#Dartmouth College (2023-2024)
1 messages · Page 4 of 1
its sad because i had to do an interview to get into my high school and i think i panikced less four years ago than now
ru in a populated city area?
nyc yea
sorry thats random
ooo ok
well i am near DC but i havent gotten a request yet and im like ugh
its ok i feel like ppl always think they did worse than they acc did. i promise the interviewers have seen worse and u were def totally fine dont overthink it
dartmouth only takes 1-2 students each year from my school and two kids applied ED1 this year and one got defferred, one got rejected
i got an interview request two days ago and sent a reply yesterday but havent gotten a response lol
they dont have a quota
or 3 days ago
yea pton usually takes at least 1 REA from our school a year but everyone got rejected this yr sooooo
not to scare u oops that was not my intention i was just rying to say its so random PLS
ughhh why do people do thissss
i think my interviewer didnt show up on the original date and then ended up not emailing me back to reschedule for like a week
Why is college so compeititive lately
i cant do this
mine made me confess to getting into usc
when do yall think is too late to receive an interview
💀
like early march?
i would say interviews happen throughout feb till early-mid march so
ish
just hope for sometime in the next few weeks
you may not get one, that's okay too
im so glad she didnt ask if i got in anywhere
it doesn't mean anything about you
yeah i get that, i just typically do well in interviews so i think it could help a bit
mine went well though so ig it turned out okay
i did get scared and called usc my safety on accident though
!ivyday
Ivy Day decisions come out <t:1711666800:F> in your local time
1 month, 22 days and 23 hours until the decision date
stop
thats practically two months
💀
im lowk just counting down until march 5 bc that marks my next decision and then after that i get at least 1 per week so tis gonna bve crazy!
ya idrk when either but i know the general dates r pretty much every week of march
im either gonna b happy or miserable in march
i got into case western so i only applied to top universities
i love how my mother is being so dramatic right now
she thinks i have to commit to case 💀
pls me w vt
w
thought this was interesting
Wow, big day for Dartmouth News
it is truly a day of all time
yep
does dartmouth heavily analyze your midterm report?
dam
do you think the hockey team can unionize
my grades dropped :/
how bad
all Bs?
oh just one B
the decision should apply regardless of sport
did you ever meet any of them?
the hockey players
Yeah
i heard they usually take 12 year terms
I had friends, more on the women's team
to remain eligible
12 year terms?
or like they stayed at dartmouth for 12 years
and took like only one class a term
that wouldn't work. You only get 4 years of NCAA eligiblity
olympic class skiiers do a slower progression
normally doing like 2ish terms a year
oh really? i thought the hockey players did that too
so it's just skiing?
yes, and for skiiers who don't ski for Dartmouth
like olympic/national team tier
otherwise they'd run out of eligibility really quickly
what's their eligibility?
like i just said, you have 4 years of NCAA eligiblity
like i know some hockey players who did 5 years sinc they took one off to play in the oylmics
ohhhh
so a bunch of 06s who graduated in 07
and a girl in my class who was admitted as a 09 but deferred to play
you played some club sports right?
is varsity for the school? im not sure of the classifications
oh for what?
sailing
oh haha that's what my interviewer did i think
he was a recent grad though so im not sure if you'd know him
did you get in for sailing or did you walk on?
walk on
back then there wasn't a ton of recruiting for sailing
and I wouldn't have been recruited anyways
why so?
i'm too big, didn't have the right high school experiene
did you play anything else besides sailing
i played club soccer and squash. Intramural soccer, hockey, basketball, tennis, softball, uhh...
holy
would it be hard to get involved in sports if you've never done them before? i think hockey, tennis, volleyball, triathlon, and skiing would be sick
I think there is club ski racing
do you guys have freestyle snowboarding?
you can do learn to play hockey for PE
that sounds awesome
I don't tihnk so
yeah, i did it. It was really fun. A few of my friends on the women's team taught it
club teams vary. Some are really open to newbies, others are pretty competitive
what are the most competitive sports there?
for club? Soccer tryouts were pretty selective, since I graduated they added a B team. Figure skating wins national comps all the time, but they may take a lot of people and only the very bets compete at that level
is hockey club selective?
i'd assume given the area it's got to be
very cool
like I said, you can take skiing as a PE course
Im finna play intramural soccer
im gonna do ski
What are the acceptance rates for different test scores? Is there a graph somewhere?
sort of
look at the nytimes article
This shit prolly from 1990
Ah I thought it was from last year
Here
right for sure
Even before this decision, they definitely valued it more than other ivies
Dartmouth was one of the first to say they prefer test scores
🤞
Good shit Dartmouth
that is just because intls have a way harder time in general
Is it too late to submit SAT scores to dartmouth?
