and i think cs15 is against my beliefs, and ive chatted with other profs and students about it and they agree

they basically brand themselves as "cs with magic" in the sense that you write a few functions and you end up with a "game" except all the parts that really make the game are pre-written for you

whereas cs17 in fact brands itself as "no magic" meaning you get to really understand everything (or at least, everything in an intro level course) from scratch, but the projects r a lot less "sexy" and the homeworks are basically writing functions to solve like math problems

cs17 is the one i took

i think cs111 is great if you want to take an easier intro class, like if you're new to cs or if you're not a cs major

cs19 is good if you want to take a hard cs class for your intro

cs15 is vastly more popular tho, fyi

and shes come to the conclusion (rigorously) that cs17 prepares students the best and in fact, cs111 (which is meant to be the easy introduction for like new/noncs ppl) prepares students a bit better than cs15
