#University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) (2023-2024)
1 messages ยท Page 3 of 1
so im assuming the answer to my question is no they do provide scholarschips during rd as well
based on what the website says they don't really mention anything about RD or EA
so yeah
cs + ling most likely, all the other cs+x dont necessarily intrigue me
uiuc is pretty bad with aid tbh
gl getting anything as an OOS student
tuff
you got dis
ty but im rding which i regret a lot
is it a big difference to rd
wished i ea, and yes apparently its 30% more
im only wishing i ea, so that my mom stops bothering me about college
i can relate
you guys got this
i got into my state school so my mom isnt bothering me too much
it's hard to get anything as an instate student ๐
appreciate that
true
yo bro do you know how the stat program is and stuff
i am thankful im in cali lots of great schools and potential fianncail aids as well
i applied stat first choice and math second choice
downside is living in cali
idk much about the stat program
cali is lowk best place to be for college apps purposes
oh aight
ngl i love socal, but some hate it here
a lot of cali people are here at uiuc
there were 13 people on floor from california in my dorm
aye thats awesome. hope i fall within those cali peeps
ok yeah for context uiuc sucks with instate aid too
idek why
i was getting zero aid through them last i checked
same
are there a decent amount of nj people at uiuc
im from georgia lol but I didn't get into tech rip
i have a friend who got barely anything but still went despite having a full ride to a safety because he managed to get a whole ton of scholarship money
yes actually
in my sophomore year both of my roommates were from nj
oh wow
bett
how you liking CU
yeah thats fair
idk what im gonna do with summer heat if i go there its gonna kill me ๐
it's not that bad tbh
just wear a t-shirt and shorts
and drink a lot of water too
i've been to georgia in june it was so humid i felt like i was swimming through the air
ok yeah this is the number one thing i dont like
honestly the heat isn't the main issue it's the humidity
i made sure to not apply to any southern school EXCEPT tech because i hated the humidity
i ain't going any farther south than unc cause i think i would just straight up perish
lol
tech is my absolute hard limit
and unc already isn't much farther south than me
ATL isn't on a slight hill but it's more elevated than the costal plain
it's in the piedmont region which is much better than south georgia lol
south georgia feels like florida
still gonna be decent
atl during the winter is actually cold btw
cant be colder than here
yeah
polar vortex came in one time, high temp was like -15
before covid
i think i was around for that lol
i think 2019
oh ok
scariest thing about uchicago for me
i say i like the cold but i haven't experienced true cold
thats the exception not the norm
illinois weather varies so much from north to south
it does yea
we have snow in california ๐ญ
yeah but that year it probably got down to like -2 at the lowest here so average cold is much different
yeah in like lake tahoe and thats it
and the mountains
like 40% of the ppl i know go to the mountains when it snows like every winter
you cannot be saying you have snow if you live in socal
bro
rip to that one person who wrote in their stanford essay that they were looking forward to building snowmen
its not even an hour drive ๐ญ
we r too goated fr ๐ฏ
cali is nice
i went there this summer
cost to fill your gas tank: 2 million dollars
ive heard the housing prices and overall cost of living in California is nuts
yes
2b apartments where I live have like 3k in rent
it was 2.5k back a few years ago
now its like
insane
if ytou want like 3b it can get into the 4ks or 5ks
if you want a house its insane
some pockets of LA are getting better tho
i gotta say i would not pay very much to live in la
yikes
although it is true that the not so nice areas are just way over the top in terms of price now
What q u got
I'm uiuc stats
I'm in the stat dept at least
does stats there feel like ap stats
Uh no
Well a bit
But obviously a stat degree goes far deeper and stats at uiuc is very cs-y
Very computational
ah ic. if i wrote an essay on data sci and applied as a cs +stats major do u think it would be fine
Hmm I would not
i just heard is + ds is the worst
Cause uiuc offers data science degree
So you need to emphasize that you want CS and stats
And not data science
Even thought CS + stats is far more useful
For data science
hmm ic. ok im stuck with uiuc. i want to do cs + ling, but i just dont kno how. would tie them together, seperately yes i think i can write soething but i just havent done anything that ties thm
Hmm it's fine to sort of just speculate
Sorta be kike
I wanna do this
With CS and ling
Yah
How competitive is it to get in? What are the classes like (a lot of people and are they hard)?
