doubt theyāll read mine yet
ah
yāall semester 1 isnāt over yet??
nope, I still have a week or two
Jan 26
wth
wait what
and then another week for teachers to finalize grades
hold on
thatās so weird for me
idk if thatās a good thing or not
shoot wait
should I send Purdue an email saying that my mid-year grades arenāt ready yet
i was worried asf my compsci project would bring my grade down to a 89 but in the end it stayed 91 did so bad on it š
uhh wdym
cause like I already sent my LOCI
good thing he doesnt do A-
but I canāt send in my mid-year grades yet
i think you can send them in seperately
idk maybe do it just in case
like request your counselor to
yeah Iāll probably do it tmrw
do u self report your mid year grades or is it sent by counselor for midyear report?
isnāt Purdue rolling admissions for rd now
or am i capping
thatās what I was thinking
what
for purdue?
ask your counselor to send em the grades
yeah thereās no self report option
purdue just had their deadline today
you have to send them in officially
it says by Late (or Early idr) March
I think he meant deferred
maybe im a bit slow but last year ppl got their deferral acceptance in two weeks
like after getting deferred and then accepted
TWO WEEKSv
(Im delusional)
thats fast
im hoping purdue doesnāt have a dead giveaway on your decision like the LOCI thing again
that thing killed my mood so hard
the tan box lived in my head rent free
i hope it does actually
š
what was that
I only heard about LOCI and smthn about the cancel button
another portal astrology thing
it was some stupid portal astrology that i took to heart
but i dk
what was the check thing next to to do list?
it does?
I actually see myself just casually walking down there one day
was it umich
eh it was ok
as a tourist
i liked how canes was close by
no like even as a student
my cousin goes there so we got an extended tour lol
otherwise uiuc was not really that eye grabbing to me
oh nice
he does cs + marketing and he said it was a lot easier to get into cs+x back then
sucks itās a lot harder now
do u guys suggest I do my css for jhu, its due in like 3 hrs but Im doing rd so idek if Ill get in
everything is harder now
DO IT
in 10 years uiuc cs will be 1 % oos
fr
yeah that might be more accurate
Harvard ā
uiuc cs oos ā
10 years, uiuc cs cant be admitted directly u will have to be a senior and take some google type interviews to get in š
itās already like UDub oos cs
nah itāll just be invite only at that point
gotta be hand oicked
there would be a pretest where u gotta solve difficult cs questions
placement test
jee main but cs only
data structures and leetcode
š
lmao
1 min per question and negative marking would be torture
question 1, abc...xyz
cs + stat is a rlly good combo for jobs Iāve heard
you can just do software developer or go into data science firlds
double up
ez moni
cs+stat acceptance rate is purdue cs oos or lower
Iād say on par
purdue cs oos is speculated to be 10%
okay so cs+stat higher
georgia tech is 10 oos too no?
isnāt +stat 13%
I think lower
or something
nah its like 18%
oh shit
maybe 20 give or take 5
I doubt Iāll make it but who knows!
itās gonna be lower for sure this year though
š
iām kinda insufferable as a person tho
lol i have finals in January
intl?
finals? god damn
yeah I just have midterms
I took my Econ cumulative on Friday and it was painful
yeah
heard curve is gonna be real nice though
do ivy interviews roll till mid feb
dw we can match
lmao
im reading my uiuc essays over and over again and it sounds generic asf
combined with my dumbass submitting sat i am fucked
as long as you have good ECās I think youāll be fine
I didnāt even read my essay again
it will only make you sad
A student at uiuc in this channel said if you have good stats they prolly ain't even reading your essays
I donāt have good stats
my sat threw my stats
fr
well then pray and hope for the best
if it was superscore it mightve been okay
10 days left!
they probably finished decisions
real
im probs not committing but yeah hope i get in!
whatād you apply for?
