yeah but he wont be happier there
true
ucla cs is not much behind
i mean it's not like I won't be, im sure ill be OK mentally but im just weighing my options ig
fair
both are close enough so it honestly comes down to your personal preferences, maybe visit each campus
u cant go wrong either way take some time
I hear machine learning at UCLA is pretty strong, so I have to see the specific offerings they got
since CS is such a broad topic, i do want a focus
undergrad research oppurtunities is also important to me
Has anyone been able to add schools to their fafsa?
I accidentally only sent it to usc when I submitted
eh i mean both are going to be pretty difficult eecs is gonna be a crazy amnt of workload
visit both but i'd pick ucla
i mean
happiness is ur own defintion and its not like uc berkeley doesnt have 32000 undergrads so u are likely to find ur type of people anyways'
Can you give me insight on your experience as a CS student @ UCLA?
have you had carey nachenberg yet? I heard he's amazing
How accessible is undergrad research? Maybe you might know upperclassmen that are doing some right now?
I'm already familiar with the campus feel since I've been there a couple times for math competitions
ngl i haven't looked into it cuz i'm more interested in swe internships compared to research
fair enough but i mean ive heard horror stories at berkeley its just an unhappy/unsafe/toxic environment in general
have friends there, it depends on how good you are
i know freshman who were cracked and started doing research in their first quarter
also a side note getting involved in research at berkeley is extremely hard
i know juniors who haven't touched it
again, depends
arguably just more competitive at cal
i was able to get a spot in a research lab as a first quarter freshman but i alr had research experience going into college
but i do know kids without prior experience who did get research just by cold emailing like crazy so anything's possible if you try hard enough, you don't need to be "cracked"
(i ended up turning down that lab position bc of personal health reasons tho, im starting to email again for the upcoming quarter lol)
How much experience did you have?
its not
lmao
rumors remain rumors
like its not toxic its just that everyone is hella ambiiotus
and unsafe as in like literally every other large city in the us
its toxic like bayrea high schools are toxic
so not exactly toxic
but an absurd and unhealthy amount of competition/rivalry
surprisingly it's been completely fine fooor me
no issue at all
that's probably why ucla still allows ppl to switch to cs
ok that makes sense, thanks a lot
now i gotta talk to someone in eecs lol so i balance out what's up
but yeah i heard berkeley is doing direct admit only now
yea enrollment got too hectic for them lol
imo it just depends on how much you can handle
the truth is, some people will crack under pressure
that environment is certainly not for everyone
eh that or lucky
most ppl i know getting involved in research here are either cracked or super motivated (desperate)
sending dozens of emails will do the trick
~200 hours in a lab + pending publication
wow nice
Dang
is that the cs + ms program?
ya just found out about it recently
would be pretty awesome if they approve that lol
hard to get ?
well i never hear of anybody getting that so i assume so yeah
couple people from my school got in for it , thats how i found out about it
oh damn really nice
they not even going to ucr though so gonna ask them to withdrawl LOL
gl
should I email someone
this better cook
are u asking for the percentage of students who get into both? or are u asking who typically attends which when admitted to both
bruh if i knew getting in for cs at the ucs was that hard
i would have celebrated so much more getting into ucsb and ucd
๐ ๐ญ
CS everywhere is pretty insanely competitive
I know UCI's I think was 5%?
can't imagine what it is at other places
and frankly I don't want to
Ya I got in as my alternative despite getting regents ๐
Cs is super competitive lawl
Thatโs crazy Iโm ngl
Glad I switched to data science ๐๐พ
Anyone got a regents invite for UCLA?