stats? pretty easy
stats is not hard at uiuc, its pretty chill of a major if you got decent math background
I do know people that are heavily struggling in it though
How hard would it be to find a part time job to help pay for tuition near campus?
there is a lot of part time stuff
you can work in the dining hall
they give you free food too
so that covers two thigns
Ive taken calculus 1 but thats the highest, taking ap stat rn
also you can become a course assistant in your first year at uiuc
I mean are you comfortale with calculus
cause a lot of stat is calc unlike ap stats
its pretty easy to me
like differentials integration feels easy
That sounds pretty decent
Also would you say stat major cs minor is okay if i want to be a data engineer @keen ether
then you should be ok
yep
seems like a good idea
Yeah
that will help you out
hope i get in statscs
Cool
i think i should be fine
I applied LAS stat so I feel like i have a good chance of getting in
yea it should be pretty easy
but theres always that uncertainty
and trasnferrign into stat is easy
At LAS they accept by major right
but yea uiuc stats is super focused on the data side
Also I put math second choice so hopefully thats a good idea
yea
Yeah nice
a lot of people double stat and math anyway
Yeah thats what im interested in
Yeah
its like 48 credit hours
I wanna do stat econ and then cs minor
Something like that
I should also ask, for both of these options is there a way of telling how much I'd make per hour for it and is there also a way to may it go directly towards my tuition
you should double in econometrics instead
Yeah econometrics is underrated
uhhh
I am not too sure about that
statcs just sounds like taking cs but locked into the higher level stat courses which i want to do anyways
like data mining or ML
UIUC just joined an AI group though so idk if ill be able to do it given its grainger and im in LAS
yah
statcs
is truly like a double major
like everyone says cs+x isn't a double major
I feel like statcs really is kinda one
Are there good rso's if you like stat/ds
Also internships are like one of my biggest concerns at uiuc
yep
yeah true double major
you'll be fine
Aight cool
lots of people get internships here
Yeah thats what ive heard
I got one my freshmen year
so did a lot of my friends
some RSOs that could be cool
is like
the data science club
they do a huge data project every year
and uh the illini statistics club
and ACM
assume the impossible that i get in
yeah thats true tuition is like half the price
the only thing about that is ivy name which doesnt matter
and it DOESNT EVNE HAVE CORN ON CAMPUS
WE THE TRUE CORN SCHOOL
Yeah i wanna do stuff like that
for tech companies
no matter at all
career fairs get pretty big here
4 floors of just companies for 2 days just for the engineering career fair
ye
we sometimes have cool companies over
we had meta last year
lot of quant companies come over
Do you work in quant?
Uh
Not rly? But also kinda
The company I'm working at next summer deals with trading
I'm more software focused but software in the finance industry
Ah I see
How is the wlb for those types of jobs ?
I hear a lot of people in fintech work insane hours
Nice
Is there a limit to how many people are offered the presidents award per year, I got it at two other schools so I was assuming it's a thing that isnt based on school and is instead a country wide program
bruh uiuc is my state school so im lowk fucked
Bro you'll be chilling trust
3.2uw /3.7w
praying for yall
3.8 w out of 4 w?