lol y'all will make fun of me
I doubt
journalism š¤”
im alr making fun of myself for applying to uiuc pure cs
cs+x*
thats like 4x the chances
nothing wrong in that lmao
why would people make fun of you for that
because like paying 60k oos tuition for cs at uiuc makes sense cuz it's top 10 for ca
when do decisions come out>
why pay that much for journalism when it's not even that great of a program
26th afternoon NA time
i mean im not committing to uiuc rn but i still like the school overall and my parents want me to double major in cs
to this day i still dont understand what double majoring in cs means
you do courses for both majrs
no double majoring as in journalism and cs
not cs and cs
prob meant cs+x
probably a joke on cs+x
I am
not me thank god
double acceptance š«
i canāt afford it whatsoever
i cant either
does anyone know when admissions come out
I was gonna but then my best friend said it's his top choice so i don't wanna hinder his chances
26th
because like im cracked and he's not š
ty
wait what
thatās crazy
same major too?
thatās wild
shouldve still tried
nah
i would've if it was my top choice or something
but i genuinely didn't care that much about umich and i liked other schools' programs more
i just apply to as many I can cuz i got fee waiver
in the end didnt finish stanford and caltech cuz the essays long asf
too many short responses too
i had umich on my list for rd based on ea decisions cuz it's Feb 1 but i got into good ea schools so im chilling
bro i was thinking of applying to cornell, rice, and UW-Madison but felt too lazy and didnāt apply
bro my predictions are delulu ok
howād 13 turn out?
isnāt UWash OOS less than 1 percent
accepted
thatās s UW- Madison
im manifesting starting my own YouTube channel and my first video will be "STATS AND ECS THAT GOT ME INTO EVERY SCHOOL I APPLIED TO (STANFORD UCHICAGO NORTHWESTERN UCLA AND MORE!!)"
wisconsin
oh nvm
noice
UCSD W nyu A is insane im ngl
for CS?
i meant what you had on the list was UW Madison
nyu not many ppl do cs but im also delulu
i thought nyu was pretty solid for cs
oh cs that makes sense
still leaning liberal arts, so chances should be slightly higher
wait im so stupid, wtf was i on about
dont think its even top 20 cs last i checked
good night
Lol im in India
11 am
Umd is 26?
RIP
HAHA NO
š
genuinely curious why would anyone go pure cs
even if you're the most qualified person its literally a lottery
imo the cs+x programs sound way cooler anyways + more job opportunities
prestige I guess
technically going to Columbia for ME or EE or Physics is not necessarily much better than going to UIUC for them but more people still apply to Columbia because it is a more well known name. Getting in pure CS is harder, so whenever you are bragging to people, they are gonna shit bricks when they heard you got in pure CS
You know it's really cool that they do this
I didn't even know they had that š
I probably should have done math or phys
i mean does anyone really care if someone is doing pure cs or cs+stat or whatever
imo someone must be extremely prestige obsessed to think that way
for us asian kids
its all about the rankings
Are dates out?
always been out 26th
dude I didnāt think I could show intent
bro
like interest in a different major
you got into purdue
cs only or cs+x
i did cs + math
i thought engineering was harder
there are ppl applying to ivies undeclared, their goal really is to get into a good uni first
School starts today and it is soo cold at uiuc ā ļø
Also my first class is CS/ECE 374 for an hr and 15 min lecture ā ļøā ļø
i wish i did cs+math
my supp for cs+ econ was pretty mid
i didnt even see cs+math was an option for cs+x
Is UIUC MechEng RD hard?
I donāt think itās hard as CS
Defo not
Youāll make it
hey brother how difficult is eng undeclared as t/o
put that as 2nd choice after EE
really praying i get in
i think they meant engineeringš
send pics if there's snow!
yup meant engineerinng
the number of times I've said eng and people thought i meant engineering when i meant English
First time seeing the opposite lol
probably bc grainger fills up lot of spots in EA and mechE is one of their more competitive majors
but if it doesn't hurt to apply then give it a shot fs
electrical engineering p sure
mech is easier than ee or harder
easier I think
easier to get in aswell?
yea i meant acceptance wise not curriculum
mech eng is 2x harder to get into than elec eng
this is unironically hilarious
" Getting in pure CS is harder, so whenever you are bragging to people, they are gonna shit bricks when they heard you got in pure CS" š
is ee that uncompetetive?
ee is like 40-45% lol
damnm
It's all snowed out lol
with a minor in cs are you bound to land cs jobs?
