to everyone who got rejected/deferred, i remember that exact same feeling of just nothingness after opening my mit ea app last year. i remember being angry that all that work id put in was gone down the drain, i remember being disappointed knowing i probably would never have the chance to study at this school such id built a mental shrine to, and most of all i felt guilty, like id let myself down, my friends down, my parents down. the only reason I’d ead mit in the first place was because my dad had come up from nothing to go to iit and i wanted to make him proud by going to the closest analog here in the states. i remembered thinking that because i wasnt going to mit all my friends who had been rooting for me would think less of me for some reason, or that i should also look at myself as less. but all of that is not real. an year further down the line i’m incredibly grateful i didnt get in because i think i ended up right where i should be, and i know it may not seem like it rn but all this shit happens for a reason. even if mit has been your dream school since forever, or you can’t see many other places youd love to go, i promise the correct school or the correct path is whats destined for you. don’t think any less of yourself, don’t aim any lower, an year from now wherever you are you’ll be thriving and surrounded by amazing ppl having the time of your life, and you’ll think back abt how much unnecessary stress all this shit was. love you all and good luck for the rest of app season 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