Ye
i got a 1460 with 800 math so i hope that helps my case
Thats fire bro
Mines 700 math ๐ but 720 english
My ecs I feel are above average though
my main ec is teaching coding projects to over 500college students
and then robotics team
@red halo
3.7 uw though most of my classes arent grade boosters and the teachers dont know what theyre talking about
uiuc is llowk easy instate tbh
still a bit competitive
CS is competitive for instate
ive heard cases of people with great stats getting rejected
wait doesnt GaTech have like a 40% acceptance tho for EA 1 or smt
it's acutally 16% lmao
in state???
nvm it's actually 32% in-state
it's still not easy to get into for engineering and CS instate
dang
everybody wants to do CS nowadays lol
UIUC already got rid of transferring into grainger CS
I heard GT is doing the same due to overcrowding issues
why doesnt UIUC just move the other cs majors into grainger or something
bc they have like 14 other majors for CS
yeah they banned y1 transfers
CS+X makes money for LAS lol
oh lol
it's the same reason as to why ChemE is still in LAS
schools really need to expand their cs depts more ๐ญ
the main issue is that there are not enough people willing to go into academia after doing a CS PhD
ah rip
the salary in industry after doing a CS PhD is so much higher
You always got isu
UVA can make a spot for you
illinois tech ๐
imma be real
the one thing that completely sold uiuc for me was that one froyo shop they have
i went there in the spring and before then the last time i had froyo was like 7 years ago
๐ญ
Is isu real
Yah
are you talking about cocomero?
yeah i think that's what it was
their cs program is super good too tho the froyo is just a side thing
Yah fucking cocomero love that place
me too
Did everyone get the email asking you to apply for financial aid?
I choose โno needโ in application
Why they still asking me to fill?
Anyone from UIUC were u able to get into cs or stats with a B in calc
Check links in this channel someone posted acceptance rates for diff cs+x programs
I can't find anything concrete
guys pls tell me
CS + BIOE for male intl student how much chance
at UIUC
i am prolly better at Maths than an avg Kid here, but I didn't give your AP testss cuz they always clash with my final exams at school
Chancing isnโt allowed
The acceptance rate for that probably less than 20
today i withdraw ๐ซก
Goodbye soldier
i'll take your spot thanks
continue the fight my valiant bretheren
Grats on Cornell!
Iโm taking ur spot
๐ thank youuuu
I'm sure we will meet at a CS conference soon ๐ซก
In which do I have an higher chance: CS + Chem or CS + BioE
Any CS+X degree is going to be hard to get into.
Doesn't matter if it is new or not.
Nah it won't be that low
CS + x programs are less competitive than Grainger CS
oh really
Also considering most people don't know about CS + x actually
i thought a lot of people would be applying to the cs+ x since its a higher acceptance rate than normal cs
A lot of grainger CS people I talk to wish they knew before they applied
thats why i assumed the acceptance rate would ber eally low
Only a2c is like really familiar with cs + x
The average applicant doesn't do enough research
math&cs and stat&cs r different from the rest right?
interally no
theyre all blended cs majors
What major combination is the stinkiest do yโall think?
in terms of cs+x?
probably math/stats
but who knows maybe phys or bioe will take over
CS + theoretical physics
That's a good major
Because most people arent as obsessed with college apps like y'all are
You guys are the minority ๐
I prefer math over economics
Mmm technically
But not really
Ohh interesting
You can switch super easily
My second major is math
Take MATH 347 and you'll be able to switch in
So I was thinking maybe I can get into math and then Iโll apply to transfer into cs +math
Canโt you transfer into cs+x but not granger
Once you are in any CS program it's easy to switch around but if you are outside the CS loop it's super hard
Yea but you can switch from CS + x to another CS + x super easily
Is uiuc admissions major blind?
But from pure math to CS - math is competitive
Very much not
no not at all
i mean theres a reason that CS is as difficult as ivies
Mmm getting into CS + math from pure math is a challenge
You land anything below an A- and you ruin your chance forever
i put in statscs 1 and EE 2
Oh damn
but if i only get EE its unlikely i go
Does uiuc accept dual enrollment classes?
But if you make the grade it's not too hard
Cuz Iโve done calc 1/2 Lin alg discrete math and diff eq
Oh then yea
So if they donโt accept them imma be pretty screwed
But to get into CS + math you need to take math 347
ive done up to mvc
Not trynna retake Lin Alg๐ญ
Which is fundamental mathematics
Whatโs math 347
(mvc sucks rn)
For sure definetly here lin alg is taught like shit
I chose diff eq next semester instead of mvc
Less calculating more like writing proofs
Is that like discrete math
we only have mvc as a full year course ๐ญ
Sorta it goes deeper than discrete
Are you taking it as dual enrollment?