If I applied test optional and wanna change it
call and ask
Does anyone have this????
I’m so confused cuz I didn’t upload anything I didn’t even get my portal until like December 31st
your counselor may have sent it
I have two of those as a deferred applicant and I don’t know what they contain lmao
i did send an update through email (cuz the portal didn’t allow uploading at that time) days before the ed decision so maybe one of them is that but i have no idea what the other one contains
hmmm I’m not Ed tho help
mmmm, couple weeks still
maybe ur mid year?
it sends auto if you had dartmouth listed on commonapp then
Ah makes sense
the date is before my counselor uploaded my midyear report
i don’t think i need to figure it out it doesn’t really matter the decision is coming whether i know what it is or not
Dang im just now seeing this but W dartmouth for test required
Too bad its not our year
is a 1520 good enough for dartmouth?
Yes
ok ok thanks 🙏
no look into your local community college
lmfao
would it be better to look at my high school comparison or the national comparison on naviance
is 1480 good enough for dartmouth guys?
yes
wdym by cc
community college
💀
yes esp since theyre going test required now
anything above=to the 25th percentile
they are definitely considering scores still
even though they say they aren't they definitely are
especially since this year was so bad they had to change things
I was the only kid applying to Dartmouth at my school who submitted a test score and I got deferred and the rest didn't submit theres and got rejected
I think i am too and i submitted a 1460
I did rd though
Is a 1460 too low
no
Hey any idea whats the last date/time you can expect an interview from Dartmouth?
mmmm later this month osmetimes
hmm, k thanks
yeah i just got an email to schedule one yesterday
idk i submitted a 1450 because my school average is like sub-1000 💀 so i had no idea what was a good score, I thought mine was immaculate
Wait did u guys get a email
Asking to submit mid year report
i don’t think I was suppose to get the email
yeah just did, or actually it was directed to my guidance counselor
i was tagged in it too
ya
i live in the middle of no where upper peninsula michigan so i hope the ruralness helps me
my school only offers two AP classes (Calc and CSP A) and I didnt take either because I am taking Calc I and Calc II through a local CC and I felt like I'd get bored in CSP
but i am gonna complete an associate's degree via dual enrollment this semester (alongside my HS diploma) do you think that helps my admissions chances, i honestly dont know
sounds like you did the right thing
sound like you're taking rigorous classes
we get told your SAT grades
plus college board should have it
yeah
wait so like colleges get told ur high school sat average?
like the average SAT score from ur high school
Oh makes sense
normally it ould be in school profile, they can also probably look it up on Landscape
yeah should be in the school profile
Oooooo
is submitting a 1480 a good idea when my schools average is 1180
yes
why cornell got beef with dart 😭
i remember a thread where ivies rate their "equals"
and every one rated others but cornell didnt rate dart
not equals, peers
Dartmouth is like 1/4 the size of Cornell
they arenn't really peers
i would assume so, but you shosuld jut assume they don't exist
ah ok cool!' thank youuu
is there a specific format in how i send in my application update to the dartmouth app portal or can i literally just send in a document that has a few sentences about the update
can anyone not access dartmouth's portal?
mine is fine but has an update?
agejbekgjage i need to update them about a mistake on my mid-year report but idk how to format it 🥲
i'll just send them the same thing i sent my other schools then
@gentle iron can you get into ur app portal
yeah
i just see this too
are you sure youre not on the fly in portal
cuz when i switch to fly in one it says that
@gritty berry clear your history and refresh the portal and then it works
happened to me before
respond in a formal way expressing your gratitude for the opportunity, letting your interviewer know when you are available, and then maybe attaching your resume (you could mention "just to break the ice" or "to refer to if need be")
oh shit i forgot to thank my interviewer
yeah after your interview, say the day after, write a follow-up thanking them once more
my interview is this Wednesday 😎
womp
yeah next week is crazy busy for me :\
got a stats exam and a calc ii exam spread out over 2 days because it is so intensive
how does this sound
Dear Ms. X,
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for this opportunity to share more about myself and get to know COLLEGE deeper through the lens of an alumna.