that's honestly kind of surprising
i thought it would be around double digits
@outer gyro are you gonna do the bs ms program
i definitely plan to apply for it
It ebbs and flows depending on whether the school over or under admit previous years
generally easy
things don't get tough until the end of your first year with cs
I double checked my statement--it was 7.1% in 2021, 5.8% in 2022, and a rise to 16.8% in 2023
here at ucsd we don't have access to any kinds of numbers like that
it's all up in the air
word on the street is ~10%
UCSD seems cool but I got in as undeclared lawl
i got into UCSD for the math-cs major
No I love math
I would've done pure math but my parents want cs so I compromised
I think you do, last time I checked this is pulled from the UC admissions data. I can't find the website for the life of me right now though
^
Another fun fact is that you can pull up all the salaries of anyone in the UC system
Opposite here, my parents wanted math but I wanted CS lawl
It's public data
if we do have it it's probably transfer students only
btw how's the uci cs curriculum like
my friends were dissing y'all
he said uci does python programming for like the whole first year
It's true that UCI does python for a year. I'm not really sure how I feel about it because it's meant to ease people who've never programmed, but it's also true that the first two intro to programming classes could be compressed into one at a minimum
If you pick the right teachers, it's a good program, but otherwise, the quality isn't that high
it kind of makes sense that programming might take more than 10 weeks to get really comfortable with
Mmhmm
If that's the reason your friend was dissing the program, I don't think it's well founded
My issues are that the quality of some of the upper division courses are particularly lacking
python for a year is crazy
@maiden canopy
This one too
thank u thank u
single digits at ucsb as well i believe
be proud of that accomplishment!
atp how is it possible to get itno berkeley
rnjesus
100%!
Promise your balls to Berkeley like I have
If I get in I said Iโd give em over
u got into cal poly?
Yeah
yoo did u get the stickers in the mail lawl
no๐ญ
bro they donโt send me anything in the mail or email
damnn
Nah nothing
Anyone here going to Berkeley / UCLA? Would like to know your experiences
hi
for us i feel like itโs kinda the same way in that things start to get flaky
most of our lower divs are taught by teaching professors whose job it is to teach
when you hit upper level you start to realize that we are a research university
Yeah, if you don' pick your teachers carefully, the class quality drops significantly
honestly i think community college classes are probably better
sadly community colleges don't offer upper division coursework
@humble mauve Howโs the food at UCI
good luck to everyone today, sending love โค๏ธ
When do ucsd scholarships come out?
3:30 pst?
yes
im getting rejected
easy
nooo, be positive!!
LA or Berkeley
You messed up a couple letters there
like, late april lol
im tryna decide on that toooo lol
i like UCLA more for every other facet except for the engineering dept. since i got in for eecs for berkeley
330 rumored
3:30 PDT !!
ready to see rejection
Iโm holding out hope but I donโt like these odds
I thiught last year it came at like 6:30
i literally got rejected from every uc so far
its basically done
Food is alright--its gotten better since my freshman year, but they're not really good at creating non-american/non-european food. Quality seems fine for the most part and the dining halls are convenient, but after a year of meal plans, if you're someone who really values having tasty food in your life, it'll drive you a little insane
On campus there's a few fast food places but the selection is honestly really small. What does exist is a little over priced too but that's coming from someone who doesn't like eating fast food in the first place
In the local vacinity around campus, there's two "campus malls" which is primarily food that's okay but also unfortunately overpriced and low quality. The other one is decent and also has a paris baggute opening soon
berkeley came out at 3 last year
either 3 or 3:30 i forgot
Oh goodness Iโm scared
but it was while i was in school so i know it was fs before 4
oh my bad
i thought u meant pdt
No yeah Iโm on the east coast ๐ข
good luck ๐
Thank you man
3:30
no it's objectively UCB ๐
Fax
Aaa why Berkeley didnt give me decision
scroll all the way down
got berkeley nice
Itโs out or what
if i appeal to my rejected ucs is it just cope atp
does ur js have an faq abt being rejected like i dont have a letter or any type of page saying "we're sorry youve been rejected"
go to the bottom of the ucb to page
it has two pdfs
i think berkeley fucked up and linked to the faq instead of the letter
is there anyone that goes to riverside/went to riverside here
have many questions cause now im like stuck on where i wanna go
nooo do sjsu ๐
its aeroE vs EE
@honest vine im really curious to see though
will i get beaten today
my
or not today
soon
yea
a lotta ppl got a lotta rejs
or 4th
i shouldve aplpied all ivies
waitlisted UCSD UCB, rejected UCI UCLA
rejected berkeley
Same
bro
i got rejected all UCs except for berkeley
i did not expect berkeley to be my savior
and for EECS too
unless i got accepted to stanford i only got into 1/13 of my colleges
this is wild bro ๐ญ
berkeley is my only W
so if i didnโt get berkeley i woulda have to go down the CC and transfer pathway
all it takes is one guys
yea
:D
wait but what if i dont get the 1 (im currently number 1 on the a2c rejection leaderboard)
lmao it looks like i gotta go to CC
nooo
r u in cali?