Or dot why offer at your hs
yea
Just a warning just cause you are good at calc doesn't mean youll be good at fundamental math
Because it's very different
Ohh weird itโs full year
And tests very different ability
How bad is diff eq?
i dont have the time nor energy to take classes at an actual cc
Iโm taking data structures algorithms physics 2( ap equivalent ap physics c electricity) diff eq and discrete math
Next semester
So in a little worried about the workload
Data structures most likely will not transfer in
Idk why but it's been tough for people to transfer data structures into uiuc
Most people end up retaking it
Are the cs +x significantly easier to get into?
Mmm probably lower now
fair
I'd say stats CS could be a 15% rn
๐
Of Urbana Champaign
It's in the middle of nowhere but it's not necessarily boring
If you like drinking you'll love this place cause the "drinking age is 19"
The bars have power over the local govt so yeaa
Thatโs why I wanted to go to uwash over uiuc
๐
Seattle must be fun to live in over Champaign
Lol
Nahh I donโt drink๐ญ
But also a lot of serious ppl
But Iโd like to have some fun in college
You'll meet the full spectrum
Are you first year?
location is the #1 deterrant for me
Sophomore
its why im simping for gatech
I think my best chances for like a good cs school is gatech
though i will say CU isint bad
I applied to umd uwash uiuc gatech nyu
ill prob be waitlisted too tbh
Apply to CS is ass cause the acceptance rates are dogshut
What were your stats
1510 sat and like 3.86 uw gpa
yeah they just restricted it
Had like 5 intl awards tho ๐
That is crazy
to transfer
How do you get awards
I got rejected by like 12 schools when I applied
Competitions
ngl i shuold be expecting rejections except for uiuc
I think Iโd be decent at like math Olympiad and integrations need and stuff
๐ญ
But I never knew how to do that stuff
Mmm yea
Whereโd you apply
reaches
uiuc, gatech, udub, umich, cmu rd, corn rd
I also wanted uwash but their CS acceptance rate for out of state is 2%
So I got in but not for CS
For what major
Whatโs udub
Uwash
uiuc is i think a lock
It's another way of calling it
Ohh I see
Udub for W
Prescience
Basically undeclared
Is it possible to transfer into cs at wash?
I could be like a math major at udub
Minor in cs
You could prolly still get jobs in the industry with that right?
Yep
my gpa is low as shit ๐
Major actually doesn't matter too much for job hunting
for these top schools
If you got the skills you got the skills
Don't submit
Good
i wish either covid didnt exist or that covid got me dead
cause either way i wouldnt have to worry ๐
I know a lot of grainger CS students with sub 1500 sats because they didn't submit
im submitting a 34 to everything
It was so bad
You think it hurts not submitting?
35 stem score ๐
Gtech median is like 1450
Do they compare me with cs applicants or the median?
CS applicants
Ohh damn I didnโt know
There's too many CS applicants to compare with other people
I thought they were major blind in admissions
They say but it's not like they can accept 20000 CS majors
Rough ๐
would a 34 be fine for gatech cs
Idk act that well
Itโs out of 36
around 1520 idk
Dude
34 is like 1500-1530
Hm
Okay? ๐ก
1520 that's around my score when I applied
my thoughts are my score is only bad for cmu scs
CS be like 10 times harder than other majors
Don't submit
Iโm lucky I donโt have to deal with that ๐ญ
Cmu CS average sat is literally 1580
i think its fine for corn though
Mmm yea
i might change major to undeclared coe for corn, though my eng problem is about algos ๐ญ
Bro Iโd be lucky to get in anywhere ngl๐ญ๐ญ
Iโm gonna have my associates
At least you'll be going to college
By this spring
Yโall donโt have safeties?! ๐ญ
That's good graduate early from college
So I was planning on going back to community college for a semester and apply as a transfer
Nah I didnโt do any safeties
Hm might be worth
Iโd just go back to cc and apply as transfer
๐
@keen ether if i change major at corn to undeclared should i rewrite my engineering problem supp
Problem supp???
rn its about making an algorithm to solve students forgetting to bring shit back
wtf is the problem supp
describe a problem and how youll fix it w engineering
All I wrote was why cheme and what experience made u do cheme
wtf??