February 16th, at 9am EST works well for me. Kindly let me know if you need any additional information or material such as a resume or an activity sheet to refer to if needed.
Best regards
ik
just need anouther opinion :)
u are a college counselor?
wow
thought it was just students here
I hope you are doing well.
I would say "I hope this email finds you well." but it really doesn't matter
Kindly let me know...
I would just say "Please let me know" but again it doesn't matter
material
materials; resources
or an activity sheet
or an activity sheet(just scratch that)
Overall yeah that is good, I am just saying what I would write, of course everything is subjective
thank you! i think i'll just edit the 1st point
do you think i should send a thank you letter rn? or not worry about it
how long ago was your interview
day 100 of praying for an interview
where do you live if you don't mind me asking? i would guess the general trend is the more rural an area, the less likely an interview will reach out to you but that is only a guess, i have zero data to back that up
I live in super rural upper peninsula michigan though and i got offered a virtual interview with someone down state in a more urban area
so idk
all good, i live right outside of DC
hmmmmm, then who knows 🤣
i just saw a post on the dartmouth club of DC saying they need more interviewers tho
ohhh yeah
so maybe theyre just not able to keep up w the amnt of applicants rn
cuz they were asking for anyone to pls sign up to interview the hundreds of applicants lol
yeah dont they get like 25-30k or so
idek it said 500? i think? but this is only RD too so who knows
i literally could not care less ab an interview buuut since this one is evaluative (i think?) i feel like i would benefit a lot so i j rlyl want one
plus the ones ive had r fun
yeah they say that it can benefit your application but if you dont get offered one it wont hurt you
yeah this is common in high population areas
same but i got my interview a while ago idk how they match up people
as someone who used to assign interviews, it is based on who has applied and who was available to interview. I tried to keep people from having tod rive too far (I had a large rural area)
yeah my interviewer lives like 10 hours away from me so mine is virtual :)
my friend from my school who got in ED didnt get her interview until like 2-3 weeks before her decision so maybe there is still hope
👍
or it could just be a little more tightly timed in ED, who knows
yeah, this was before COVID and virtual interviews
way more condensed
i just got an email that they are looking for "hero" interviewers
they are trying to get as many out as possible
just wanted to thank you @stark lark for your activity before I forgot, you reply to a lot of people and through reading your replies have been a big help to me in navigating my application process :)
you should offer to interview for dc region haha
I'm not allowedd to interview
gooood luckk
yup! good luck!
Holy moly duke and darty on the same day?
Good luck 🙏
Yup 😭 dart interviewer was busy
Ty ty
Dart interview tmrw mrning
Dart interview was 🔥 loved my interviewer he was so chill and asked about the most random stuff like no other interviewer has asked about
Very different from me but super cool
- he made Dartmouth sound so amazing
aww slay, i hope you get in!!!
glll
Don’t have any hopes lol I’m just glad I got to learn more
gl, mine is wednesday
my guy is a class of 2023 grad so hopefully ill be able to ask some more attendance specific questions rather than the broader ones you may only be able to ask an interviewer who hasnt been on campus in years
mines a senior there rn
like what questions?
well i just mean if someone hasnt attended in 20 years, you cannot ask them as specific a question as someone currently attending, such as in your case
so maybe what their favorite class was that they didn't expect to like or what their favorite club or community on campus is
or perhaps more useful, as an example, "You are from the same area as me, what did you find to be the best and cheapest way to travel from home to campus and back?"