mhm
depends on school
cs-ish?
thats how it goes for berk
ooooh uc irvine has guaranteed trasnfer from cc into comp eng
if u wanna look into that
guaranteed?
yeah UC TAG is really nice i was gonna do that
as long as u maintin some gpa in cc
ah
W
looks like i donโt need to no more
i was aboutta say what i wanna try
until i remembered my parents wont let me go cc
#1223058033354084515 can someone give some input on my decision?
this admission cycle is absolutely insane
colleges i thought were targets or safeties
be thinking they are Ivys
dude it was
like how did i get rejected from the school i did their 7% acceptance rate program at
CONGRATS OMG
how did i get in bro my stats were not that good compared to other ppl competing for my major
u can tag to that?
yea
what abt comp sci and eng
no
waitlisted ucb, Iโm so happy :))
EECS
thanks wbu?!
ds :D
congrats!!
yield protection prolly
i mean i got rejected from sd, irvine and la
im number 1 on the a2c rejection leaderboard
27 rejecttions
prolly not yield protection
oh.. im sorry
theres a rejection leaderboard?
exactly!! and im sure both of us will get off, praying for us ๐
how many schools did u apply to??
32?
yeah my calc teacher was like berkeley is usually good with waitlists
or smth
yessssss
:D
whoaaaaa thats alot
if i have to write another college essay, its joever for me
cornelll wl is w
yeah but he got into berkeley eecs so im pretty sure hes gonna go there
i got rejected cornell
exactly!!
ull go there with ur twin dw
i hope soo!!
i like submitted the form at like 3:37 lol
wow lol!!
sadly they dont track demonstrated interest :(
wdym?
if cmu tracked it id prolly be number 1
how intersted u are in their school. some schools like purdue check how often u visit site, check their emails, visit campus, attend webinars etc
ohh
do they like look at the list by like who filled out the form first because theres no like supplement that we write yk
like i just wrote confirm
yea ig its school dependent
like eecs didnt needa do antyhing but "CONFIRM"
ohh like other schools like l&s had to write stuff?
oh wow lol me and my twin got wl from there
im still writing the additonal information for it
yea everynoe got wled for some reason
did u too?
yea
wait what rejected from pomona?
A FRIENDLY REMINDER FOR YALL TO WITHDRAW IF ACCEPTED TO IVY TODAY
anyone else get into EECS for berkeley?
there's a Berk thread btw #1135713116425035837
wait what u got waitlisted?
thank you
YES IDK HOW
damn which one
ikr
so weird
like the only other school to wl me was ucsc
so im not even good enough for ucsc
Berkeley most holistic
yeah apparently for holistic they still thought im trash
I have a 5 steak rn will be 6 tmrw after stanford
UC Stats:
Accepted: UCSC, UCD, and UCSD
Waitlisted: UCLA and UCSB
Rejected: UCI (??) and UCB
Committing to UCSD for college
We'll see what happens with UCLA waitlist but i'm gonna try and forget abt it
i got rejected from all ucs
Are you in state
they must have found out about my fresno state fetish
ye
?