Did we have different supps????
Bruh
I thought corn was a nickname for Illinois ๐ญ
Were u deferred???
yeah if i get rejected from cornell im roasting it live on vc
didnt apply
im applying rd
more so to not regret applying tbh
If you get rejected can you hear like feedback on your app?
yโall is a 36 ACT good? ๐ค๐ค๐ค
i have no shot of getting in and i know it
Should I apply Stanford RD with a 32 ACT/TO ๐ญ my ECs arenโt really that good
I saw some guy did a vid on like his Stanford app and the reviewer left comments
Always worth a shot
He probably got in
He did
I saw my admissions file for uiuc cause I got in
Ohh what kinda comments did you get
But I know Iโll get into at least one of my reaches ๐ญ also I donโt wanna pay that Stanford app fee
are you thinking about switching into CompE if you get into EE
why would i willingly live in california
I'm about to take off on a flight
yeah thats my plan
Are your full stats on Reddit?
So might not be able to link the reddit
lol
every CS reject in EE i met did that lol
Aight I'm flying gg
cya
Read that those are my comments
Gonna check it out
i see
FUCK
What was your highest math class
The why major essay isnโt even supposed to be about UIUCโs curriculum ๐ญ
Same
I got a B in algebra 2 calc 1 and calc 2
Grade inflation at my school >>>>>> ๐
What is everyoneโs predictions for their schools?
I think rejected for everything except umd
Maybe a waitlist for UIUC or gatech
Or a deferral
Whatโs ur list
Umd uwash UIUC gatech northeastern nyu
STRAP IN FOLKS WEโRE GETTING IN TO GATECH AND UIUC!!!!
Inshalalh
INSHALLAH
im not as concerned about uiuc
considering i live here
but gatech oh boy
and not gonna start on the RDs
Iโm oos too
U were EA GaTech right???
yeah here too
I think the order for mine is UIUC, UMich, GaTech, UW Madison
got iowa in like a day after i sumbit cause im an autoadmit
Ohh umich
I was considering applying
Whatโs psu
W
blud lives in Iowa
damnit sat took a while to submit so i got pushed to rd
no i live in il
its just that iowa doesnt admit holistically
idk
but this year EA decisions are on the 26th of jan
Does the +x major you apply for cs+x matter in terms of admission?
yes
Alr
cs+x is kind of misleading imo it's closer to x+cs
Calc bc
i see
oh really
I disagree
More CS than the X
So makes sense to be CS + x
Cause no matter what CS + x you chose you take all the core CS classes that grianger cs takes
interesting
I didn't talk about the curriculum they just thought my goals don't align with statistics and CS well
just praying i get into cs+econ
how were your essays
No my year it was February
oh mb
admissions are brutal
You might be getting it confused with X + DS
Where the X side actual is more classes than the DS side
Which is why they placed X Infront of DS rather than after
Are the data from that reddit spreadsheet accurate?
Like the admit rates?
Cuz like some cs+x majors were like 50%+
They are like two years old now
So yea
They are lower than that
I suspect non competitive CS + x to be similar
Yeah but then again the applicant pool is kinda small right
Gets bigger each year
There are more CS + x applicants than pure cs now
But not by too much more
Oh damn
And CS + x I mean every CS + x
Also the applicant pool is small but there aren't many seats
Like CS + bioEng is like 20 seats
Wait
In the common app
How were you able to select it?