that's also a W
Fs but could also be a disappointment 😭
Genuinely after doing research im not a darty type person
Hope i get in still cuz yk but like
I wouldnt choose it over my current options

But you never know my interviewer could be the goat and make me like them
All that just to be rejected in the end
Why every school gotta have a 4% acceptance rate smh
withdraw 😭😭
Nah but their aid be smackin so
yeah it is cheaper for me to go there than many in state schools

atp it’s either bc they don’t care enough or they’re trying to sabotage my app? that seems dramatic but im so pissed rn
Have u had ur interview yet
yeah
Oh
I had certain circumstances so i emailed them and they said they don’t start evaluating until all required materials are turned in
So i think i have until my interviewer submits report
U applied all 8 ivies right
L friend
i would be furious
yes
bruh she literally gaslighted me into thinking it wasn’t due yet
Twinnem
then i literally looked it up and it was due on 1/12
eeek
idk if i would call them my friend XD
i procrastinate a lot but never to the extent where it damages others, just myself lmao
ill write u a rec rn
ATP U J NEED SOMETHING TURNED IN
u need to make her write it NOW
😭😭😭
taking out the competition
if i push her im scared she’s gonna put something bad in the rec 💀
i sent her an essay on why i need it in tho so 😴
best of luck 😆
ain’t no way 13 years of friendship about to be torn apart just bc of this
wow that is a long friendship
i moved so much my longest friendship is about 8 years
Can you ask another friend?
Or could you write it and have her submit it
that’s my plan if she doesn’t submit it by tomorrow
hm that’s a good option, I’ll prob do that if I need to ask someone else
W
ty all for letting me rant 😭🙏
Ofc your friend is not a real one
fr ^
anyone got a dartmouth general discord server? not necessarily a 28 one but one I can ask current students about their cs program? couldn't find anything from a quick online search but didnt look long
maybe this https://admissions.dartmouth.edu/visit/connect#email can help you?
Dartmouth interview in 1 hour

Most likely going to be my last college interview
Unless duke yale harv or penn clutch up
GOOD LUCKKKKKK
Ty
what do you want ot know
Had a great Dartmouth interview!
W
Tbh im still debating whether Dartmouth is for me or not so ima just drop it tbh until i get my decision back

oh that is an awesome thing, probably better than a discord server! idk how i didnt think they'd have something like that
thanks for sharing!!!
Its a public thread little kid shutcho bitchass up no one cares who asked
i suppose id like to learn more about things not as commonly mentioned on a webpage: what have been your favorite classes? what clubs or opportunities have you been offered or have participated in? what is something you wish you would have known your first semester/quarter? etc...
i suppose i just want to gain a student's perspective of the college
If you don't get a response in 24 hours, find someone else. Not worth it
any QSS majors here?
i applied qss
right, if you don't get in it doesn't matater
as a reminer, you don't apply to a major. You are stating an academic interest
whats your take on the QSS major @stark lark
and look, you don't declare your major until oyur 5th term. So you may start down the QSS road and realize you like the math side more or you like the social science more
yes ofcourse
Exactly
yea
qss looks so interesting
mee
My interviews in 30 mins lol
YAY coolll
didja ask any questions / learning anything new?
nice
ooh yeah
that is one of the big reasons im looking forward to my interview
learn more about the stuff that you can only know by attending
Yea
Like I didn’t write questions down
I only had notes
But I made them up on the spot and think I did fine
that's awesome, knowing myself ill probably make a several page cheat sheet for no reason XD
ive done planty of interviews between jobs and scholarships so ik ill do fine
Yea
oh was yours in person?
No
i forgot they usually are
On zoom
oh yeah same
My iPad died Lol
oof xd
So I has to print my notes
yeah i got a stupid 3 monitor set up with all wide screen 34" monitors for my pc so ill have plenty of space 😆
thanks lol
Still likely rejection but oh well interview was worth it
Good luck with ur interview
thanks! i meant to say good luck to you but when i saw your message that it was in 30m more than 30m had passed
Lol all good
yeah i scored a 1450 on the sat and submitted that but only because my school average is terribly low, pretty sure sub 1000, so in that context i scored amazing
so i hope that helps my app xD
Did you submit it before or after the test required news?
well i submitted it as a part of my rd app so before
still hoping that new policy will help me
I applied without test scores
but considering my context I should have submitted my 1450
I uploaded it to the portal three days ago and emailed my admission officer so yolo
shouldn't be too late! i would think that would help
Yea they haven’t updated my portal yet
Still shows that your sat scores will not be considered
cuz like the study said, some people who didnt submit their test scores got rejected when they otherwise probably would have been accepted (if that had submitted them)
“At your request, Dartmouth will not consider your SAT or ACT test scores as a part of your application.”
