they admitted less students this year than normal, which i think has led some people to theorize that they're taking more of the waitlist for yield purposes, but i suspect they took less people cuz they over enrolled the past couple of years. no one really knows tho all speculation

According to the admitted students seminar recently, 43,000 applied with a 3.7% acceptance rate, that implies about 1600 (1551-1631) people were accepted.

For data from past years, the only one we have clear data on is the 2021-22 application cycle, in which 2460 were admitted and 2053 enrolled w/ an acceptance rate of 6.5%.

While this may make it seem like uchicago underadmitted by at least 400 students, the cds includes not only the waitlist, but also those who deferred attending, nonstandard admissions, and any other first-time non-transfer admit.

Using this along with data from the class of 2027 profile (less clear, assuming to be first-time first-year), and with the increasing yield rate, we can predict the amount off the WL:

Of the ~1600 accepted, estimated ~1500 enroll
~150 transfers are admitted w/ ~120 enrolling
~50 admitted yellow ribbon, other nonstandard
1500 + 120 + 50 = 1670
(Total undergrads / 4) - 1670 = 1882-1670 = 212 students attending off the waitlist, so ~220 admitted off the waitlist.

With a similar methodology for last year's accepted students info (38800 apps w/ 1620 admit) it would be nearly identical, the only thing changing is just that more students applied - it doesn't seem like they changed up much this year, just that even more people applied. (sorry for the length of this, i'm procrastinating my homework)