penn state, purdue, texas a&m
how is tuition tho
purdue is 29k a year for tuitio
omg ucsd is so good
hope u get off the wl for ucb and UCLA
i did not get waitlisted berkeley
But i did UCLA and that i care abt so much more and am so grateful
I'd pick UCLA over UCB in a heartbeat
yeah UCLA would be a dream come true but i'm trying to just finish my waitlist statement and submit that and just forget abt it
mb I canโt read
What happens happens
hope u get in !!!
ofcc im also wl ๐ญ
aww same itโs ok dww!!
pretty humbling but i'm reminding myself i got into UCSD which is insanely good
wl for cs is crazy so nice
sd is insane man
It's just hard to remember that when your dream school says maybe / no
so true
cmu was mine ๐ญ
but i would hav ebeen so happy with a waitlist i'm so fr
ikr
i know i'd never get off but genuinely i'd love a waitlist
itโs alr we got in some pretty good schools
letโs hope for the best
wait ur cs too?
I'm very grateful for the UCLA waitlist tho especially since my GPA is a lot lower than average admit
No i'm bio
I almost got all Bs sophomore year
premed?
damn
I like to tell my story telling people that are applying
ur essays and ecs pulled thru
That Bs do not mean you're getting rejectedf rom a T30
this is so real
Bs are literally good people don't understand that
wish i can say that
like a b wonโt stop u from getting into a good school
๐ญ
I don't think it was your grades man, it's just such a gamble. I got waitlisted from UCLA with a 3.7 UW and 4.0 W (UC GPA) and my friends with a 4.0 UW got rejected
It's such luck man
i know so many people who were so unlucky
12 APs, Varsity sports, etc. not a single UC
last year 1192/4821 ppl got off the berkeley waitlist
hopefully its same % this year ๐
UCLA waitlist is absolutely terrifying
Last year it was actually not bad
Year prior....... yeah no
bro what
LMFAO HELP WHAT
my friend has the same stats as you and he got rejected from all but ucsc (waitlisted)
i was gonna leave california after uni anyways but they want me gone now ig
for me itโs a soft rejection
๐ญ
basically yeah
Someone has to be accepted off the waitlist ๐ค
I just hate not knowing until possibly the summer
uci ruined my uc sweep
youโre cracked wtf
naw rejected from all my (2) oos apps
so you got into every uc except Irvine??
only applied to 6 ucs, but yeah
i hope i get off just one waitlist
uc sweep would've been crazy
out of curiosity can I ask why
cause its la
same bruh same
I live 20 mins from UCI
UCLA is very convenient. It's an hour away so I will live on campus, but I can come home on the weekends
I fucking love LA I've been a few times and I've loved every minute of it
ucla is pretty close to metro system
I've gone rooftopping in LA and I've visited UCLA and it was beautiful
UCLA has insane academics and a social life/party scene
UCLA is also in Beverely Hills bruh
What else is there to want
i rly want to go but i think i canโt afford
Berkeley has sweaty nerds, a shit ton of crime, and is a lot mroe competitive
(i'm coping cuz i got rejected)
berkeley sucks (i was rejected)
real
:/
ah i see
hope you get off the wl there
i got waitlisted too so im hoping for the best
uc hicago
ill swipe
still deciding though, mind giving me your input?
#1223058033354084515
hey does anyone know how hard it is to transfer from UC Davis to UC Berkeley?
well they said i can pick any non engineering or cs major and do that but likeโฆ. im not doing that
yeah but i thought pomona was still fine for engineering or cs
i thought they are more competitive for medicine
honestly its better to stay at uc davis anyways
Do UCโs give aid to internationals?
ik UC doesnt give OOS aid
they do
with that in mind i would doubt it gives international
or at least like academic scholarships
oh i thought tehy were talking about need based aid
the ucs will usually release some waitlists before may 15, right?