Yea
hmmmm
well hopefully that changes, still more than a month till decisions
I sent a 1490 bc my schools average is sub 1100, I remember hearing that it was a good idea from a podcast or reddit post about how dartmouth and yale are preferred in that manner
yep
Wouldn't be suprised if Yale is the next ivy to crumble
1490 is good anyways, above their median im pretty sure
yknow what i mean
Yea
i mostly submitted my 1450 because i thought only submitting if you were above average was stupid (something the a2c subreddit loves to preach)
the average is the average, that means 50% of people are below that lmao
Ive recently grown towards the idea of dartmouth, but have learned to not grow to close to something (except for my safety) to stop any emotional ruin (worked great with my wharton rejectino)
Lol I just went with what my counselor told me
Exactly
yeah im in the same boat
Me with uchicago rn
it is genuinly the best course of action
Plus, missing like half of my heart comes naturally
i really have been digging dartmouth every time i search it and look into it, i just dont want to get attached because i know my chances defintely aren't the greatest
Submitted ED2 test optional to uchicago so I’m not tryna get my hopes up
hence why I wanna go into finance
idk, you think i have an okay chance considering I am from the middle of no where (upper peninsula [UP] of michigan) and i am pretty sure only 1 other person applied to Dartmouth in the whole UP
Yes
ik Yale is really advocating for geographic diversity rn, i hope that rubs off on some of the other ivies
Did you take both of them
well one was AP CSP and the other was AP Calc, i didnt take either and instead am completing an entire associates through DE
Ohh interesting
which I am taking Calc I and II through the community college
which AP calc is only Calc I
Ye
I mostly just did that because I thought it would be better worth my time and i love math
Ur doing more than taking the aps lol
lol thanks
i hope they understand too that the DE program through my school is really just that, you literally just take the college class
ik some CCs have specifc classes for DE students
Mhm
well best of luck to you! ik decisions are a ways away still but whatever
also listed QSS as my top
hello my fellow applicants
At Dartmouth how many classes do u take each quarterly on average ?
Like is it less than a semesters amount bc it’s the d plan
how do i know that darty has my mid year
i thought 4 was normal at most colleges why is it 3 at dartmouth?
i think because you have the quarter system you can take less classes per quarter and still end up taking more per year
ie 4/semester for 2 semesters = 8 classes / year, 3/quarter for 3 quarters = 9 classes / year
Quarters
insightful
Yeah, bugga nailed it
should show up in your "Application Checklist" in your app portal
4 is HARD unless it's all easy classes
that is good to know
iits not there
hmmm, mine is right below "Application" in that list
maybe your counselor hasn't submitted it yet?
or if they have it is still processing
I would ask your counselor if you haven't already, mine shot me an email letting me know when she completed it
would you say classes are more difficult because of the shorter timeline or because they are just harder classes? (I assume the former)
Both
it's not there for me as well
Yo guys
My classmate got an interview request
And i still havent
And this was like
Is it safe to say its over 😭
Cuz if we go to the same school same town why would he get one and i dont
dw about it 😀
remember you can only be judged on the info they have and if you dont get an interview that wont hurt you
still more than a month till admissions decisions, you might still get messaged
they probably just dont want to over-contact and then not be able to interview
is anyone else so bored of the wait
Hopefully!
i wanna just hear all of my decisions
Hope so Cuz im worryin
and still more than a month
my anxiety has been sooo bad but lately ive kinda just been numb with BOREDOM like the wait is just annoying atp
yep
His email said he has to give his word on the interview by “feb 22nd”
So does that mean no interview by then and its over?