I hope I didnโt accidentally dual major myself instead of second choice major
its second choice dw
Is +X only for cs?
dang
it's brand new so that's why i guess lol
i think cs + econ is like 20ish percent acceptance
dont know how many seats they have
is cs and math an option in the cs+ x
i dont see it listed on the website
did anyone else get that weird email with the pet rock and the kid trying to apply the college and the subject was, "In case you needed a little laugh"
genuinely what was the punchline because my and like 5 ppl i showed it to could not figure it out
yeah i ignored it
Not in Grainger
Select LAS
And you'll have the options there
Probably 50ish?
thats it?
It's very new, second year
Mm yea
They accept more than 50 cause they know not everyone will come here though
I think it's 50 or 60 seats per year
For CS + econ
It was something like that for CS + stats as well
Hmmm idk
Mmm yea my year we had 60 seats for CS + stats
And we are the biggest +X I believe
applicant pool only gets bigger i assume
Yeeep
@red halo did u getinto UIUC?
I don't think decisions are out
brah we still got a month left
no decisions lol
Did you guys get any email from Gtech? Heard some colleague may send out likely letter before admission?
Hello, where can I potentialy search courses and profesors at UIUC for why us essay?
the website
UIUC has a why us essay????
When I applied it was only about your major
I submitted my app I don't remember writing one...
Yeah heโs probably talking abt the why major essay but if you mention the UIUC curriculum itโs probably a bad look because youโre not following the promptโฆ
Also on the UIUCโs official blog post they made mock essays of the two supp prompts and neither of them mention curriculum/professors
If I remember right it was also super short so there wouldnโt be a lot of room for it
i think there's just an essay that related to why u wanna study ur major(s) there
Thatโs what I remember
I did cs+ economics, but my problem is that the economics part of my essay was pretty tangential
I wrote about wanting to become a professor and teach cs and then having my students do research to use their knowledge in cs to create predictions of economic models
๐ญ๐ญ
Hmmm
You want to balance X and CS in ur essay
My issue was not enough X in my essay
swear to god if i get rejected as an instate im gonna lose it
gl bro
thanks
good we are THE corn school
fun fact: theres actually a cornfield ON campus and i think its near the agriculture college
and you can actually go to it if youre like an agricultural major
And if you are not you get expelled
lmao
only if they find out
anyways guys im switching to cs and crop sciences no reason at all /s
is it more in the middle of nowhere than purdue?
but uiuc is cooler logo so its ok right
Less
It's more urban
Than Purdue
We have tall buildings
Purdue doesnt
Purdont
puerdo and puerdont
Yes, mostly the "don't"
is purdue bad
all central illinois cities are in the middle of nowhere
it's kinda crazy looking at the map
Yes it's a shit college
why
Cause Purdue sucks
purdont
poodoo
illinoisans are required to purdont
Purdue is where umich and uiuc rejects go
bruh
how do you know
actually uh uh uh no
I applied to engineering so uh uh uh
I just realized I mis copy pasted the two purdue essays, the good old switcheroo, the second prompt in first and the first in second and I submitted it like that
yeah, prob gotta be rejected but good thing I didn't do the same for uiuc so thats good
It's just a joke lol
the Bruh is for...because I actually ea'd umich and uiuc and rd'd purdue
oh ok
all three are good stem schools
well umich is good at basically everything, albeit not as good as ivy leagues, but uiuc is cracked at stem
yeah but im not stem
wait a minute I have seen you
ah nvm
well UIUC is just so good at a lot of things, idk why are they only 30~40
I hardly believe it isn't t30
its next to the library
uh what
nvm
Cause public schools get fucked in the rankings
If we are only considering publics uiuc is a t15
this
im assuming they got weighted towards class sizes
which public schools inherently suck at
small class size != objectively better
Most of the public schools inevitably have disadvantages when it comes to overall rankings. But just like uiuc, they can have departmental or college based control, which makes certain majors or college stand out. (eg: computer science or grainger)
and its not like private colleges dont do this either i think
there are certainly deparments colleges put more money into
CS 225 gang lol we will get fucked by CS/ECE 374