Im not too sure about that
which UCs u waitlisted
hard
thereโs no UC to UC benefit
youโll just be treated like an in state applicant
if you want to transfer to cal, going to CC is your best bet
wb transferring csu to uc?
my parents said i should go sjsu
and then transfer to maybe irvine cause that was my dream school
still is
ik someone w transferred from sjsu to berk
yea im asking like
how hard is it
im gonna do my research fs
apparently thereโs like a difference in how courses are weighted and the requirements for certain majors so there will be difficulty there
but im guessing a lot of people transfer from sjsu to UCs so
counselors should help you a lot
yea im planning on reaching out to transfer counselors
Sb la uci, ucsd
On college confidential it said ucla and uci did release some waitlists last year before may 1
was looking at the stats yesterday, it seems to be incredibly difficult to get off the waitlist for UCLA. I did only look at the most recent year though
I'm not sure about the others though
Yeah Iโm not holding out hope for ucla, but theyโve got to take some people off
It seems like the waitlist acceptance rates are pretty similar to the schools original admit rates
sorry i didn't mean it to be a discouraging comment, you definitely should be on it. I was personally surprised with how low it was for the most recent year but there could be explanations for it
yea true, sometimes they can be a lot lower but they also can be more generous
for me UCB UCSD
Nah your good Iโve already checked the percentages
UCSB actually was really high last year
Berkeley was the only one that flat out rejected me
Did you get into any?
Itโs ok I got rejected from all ucs
only ucsc
socal > norcal
ucsc is actually a really nice area its underrated in my opinion
Hm idk
ong
i dont feel excited about it cuz its one of the middle road UCs
and i feel like everyone in my school got it
yeah its not as impressive looking as some of the others, but its still a UC and ranked pretty decently
looking at your name i assume you have some other options though
the 13A is mostly safeties and targets
Right now im considering an OOS school (with all fhe merit scholarships its gonna be 20k including room and board), UCSC, SJSU, SCU
Ye
sjsu and santa clara are good too, good area for opportunities
Mid luck
Yea but also the thing is
OOS offer is cheapest rn
OOS offer is 20k, SJSU 30k, SCU 50k with aid, UCSC 40k
all of these include r&b
Yea
im just conflicted if i wanna go OOS
cuz maybe ill miss cali
yeah i like california too i only applied in state
depends on where you go i suppose, some places arent too different
cali hates me
OOS school is in nevada
Relatively close at least
Has regents/honors come out for UCLA or UCSD? Anyone know? (I got this on mute pls ping if u have info)
Thatโs what Iโm wondering too.
I havenโt seen anyone get invited for ucla regents
That would probably sway me to ucla cuz I also got cal eecs
:( berk did not clutch up
again, no magic benefit
you can obv still accomplish a transfer
Stoner school
Somehow worse than us
Actually might not be worse than us in that regard
who is us?
berkeley
O
i think theyre saying that sc has a serious stoner problem
or ive completely misunderstood em
yea they said that
my cousin goes to sc and he can attest to it
ok thatโs what I figured
wild
UCSC and SDSU are my top choices rn but each of them have so many problems
hm how so
are u talking about the party culture of sdsu
What major
aerospace SDSU applied physics UCSC
yeah
how is uci math major?
@hidden cedar I had safeties
I canโt type in the rejection thing
I got Csulb, csuf, and cal poly Pomona
I donโt really like them
oh bruh rip
we are getting off the waitlist trust
Whatโs the cat emoji on the thread? What school does it represent?
Merced?
Whoโs the dog and horse then?
i know someone that got purdue cs and is going to santa cruz instead
tbh id do the same
bayrea opportunities, close-ish to home, way cheaper, etc etc
like im considering sjsu over purdue for the same reasons
Which major do you want more
Maybe you may fit in better there but how psyched are you about physics instead of aerospace
i like physics a lot too
and im gonna try to get a masters in aerospace
but idk how much harder it is to get into an aerospace grad program with a physics bachelors instead of an aerospace one
on the applied physics curriculum page at UCSC tho they name the best electives to take to get into an aerospace grad program
good idea
party culture aint bad
i prob would choose riverside over neu if it had a good eng program
Same lol
My friend is planning to turn down UCLA undergrad business to go to community college and hopefully transfer into USC business
Does this sound like a particularly good idea?