possibly idk
maybe thats j the window he wants to interview in
i havent received one either yet so im a lil on edge but viewing it from an outside perspective idt its rlly anything to worry ab
i feel confident that it really is just on availability
yep
my interview in 2 days 😬
nah im not too worried about it, kinda nerveracking tho because i have a shift at my internship, a physics test, a calc 2 exam all in the same day before the interview
i have a physics test soon too im scared
Availability
Okay 🥲
i j withdrew my app
should i email my interviewer to let them know
or like will the admissions office handle it
I assume he committed to Berkeley eecs as his name suggests
Or maybe berkeley is one of his very top and he only leaves hypsm for rd
Thats why im not doing it for some schools (not Dartmouth ofc) but i paid the fee to have my app evaluated so i want a decision lol
Mhm
uh my interviewer emailed me 2 days ago
i never responded and finalized
i wouldnt go to dartmouth over berkeley eecs
but ik ppl at my school who love dartmouth and def would go if they had the opportunity
didnt want to get in the way of anyone getting in
if that's even possible idrk
That isn't how it works, but sure, you do yo
it would be polite to let them know you no longer an interview
i mean historically we only get 0-1 at dartmouth
but idk
it might not make a difference
id just feel bad if i got in and turned them down knowing someone else wouldve gone if they had the chance
someone at my school got an interview but i havent yet 🥺
means nothing
mine lasted an hour, 10 mins
90% of short interviews are bc of the interviewer
Imo 40-60 is the perfect length
Mfs who have 3 hour interviews are getting groomed
💀
yeah some interviewers just ask the questions on their sheet and then don't know what to do
a good interviewer almost helps the person being interviewed merely by being a good listener and asking good questions based on previous responses
no cap ive seen some rlly weird descriptions of these long ass ones ppl r having and im like uhhh
Yea that shits lowk weird
Why u going on a whole ass date with them
An interview is an interview
All of mine have gone exceptionally
Ranging from 20-50 at the high end
yep
mine have gone beyond exceptionally
I got into a school and legit had a 20 min interview where i answered 3 questions
all my job/internship interviews have been only about 30 minutes and my one scholarship interview was about that as well, haven't had any admissions interviews yet though
my Publix interview was 5 minutes
my only admission interview so far was ~45 mins and it went really well
i read ab this 3ish hour one on reddit and it just seemed like the interviewer was glazing the applicant and it was so odd
all those people get so defensive when you call it out too
why did I not ED to Dartmouth
I feel that, the wait is soooo long 😭😭😭🤣
Ong
As much as I have learned and loved more about dartmouth, my ED would still have been wharton (dreams are dreams for a reason). ED2 on the other hand would have been a debate
My interviewer runs a college consulting/admissions company
Conflict of interest, nah?
yikes
lol is your interviewer biggreen
Idk who that is lol
but he runs a company called InGenius Prep
Weird to pick an interviewer whose career is in college admissions tho lol
bruh but there's a clear conflict of interest
yeah I agree

they’re a hugeee firm too, not just a local one
Yeah I looked into it lol
The co founder is the interviewer
damn i have seen that somewhere on the web
yeah they can't interview....
Your interviewer was Joel?
@hexed canopy
no, I think @tranquil parrot has them tho
that's the only founder I saw that went to Dartmouth
I only ask because I'm close with teh woman who runs the Alumni Ambassador Program and can bring it up with her
email the school
is it Dartmouth you got your interview from?
Yeah, you can report it too, just wasn't sure if you felt comfortable
must be
damn dartmouth --> yale law school --> college counseling firm
I mean, hthey sasid it wasn't him
If your interviewer does college counseling, it isn't from true third-party's eyes
report and get another interviewer
You likely won't get another interview, but they should not be interviewing
i don't understand why Dartmouth didn't filter him in the first place
they may not know? I mean he would have had to lie to sign up
don't they track their alumni?
across a ton of different systems
the alumni directory doesn't have his job
I don't know that he does interviews
i was deferred
and submitted my midyear report in decemebr
and it hasnt been down loaded yet n

biggreen10 federal moment
joking
His name was David Mainiero
went to dartmouth then harvard law
Nah I'm not gonna bother reporting ngl
Not worth the trouble probably
kinda confused
if dartmouth is test optional for the 2023-2024 cycle then why is it very important on the CDS
does that imply a heavy disadvantage
uhhh maybe it's like, very important if you submit it
idk
if you submit an SAT it will be a major factor in your app, by extension, not submitting one can actually negatively effect you; look at Dartmouths recent study which prompted them to reinstate the SAT requirement
they found some who did not submit their SAT got denied when if they would have submitted their SAT they likely would have been accepted
it was made optional because of COVID, never made it less important
bingo
i had a dream i got in
bro they havent downloaded my midyear report and i was deferred ed is it Joeover
Is it over if I still haven’t got a interview
Do you not pay any attention?
