I would prefer a suburban or urban environment but have residency in both Missouri and Illinois

  • Major:
I want to major in computer engineering or computer science

  • GPA/Test Scores:
    GPA: 3.1/3.5
Major upward trajectory(junior grades significantly better)
Sat:1410(first sat I took, no prep I’m retaking once more in October)

I’d like a bigger school, I like the giant state school atmosphere

Willing to spend around 20k ish outta pocket Not including scholarships
I would be willing to pay more for schools like uiuc if I do somehow pull off the clutch.

Schools I’ve been considering
Uiuc(I know a lot of people who go there plus I really like there computer science program dads alma matter)
Ohio State(entire family tree has gone here)
Isu(in state relatively cheap)
Mizzou(in state would get a decent amount of merit aid)
ASU(toured there on vacation, absolutely loved the campus)

In state: DePaul, Illinois State U, University of Chicago, St. Louis U, and Wash U in St. Louis

Oh okay just wanted to give you options! In-state more for location as in not having to move far away from home

# paper kayak Also I doubt I could get into half those schools

Sorry I kinda skimmed over your post and didn't really pay attention to your grades. Tbh, some of the schools I mentioned are a reach for anyone even if someone had perfect grades and test scores. But you're right, you'd probs need to look into colleges with <40% acceptance rates.

Your local state schools would also be a good choice

UIUC has a way lower acceptance rate for computer science majors

#

It would probably be a reach for anyone

#

If you qualify for need-based aid:
UMissouri Columbia, UIllinois Chicago

#

For out-of-state schools you aren't able to get aid so the tuition will almost always be above 20k

#

But here are some good schools with over 20k tuition: Virginia Tech, UW Madison, University of Alabama, UN Lincoln

I probably won’t qualify for that much aid because my dad makes a decent bit but it’s not going torwards college

#

I’m also looking at bama because if I get 10 more points on my sat I’ll go there for like 3k

turns out my parents can actually do 40k because of a raise and my mom accepting a new job offer

#

is there any other schools i should look at?

#

i would prefer to be cheaper but its not a dealbreaker at this point
