Sure! If you're thinking of transferring into Pratt, you would need to do so NOW. Or begin taking Pratt pre-reqs now. You usually aren't able to transfer after freshman year. It's easier to switch out of Pratt to another major than switch in.

Yes, do Pratt. Every ECE major I know is an ECE/CS double major

Pratt has a first year engineering requirement thats a pre-req to every othe engineering pre-req that are pre-reqs to the actual engineering courses in your major. If you miss out on those first few pre-pre reqs in the first year then they don't let students transfer into Pratt with rare exceptions. Students who are not in Pratt can't take Pratt courses either so it's not like you can dabble to see if you like engineering as a non-engineering major.

The inverse is true though, Pratt students can and are encouraged to take classes outside of Pratt.

But just to put it on a numerical scale, Pratt degrees have 34 credit requirements just to get the major while other non-engineering majors are like 15.

It's exponentially easier to ask to switch right now versus starting the engineering elective sequence a semester late

Usually at some time in July they'll give you details on course selection stuff in which case you might be able to do that then because usually you're assigned an acadmeic dean who would approve and facilitate that process.

Okay. So you would have to transfer to pratt first then or ASAP in december is usually when they let you do that now but it's hard to transfer in. Regardless, are you thinking CS in Trinity?

Generally you have to do it first semester freshman year for Pratt transfer. The reason I asked in response to your original question was because there are some classes for some majors for some schools (I know it's weirdly specific) where you can test out of pre-reqs depending on which AP classes you took. For example, if you're going to pursue a degree that requires calculus, it's really nice to score a 5 on AP calculus and test out of the calc requirement (you might have to do additional math to make up for it, but that's worth because duke calc is usually not fun).

at least for neurosci i know you test out of all math reqs

testing out of physics is really nice, but otherwise, your score doesn't super matter to duke and you don't have to report the scores. I wouldn't report the score if you failed the ap exam though because they do want to see good academic excellence after you committed so I wouldn't send them examples of like you getting a 1 or 2. but as long as you don't send the score you're fine. I don't remember if the college board lets you pick and choose which AP exams you share with a school.

The other way to think about it is that scoring well on physics e&m might make the transfer process smoother. I did Duke BME so I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