this discord is just biggreen saying the things he wishes he could say to his actual students
i mean, i have good relationships with them, i'm not a sugar coater, but i do tend to be more blunt here
they are also much better advised than most people here 😉
No shit if they’re paying you they should be
I do pay attention
I have another week or so yeah?
getting an interview or not has nothing to do with your application
I know but I’d like to have one
i totally get that
My interviewer straightup scheduled a month in advance with me
so now im waiting another 2 weeks
I responded within 30 min lmao
Does it just pop up as officially from Dartmouth?
i didn’t get my interview does this mean i’m gonna be homeless 🥺🥺🥺
i’m o-block bound!!!
Would it be weird to ask my interviewer about things he's done that are listed on his linkedin? I'm genuinely interested, but I don't want to seem creepy
ask about it first like you never knew about it
and then follow up with whatever questions u have
what are the interviews like for dartmouth?
Do they have a list of questions to ask or is it more chatting one on one and i ask her a bunchh of questions
well there are hundreds of different interviewers and they will all be different
my interview was very relaxed and more like a chat but he had his own general questions list
but I think he made it himself because there were several non traditional questions
there is a general list of questions supplied to interviewers but they don't need to follow it
ask open ended and let him tell you, don't stalk them
remembe,r they know nothing about you coming in
mine was so chill it was on zoom and she wore a hoodie. just like the usual very general questions and then she asked follow ups based on my answers
same here, my interviewer was awesome
tbh my dartmouth interview was one of my favorites
i wore a whole sweater, dress shirt, and tie and he was just wearing a t shirt XD
lmaooo
but it was very enjoyable yeah
is there a key word i could search in my gmail
i've been searching generally "dartmouth"
it should be in your primary inbox
as it shouldn't be an automated message but actually sent by someone
hm gotcha
ive looked dartmouth interview
and nothing pops up
so i suppose nothing yet
the title of the email to me was "Dartmouth Alumni Interview Request" if that helps, but any interviewer could name that differently
umm
nothing pops up on my end
still have a bit for someone to reach out to you
it would be bad to call the admissions office about generally that process?
yeah of course
yes
the admissions office doesn't run the program, they can probably look
so wait, did you get an email and accidentally deleted it?
I understand how nervous you may be, I am always super anxious and researching everything but I would just wait and see if you get reached out to, if you don't - no biggie
I am assuming you just haven't been emailed
so you may not have gotten one?
probably not then
ill keep my head up and pray they do
🙏
end of the month is when i'll know if i dont get to have one yeah?
yeah probably
when is Dartmouth admissions decisions, April 1? in that range ik

Oh
just had my interview, went well, 2 hrs, dude was super chill!
he was so casual too, like even swearing sometimes lol
which was doubly interesting cuz he's old like went there in the 80s
wow that is pretty long, glad it went well :)
mine was only about 35m, guy was also really chill, graduated last year
he was kind of a d1 yapper so the time passed easily
W
.
dartmouth please accept me
@stark lark my interviewer mentioned that you could "combine" majors depending on each department (she was a gov major and combined it with econ) could you expand on how that works at dartmouth if you have knowledge on it
Sure! It is called a modified major
you can combine most things (some limit it) if you can put forward a compelling rationale as to how the combo works
Most majors are 1-3 pre-reqs plus 10ish courses
modified majors are generally 7 classes from the main dept, and 4ish from the secondary
okay thats really cool and yeah i heard about the limits
she was gov and she told me she could only do econ and psych (?)