(Cost isnโt the issue here)
ngl USC business is fucking cracked and UCLA isn't that well known for business
Do you guys know when ELC comes out for UC? my friend asked me and im not too sure
Like the guranteed admission to merced thing
Ah I see
Most of the friend group had been advising him to take UCLAโs offer then try USC for grad school
vs CC attempt
Because the UCLA offer is there and tangible but the CC attempt may not come to fruition
yeah im not someone to advise
I agree.
The thing is
Heโs nearly dead set on it because USC is his dream school
Which we understand but weโre just worried what happens if heโs unable to successfully transfer there
Although I would defo reccomend to stay, ucla doesnโt even have undergrad business it has business econ which is a combination of both so i kinda get his pov. But yeah as you said cc and transfer is harder and ucla opens many doors guaranteed
Business Econ would still open similar doors?
iirc he got in for business Econ
According to him tho itโs more his craving for USC than the actual undergrad business quality
If he were to get into Berkeley heโd probably be saying the same thing rn
Business econ is a really solid program as you get both economics knowledge from the economics department and business knowledge from anderson. It definitely opens many doors, probably similar to a usc marshall degree but he might not have the freedom to actually emphasize on what he wants to do in business during undergrad whereas usc marshall offers emphases and room for minor/double major
Sorry for yap
Nah im actually curious lol. Thanks for the response!
All good I feel like the yap is warranted and insightful
Yeah i get that, perhaps he could visit ucla to see if he likes it too, great campus with great student life
Yeah Iโd probably suggest it
Good idea
Iโm currently on the fence between ucla and Berkeley
also ik all this stuff cause my brother does business econ at ucla so i could also maybe get them in touch but idk
What major?
Thatโs actually pretty funny because your sibling is your rival haha
Yeah lolโ ๏ธ
And Berkeley EECS vs UCLA CSE. I know Berkeley is a superior program but Iโm thinking ucla is more of my fit as a whole. + I want to do machine learning research and both schools are solid for that
But maybe a bit biased since ucla is pretty much local to me, so I definitely wonโt be committing til I visit cal + see my aid package
I have a friend in ucla cs, there seems to be many opportunities/internships especially in the machine learning/ai department, but I have no doubt there are similar opportunities in Berkeley so i canโt rlly give good advice
Do you know if location matters for internships? Canโt I just relocate during the summers?
Iirc an swe in general the other day said that it plays little role, but yeah i donโt know much about cs/cse interships
The thing is with location some schools just have good connections with nearby firms
so maybe a cal student could get a position in the bay by help from the cs department
Yeah np, touch choice to make but iโm sure youโll excel wherever you go
Fight on!
๐ญlol I did ucla colors
I thought u were tryna make it wholesome by merging them lmao
Oh ya thatโs what in meant
I just thought some people would take it as mocking lawl
In that case go bruins๐โค๏ธ
Go bears ๐ฒโค๏ธ๐ค

yes
Can I contact him?
any decent firm would provide corporate housing or a stipend
this is such an inane concept
Yes to the second question right?
yes
location of your school is mostly irrelevant for cs
i mean, you school itself is also irrelevant too lol
imagine completely changing your life trajectory just to get into a college for undergrad
Grad school is an option
Sure iโll shoot him a message and ill tell you if hes down
Do you think that itโs reasonable that I just choose based on fit since they both seem good?