i think so
like swe
they dont really care about your degree
its about the experiences and internships that yo ugot + the interviews that'll land you the job
this is partially correct but the availability to career resources is much stronger with a major in a cs related field
thats true
the career fairs and outreach are huge when it's your major, you still can obviously grind towards a job on your own accord with a minor in cs and they will take note of that
A lot of the stuff in the EE degree is a waste of time if you are going into SWE
likely so
CompE is better for SWE
whats the best major for being a wanted cybercriminal responsible for numerous hacks on banks
Tho keep in mind that EE has high average score profile SAT average was 1517 for OOS last admissions cycle
You guys can get data about EE scores here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZozJAVx5LZsR1SPxqNrziAm9ikIkIQBn/view?usp=sharing
Beautiful ā¤ļøā¤ļø
For CS+ there is no solid data, just considered good if u are above 1500 for SAT
Adding on to this u guys can tell that the average for grainger is 1510 based on the website , EE seats right in the middle (starts the 2nd choice major) and you guys can kinda estimate the score expectation for competitive first choice majors(CS, Compe, Meche) and then other less competitive 2nd choice majors(IE, Systems, Engineering Mechanics etcs)
!uiuc
do u have one for aerospace?
Unfortunately no but should be similar to EE
Aero is considered upper bound of second choice majors
This is also the result of CS people having EE as second choice major, MechE people having Aero as second choice usually
please please uiuc gods let me in
Anyone know the exact time that we get results back next week
4-7
Also Illinois residents get priority on second choice right
its in the afternoon
Damn
uh yeah
Due to space limitations, Illinois residents will be given preference for admission into second-choice majors. Historically, non-Illinois residents who have listed the Undeclared program in the Division of General Studies as their second choice haven't been admitted to that program due to space constraints.
Alright cool
Materializing acceptance rn š
Samee
Materializing is crazy
how good is UIUC merit aid?
are you in state
for those that submit lol
lol im def getting in
Nope š
i got a friend doing it
yeah
who
yeah rlly no chance
they don't give out anything for out of state kids
Is there a number for how many scholarships are given out per year in general
Damnā¦.
Rip
šoh
well I mean they do
depending on your program
but realistically I've never seen anyone from my school or friends get one who went to uiuc
they're a lot more generous with aid for instate kids
Any idea how much more generous š
A few Illinois-resident students do get full-tuition scholarships, but most scholarships offered by the university are limited to a few thousand dollars per year.
it's not a lot unfortunately
I think most of their scholarship programs are targeted for instate kids since uiuc is a public school
What'd you get?
0
but I might be a little off on assets
how much would you estimate a family of 4 in illinois to have?
average household income was 110k
nvm should have used median
instate kids who's families make lower than 68k get a full ride guarenteed
Net Price Estimation
Based on the information you provided, the following calculation represents the average net price of attendance that students similar to you paid in the given year. Please print this page if you wish to retain a copy.
All numbers are estimates.
Tuition and fees:
$22,836
Food and housing:
$13,938
Books and supplies:
$1,200
Other expenses:
$2,500
Cost of attendance:
$40,474
Grant and/or scholarship aid:
ā $19,139
Net price:
$21,335
when I used 80k income and 100k assets
I don't even know my sai because the FAFSA screwed me over on that but the net price calculator says before aid or anything I'm around 37k
I redid it now it says 19k in aid
it's joever
based
based
based
based
im in state how likely is lik 5k a year
You mean like
How likely is it you'll only have to pay $5k a year?
Or how likely is it you'll get the $5k scholarship
@surreal kindle
get 5k
Ohhh, I have no idea then, instate myself and wondering the same thing š
What did u apply for
It's possible
not really but as long as you pull the grades you can get in
is there a way i could have them consider my sat score
i didn't check the box when submitting my app but now i kinda want them to consdier it :/
shld i js shoot them an email or is there a way to do it on myillini
i would ask admissions about that
yes
there should be an option on the app with an option to add test scores
right side request form
unless it is different if u never submitted in first place, then you should contact AO
I shoulda applied cs+education and then transfer into Econ
FUCK
I didnāt know you can transfer within cs+c
you can always transfer from another college
cs+x isn't too hard to transfer to from another college as long as your willing to settle for the truly horrible cs+x one's like
my supp wouldve been so much better if i did cs+education
cs + animal science lmfao
and all my extracurricular are about education/teaching
even my personal statement was about education
you can still siwtch ur major up
you see where it says program/term change form
just do that
i think its a little too late now
you can still do it
decision is next week
oh you did EA?