Certainly! Like NYU you can think of stern, Upenn Wharton
yeah
True
gl yall
Have u taken 374 fotor
nope
EEs aren't required to take 374
Ah right
ive been hearing 374 is a harder version of math 213
if so ill be avoiding that class like the plague
Much much much much much harder than 213
They aren't the same material
It's very different material
CE is required to take 374
But the ece prof is way nicer than the cs one and you guys get curved like 10%
For reference 213 covers discrete math like proving etc, while 374 is about algorithm analysis and models of computation like languages and state diagrams and the such
Also it's the class with the lowest average gpa in the CS core curriculum
i kinda read this essay as why i want to pursue this career not necessarily why us
hello can someone look at my shitty essays
i kinda did why i want to pursue this major/career and how uiuc will help me do so
sure
yippee
I can take a look
thats why ill try my best to avoid it for as long as possible
Maybe someone has an answer to this but does uiuc over stress senior yr grades
I think I might have choked on the calc final
I could only miss 5 but I already know I missed 3 so idk if I got an A on that final to keep my A
Nah Iโm doing RD thatโs why
All gud. Ya no Iโm pretty sure no one has the answer but if any of the uiuc people know or anyone know I just wanted to ask cuz senior yr grades seem to consist of few Bs for me
few Bs is prob not gonna break app imo anywhere tho
maybe a few Cs but not Bs
One of the Bs is in stem which is a bit concerning to me
Which is ap calc
Okay but be fr a B is not bad ๐ญ
If youโre rejected itโs not because of the B
how bad is RD engineering compared to EA
is 1500 a good enough scor for ece(ea)
can you just leave the selection for a second major blank if you dont intend to have a second option?
the commonapp is bugging
because it says to state the same major in the second choice as the first choice to not be considered for a second option
but I dont find computer science or computer engineering in it
can you refresh it or smth
log out and log in
I had the same thing back then with cornell where I checked everything but the section's green checkmark would not appear like what is going on guys
does UIUC see my combined math + ebrw score or they see both score separately? and do they accept superscore? is it worth it superscoring from 1470 to 1480 ?
yeah they don't superscore
Is double majoring hard in LAS
it is doable depending on the majors
i would ask the uiuc subreddit about it
What is las
College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
no problem
Thanks
It wouldnโt be any CS
๐ real tho
Wdym
A2c loves cs
Oh ๐ญ๐ญ true
๐๐
They peeping my LinkedIn? ๐
It's quite a bit harder
Super easy
Unless it's a CS + x you wanna double with
Most LAS majors double anyway because las majors are supposed to be short and basically completable in 2 years
So it's super common to double
Especially with stuff like stats
I do phys, which is somehow in the engineering college (what), is it even possible for me to do dub maj
In LAS? You'll need a double degree
Dual degrees
hold on let me take a look
why do they have phys in eng anyways
that's like the UK joining the american union
they used to have two separate physics majors, physics in LAS and engineering physics in Grainger
a few years ago, both were merged into a singular major within Grainger
damn
i hopped out the class at LAS
with a dream and a cardigan
welcome to the land of smelly sweats
am i gonna fit in?
jumped in the cab, here I am for the first time
look to my right and I see the corn field signs
this is all so crazy
everybody seems so nerdy
lol
๐
That's crazy

Phys is in eng cause I think it's more applied now
Also so all physics resource are in one place
Thank you
Is DS any trouble to switch into/ double major
I know itโs fairly new, but itโs kinda relates to CS
There is no DS major
At uiuc
Only X + DS but I highly don't recommend them
Because they are not technical enough to find a data science position
If you wanna do data science do a double major in stat
Or double major in cs + stats
Or minor in cs and double in stats
Stats at uiuc is quite data science focused other than the fact that it's all in R
Does ds + stats not exist
Is minoring in CS difficult?
Thatโll be impossible to go into CS. I want to mix humanities and stem
Do you have any thoughts on information science
What are your thoughts on information science
Can you add a double major in cs+x?
is it possible to transfer into cs + econ after being accepted for info & data science