I do think its reasonable for sure especially since you say their both good programs
Not terrible i think it was like 15% i saw on an image
People have called me nuts for considering turning down Berkeley EECS lol
But lemme search
Thatโs what the entire friend group has been telling him
Like USC is cool but go for your MBA bro
You have UCLA tabled and ready
Yeah i agree with that^^
I think when youโre in HS itโs good to have a โdream school,โ but it also takes a lot of maturity to realize that no matter whatโฆ success can still be found no matter the school, really
The thing is that he maintained from the beginning that he was gonna do anything for USC
So idk what heโs gonna do now
Hopefully he does take the LA offer instead of community college
is he fine with ending up not being accepted in the transfer though?
Cause its a serious serious risk
I donโt think itโs even occurred to him that he may not be accepted
Cause like heโs our valedictorian and basically expected to get into USC
not official valedictorian but like rank #1-3
Something round there
Damn. Personally i would appeal usc and go ucla, perfect 4 year undergrad experience and really solid major
Yeah Iโll suggest this for certain
Cause like what if he gets there and heโs like โman maybe I donโt like businessโ
Then UCLA got everything but CC is another story and a half
My friend at UCLA told me his TA lineup was nuts
They all graduated from really cracked schools lol
He said his lineup was northwestern, Harvard, and Stanford
Also @upper mango congratulations on USC
Didnโt get the chance to properly congratulate you
Yuh
Looks like the UCSD dream has ended for us both
Thanks ๐ Im still shocked
Me and you both bro
I kinda fell in love with ucsd those few days researching it
We up tho fr
Yeah lmao
Lowkey yeah but then I fell in love with Berkeley as well
Spoke with some alums and discussed the schools
omg I js got my usc acceptance package
Yeah usc was probably my #1 of #2 from the get-go but i was discouraged from ea defferal
wow they r very convincing
Yo congrats!!!
Me in 2 months as intl
But you made it anyway fr

tyyy!! omgg congrats on uc Berkeley!!!!!
I think in the end we are gonna fall in love with the schools we commit to anyway lol
ahh itโs really cute
Yeah huge dubs by both of us
Yo thank you lol
does anyone know?
aaaa what does it have
lol! If I commit Berkeley we should meet up with the other bears from a2c
me with usc acceptance
Still undecided
sounds cool
Lol where im comitted probably not meeting any of yall
Unkess i get off berk waitlist
Where are you going?
berk waitlist aint that bad
ywww!! did u watch the england vs Belgium
And yeah berk waitlist is doable
Other schools have sub 5% ar from waitlist
Thereโs a chance I turn down Berk for ucla but Iโll see
I was sleeping unfortunately but Mainoo my goat fr
stopp u need to see it
Bellingham saves England
They fr sweating in these friendlies
SJSU or UNR
Really? ik its probably more likely than mu chances on UCSD waitlist
Gotta load up the highlights
Or find a recording probably
Uni of Nevada, Reno?
apparently it was ~20% last yr
Yes cuz they gace me a good scholarship offer
20k including r&b
Damnn
Ah I see
Yea still deciding school
all of my tas so far have been from the ivy league and ivy adjacent schools
i'd assume most top school's tas come from backgrounds like that tho
do you know about the machine learning / ai side of the school?
i wanna do undergrad research in that lol
tbh i have no idea but i'd assume ucla is pretty good for it
our programs have been getting more ml/ai oriented
for example
recently our stats major became a joint major
its not just stats now its stats & data sci
and we have a decent amount of ai courses so i assume there's a decent amount of profs doing ai/ml research
our math department is involved with ai as well and is also pretty good in terms of reputation
they deflate the shit out of ur grades tho
if you're naturally good at math i wouldn't worry abt that tho
most of my TAs are intls
i mean itโs just by graduate program
all of my stem tas are international
and most ppl here are either coterminal ir intls
bro i left for spring break half a week early and it still went by so fast
we already back soon

blink of an eye
does anyone know how competitive uciโs informatics is to get into (in state)? compared to something like cs or software engineering
yea i'm balling
couldn't have asked for anything better
no complaints
How hard is it to get of the waitlist at UC schools. I got waitlisted at Davis for Aerospace Engineering
You can search up the Common Data Set and see how many students were taken off the waitlist each year
I'll tell u Davis has a good waitlist rate a lot of students get off because Davis' yield rate isn't as high
Davis is a great school though why is the yield not high
Students are satisfied initially when they get Davis
But a lot of people who get Davis are able to get schools they may choose over Davis
Irvine, SD, SB, Cal, LA
I had Davis as a top choice until I nailed SD and eventually Cal
Itโs a great school but sometimes people get into better
I couldnt find Davisโs most recent common data set
only 2020-21
Not the CDS, but close
itโs crazy Davis is ranked higher than sb, sd and irvine witj less competitive admissions statistics
they doing something right fr
Does anyone know if its possible for me to switch to a different college within UCSD before starting as a freshman?