and i wrote my supp based on cs+ econ
yea
nah i dont even want to do cs+ education
i think itd be better for my whole app if i did cs+ education
to get into uiuc
BioE first choice, Chemistry second
wait can you switch between cs+x in your first year if its not under lsa?
it says this under intercollegiate transfers "All students seeking transfer to any other LAS major must have completed at least one course in the intended major, with a minimum 2.00 major GPA. Before changing colleges, students will be required to have completed at least one year (one semester for transfer students) in their present college."
No has to be las
Altho you can ict I guess in ur first year
Idk how hard it is I just know in las it's super easy
wait you can ict? doesn't it say you have to complete at least one year in present college to ict into las
hey guys u think i have a shot in ee or engineering undeclared: 3.92 uw, t/o, 766 in ib hl's, above average essays and ecs (finalist in international math comp), loads of clubs, leadership, first gen, international
Maybe then
I'm not sure about ICT
Yea
do u have any idea the % of people getting into ee or undeclared with t/o
Since when did they add official score report
I may have already asked but what do y'all think the likelihood of an instate getting into animal sciences with a 3.8 W and 100+ hours of a non profit veterinary internship as one of their main ecs would be
Animal science?
High?
Itās not engineering or cs so Iām sure not many are applying
Alright cool
!uiuc
!uiuc
Iām wondering that too
Would we be re considered
!uiuc
really
CS š
it's so joever
Hmm what does that mean
r u an illinois resident?
yes
ah
there r two paths:
- u r admitted already
- u aren't
if ur admitted already and u change ur major
gg ur cooked
if ur not admitted already
the flowchart branches again
- ur changing ur first-choice major (ur cooked)
- ur changing ur second-choice major (ur fine)
Ohh
i mean ur not turbocooked for changing first-choice major if not already admitted
this is like the worst outcome
it's just that u get sent to the Regular Decision shadowrealm

ye
idk why u would do that ngl
troll irl
But arenāt we already close to the ea decision day
yes
What if itās too late
lmfao
Ah okay
.
šæ
š
amogus

oh š„² have fun with that
bro you got into MIT and youāre worried about UIUC?
Mhm
that's like a little bit internal-organ-damage-causingly cringe
Iāll bill you for my hospital costs
a little bit intestinal-wrenchingly, world-endingly, laws-of-physics-bendingly cringe
internal bleeding in my eyes
wait so presumably you don't know this
that's tough š«š
thank
isnt physics just as competitive as cs
uiuc is a physics school is what ive heard
physics is not as competitive here or anywhere
physics is generally a major where you get 0 jobs if you don't go to grad school
for CS you can get jobs at big firms with an undergrad degree that is why many people go apply
at least 1 reason
UIUC is just overall a good stem school lmao
True
So not as much physics competition is what you saying?
Phys is generally less competitive because 95%+ are just trying to do research but then you have to deal with the country's smartest asses
because physics is generally a field where you need to have some sense of intelligence
and that is why I never even bothered with Caltech & MIT
a rant: i have no idea why i am even doing engineering, have no passion no desire no nothing for it. I wont even work after finishing my studies. Always wanted to do finance and going into IB, but here I am doing something I have absolutely no interest in and I dont enjoy
š
you can switch grad school I believe
and you still have a trade that you can profit off of
Did someone tell you to go into engineering?
asian parents man. was forced into ee (as its related to our business which i have absolutely no interest in aswell).
i was told in 2nd grade that I had to become an engineer from MIT
if i get in to any uni, id be robbing someone who actually has interest, of a place
š
its ur life dude, if u rlly dont have interest in it, then its gonna suck once u gotta work a 9 to 5 for the rest of your adult life
does anyone know the a/r for cs+ansci
@past widget
true but in our culture parents stay very involved in their children's lives. Kids don't move out aswell, so all this is very natural to them
if i didn't do engineering then they wouldn't have sent me abroad
Common case here
No one really applies CS + animal science
It's a very very niche major
No
Physics is not that hard to get into here
Hey guys
Itās been a great run
Being a uiuc supporter
But I just got rejected osu
So I have 0 percent of uiuc
have hope !!
what major did you apply for?