Like for the longest time you couldn't modify GOVT
I helped make their first modified majors
oh thats sick
both qss and econ interest me alot and i honestly could never pick
does qss even have mod since it is already interdisciplinary
i'm not sure if it is officially off-limits, but yeah, it doesn't really make sense
okay anyway thank you for the information
ur responses have helped alot going thru this forum
you bet
always happy to help
I can't think of one I approved, but I can see it
though ECON is somewhat limiting I think
lemme llook
Wow that sounds fantastic
If I could combine philosophy and CS. I would do it to escape the math portion lmao
again, you don't declare until your 5th term, so you'll have lots of time to narrow your interest and discuss with a faculty advisor on how to make it work
PHIL-CS probs gets you out of a bunch of the math
CS-PHIL less so i bet
Yep that makes sense
big green if I didn’t get an interview but ppl from my school did am I dead
No
biggreen were u involved in greek life
and if so how was it for you
(i'm very interested in it and dartmouth is obviously well known for it)
shit now i wish i applied to dart
on my portal, can I add my national examinations that I’ve recently done to upload materials for “New Testing” ?
I suppose so, I always assumed that was for SAT or ACT scores or other AP style scores; I would wait till biggreen can respond ;)
He would give you better insight 😂
if you did really well on them, I don't see why it would hurt to update
thank you!
thank you big green! what about additional admissions material; what can we use it for when uploading?
biggreen should i followup with an email if my interviewer hasnt replied to my email confirming our meeting date for two days
Sure
how should i phrase it
should i just go "Hello, could you confirm our meeting date?" or is that rude
(i think thats rude that why im asking)
my dartmouth interviewer hasn't responded to me in 2 days as well
omg
do we have the same interviewer
my guy is from CO '99
don't tell me he did columbia MBA
i dont stalk linkedins but he is from indonesia judging from his phone number

I don't think my interview went well. I was really nervous and had a hard time expressing what I wanted to say and I didn't feel like I answered the questions well. My interviewer and I didn't really talk about much other than the specific questions he asked me and what I asked him, and it didn't really feel like a conversation. I just feel bad
I've heard of some people having sort of tangent discussions based on some of their specific interests and we didn't do that at all
He also told me that everyone at Dartmouth is really social, which is why he wanted to go, and now I'm rethinking whether or not I even should have applied because I'm very introverted
there are lots of social people, but there are introverted people too
jut think about his perspective. As a social, extroverted person, he is more likely to know people like him
I just felt like we didn't really click and I didn't do well in the interview
dw bout it, i dont think interviews really have that large of an affect, and if they do, it would only really be a minor positive effect, I don't think your interview could hurt you
unless you were like a crazy person XD but that is not the case :)
Thank you
it hpapens
same its ok maybe we will soon
me neither gang its ok
ayyy deferall diva
i didnt get one still either
it only means sumn if u get one
as in if u dont get one it doesnt mean anything
what does it mean when u get one?
it means if you do good itll help and if u dont itll hurt
Oh okay
its availibility, u arent special if u get one
Tyty
No. I say this as someone who has assigned them in the past
The office that runs the alumni ambassador program isn't even part of admissions
My interviewer told me that she thinks they changed how they assign interviews to people they want more info about
No idea how true that is though
so is it evaluative now?
evaluative fyi can also just mean "they use the interview notes to evaluate candidates"
so it might have always been evaluative, but maybe they changed it to be more selective?
Any intls in MENA got an interview?
I don't think it is that deep, like biggreen said; it is literally availability based; pretty sure that is just saying the interview will be used on your case, not that you are evaluated before receiving one
evaluative is diff than selective
tbh i wasnt following the conver i only saw the one question
you're good
it's just soooo many people worry about not receiving an interview and I get it, it is nerve-wracking, but it isn't that big of a deal
it won't hurt you, they can only help you if you get one
false
i get the whole availability thing but i am a lil suspicious of how other ppl at my school have gotten one but i havent
chillax i got mine 3 weeks later than everyone
from the same school
i'm hungry
i am chillan
Interesting
?? 😭
im the only applicant from my school but all my friends who got better stats from a higher ranked school got their interview, i can feel my rejection coming tbh
Interview has nothing to do with it
damn my friend said its a "good sign" for intls
i barely have any hopes of getting into dartmouth tho so i can suck it up
hello biggreen how should i followup my email confirming our meeting date as my interviewer isnt replying
he is hella busy from what ive seen
would "hello interviewername, can you confirm our meeting date? best regards - bachruoi" suffice
i rly dont wanna come off as unprofessional
I’ve not gotten a response too
ik my man busy butttt im anxious af too
