ok so everything im going to say is very diluted info because my mom's friend's daguther goes to mit and my mom was telling me about what her friend said so i heard it like three times removed from the source but im just putting it here so take it with a grain of salt
said friend got rejected ed1 uchicago, got into upenn and was ready to go but then got off the waitlist at mit and committed there. this info is to kinda show she was a very competitive applicant. she's done a ton of research has like a 1590 bunch of aps etc etc. her high school routine was obv very rigorous and her ecs are like worldclass. she's doing pre med i think. its only been one semester but she hates it at mit. she's always sleeping late, always struggling, the classes are extra hard and she cries to her mom everyday. she hasn't considered transferring or anything yet because its literally just been a sem and she wants to see if its just homesickness and it gets better but yeah she did NOT have a good first semester. i dont know why exactly im saying this but like. fair warning ig.

im pretty good at a specific part of physics that being particle interactions and plasma physics. I suck at Newtonian and classical mechanics, though. I feel like with enough studying, you could get to do the research I've done. The real kicker is the creative approaches and problems I've solved, which differ ig.

I have a personal lybrary of maybe 20 high level maths and physics books. I havent finished any lol. I just read parts of em depending on the problem I need to solve. For my current research rn, I was trying to calculate exactly how much an electric field generated by a voltage multiplier affected my x-ray generator, so I referred to one of my field analysis books.

if you have the funds try doing ML research but with an irl robot. Engineering research is "easier" to add on to. Maybe try to use some esoteric ml algorithm for some physical thing people wouldnt think