Eh it's fine
Wdym
OSU doesn't mean uiuc won't accept you
Uiuc way more competitive
Ur instate
Bad grades
Grades arenāt everything here
a number of very qualified kids got rejected from uiuc
from my school
and weāre instate
Actual footage of UIUC admissions officers deciding whether or not a student is admitted:
seems inaccurate, not rigged to 5%
how were ur grades pre compe
HAHAHA how tf is AR for cs intl > cs oos
im not even applying cs but this is fascinating
kinda makes sense
usually colleges do have like a req to accept x% of international for a good balance and uiuc is cs and engineering competitive so most ppl for international apply for those two causing the chances to be higher
sounds counterintuitive makes sense imo
im asian and im doing journalism lol
ofc every family is different but might be better not to generalize
yay
Intls pay more
Uiuc needs money
Is UIUC need blind for OOS
What time of day do uiuc decisions come out on friday? Anyone know?
I mean uiuc doesn't give any full rides basically unless ur income is super low
Iām willing to give UIUC all my money and more š
fr
my cousin got in full rideš
but tbf she's cracked as hell
ah maybe instate smth like that
ohh yeah she was in state
What time will uiuc release this Friday?
!uiuc
It's decent
We usually make it pretty far I think
We have more than 1
So yea
Just like get past regionals and stuff
The application still says you can change it but idk how that would work since it's a week away
you can but your application will be considered as a late one which will decrease your chances
Do you meet with an advisor before you pick your courses by default or is that something you have to schedule
i missed the ea deadline oops
F
its a little late for this dawg
Selection bias
They donāt have reserved seats for oos or into
Intl
And intl applications are more competitive
Intl ee is a higher acceptance then in state ee
ah
how helpful is icpc for resumes
would employers care if I made like WF
Eh not rly
Prolly helpful in interviews tho
Cause competitive coding is hella different from actual coding
would it matter more for like quant
jane street sponsors a lot of cp stuff
I think?
i think iāve heard ppl say 4 pm cst
I've heard that outside of campustown it's not the best
Campustown seems pretty cool thoigh
is it safe
Nah
I mean maybe
But quant is more math and stats
So usamo would be more useful
Are wassaja hall and Nugent hall both filled day one
Probably yea
They are mostly upperclassmen
You can train
Yeah thats my plan
If Im still not good enough by then ill just go for faang and then try and get into quant
how hard is cs + bioeng
dude my mom has got a shirt saved for me from her uiuc time ill feel so bad if I donāt get in
its much easier compared to just cs
I have a 3.4 bc of freshman year but a 1560 so idk
Why is applying for Grainger CS dumb?
If you canāt specialize in CS, then whatās really the point.
In CS+X, itās almost like you get decent at CS and the X but youāll never become proficient. The problem is similar to computer engineering. CE is worse for SWE prep compared to CS.
2% acceptnace rate
i think its lower
how will u not become proficient??
Think about it this way. When you essentially split the limited number of classes that you can take into two subject areas, you cannot get too deep into just one. If I were to pursue a pure CS major, I would be able to take graduate-level classes and advance my knowledge depth and understanding of the subject matter.
The admit rate was 7.5% for last year.
ion think it works like that
yeah ik ts an upward trend and i have reasons for it
7.5 is both instate and oos combined, oos could be 2%
got it
yeah so its a low chance but obv better than no explanation and no upward tend
what major?
cs+bioeng, bioeng second choice
math and science are my best subjects too
my b's after freshman year are all english lol
and i wrote decent essays imo?
and i mean uiuc has sat as important instead of considered and i'm like above 75th percentile
we'll find out soon
does decisions come out 4pm friday ?
apparently it was 3pm cst last year so 4pm makes sense
4 pm cst?
est
mb
we all getting in full ride š«
bro forget a full ride, iād be surprised if i even get in
will a 3.92 gpa and a 766 (ib hl's) compensate for goinng test optional
for ee and undeclared
Imo the value of college is not what ur learning
Its about connections and ppl u meet