I put down revelle as my first choice and have read a lot of bad things about it ๐ญ
i think someone said here its only possible if you can prove you can graduate early or somethin
interesting.. like an appeal?>
im not too sure about the process
i just read someone say that on here
gotcha thanks
Yea the guy above is right, itโs really unlikely that u can change colleges tbh
Revelle isnโt the best college, but itโs not as bad as everyone makes it seem
not an ideal location
i c
Where???
On US news theyโre tied with USC
im talking about santa barbara san diego and irvine
even though those schools accept like half as many
WHAT
Well DAMN
But yeah Davis is a great school
Also it never ceases to shock me that only 3 UCs have an acceptance rate above 42%
UCs are quite competitive
wow ucsb deranked
Tritons on ๐
What major r u
Disciplinary action
hey guys
got admitted by uci
just wondering
how is uci math
compared to other ucs?
Real
best major
๐ฅฐ
Anything u donโt like about ucsd
This is a really vague question, by pure department ranking UCLA/Cal are most likely better, and perhaps some of the other UCs as well, but itโs probably not the worst ranked
What about things like curriculum? Class sizes? Professors? Individualized attention? Career paths and opportunities? Do you want a BS/MS? Research? Easy to get a good GPA? Do you want to graduate early? If youโre more specific someone with more knowledge than I do on this topic would find it easier to help you
why Merced still yapping to me
Why arenโt you planning your next adventure?
I think you should plan it at UC Merced, specifically the admissions office
lmaooooo
Me too
And I didnโt even fucking apply
Maybe weโre ELC
so that makes Merced the back up
are u ELC
im ELC
but
A) im not going to merced
B) idk when or how they even send out ELC, my friend asked me and im not sure. do you know?
bro got into the best/2nd best UC and the worst one thinks they can pull him
very ambitious i must say
We both nailed the best UC
(Itโs Berkeley)
(Academically and by name weight Berkeley is the #1 public university)
๐ค Berkeley more like UCB (ha take that)
which UCs u got
Crazy as fuck
i was humbled big time
im in state tho
me too
o
I got Davis, SD, Berkeley, Riverside
So out of 6 UCs I nailed 4
Irvine an L and LA is just plain hard
The rest took me tho so we chill
irvine is so bad
horrible
trash
garbage
the thing is why are they accepting people that got into MIT and Caltech
Even tho they know they are not gonna go there
Either SJSU or OOS
i would go SJSU if this OOS school didnt give a great scholarship to me that makes it cheapter than SJSU by like 10k
r u a CS major?
MIS
what is MIS
management info systems
o
i assume SJSU is p good for that cuz i think its p good for CS right
and theres lots of companies near it
yea
im considering the tuition too tho
since its liek 30k SJSU vs 20k for the OOS school that gave me merit aid (including r&b costs + fees)
so its kinda hard choice lol
im not counting on the waitlist Berk or SD to come through
i see, gl with your decision
thanks man
lol
Not even tbh
Even Cal State East Bay is clear
And nobody ever fucking talks about Cal State East Bay
Iโve never heard it mentioned in any conversation
@lost heart you committed?
not yet
