Location: California ideally but I'm ok with anywhere that's not extremely extremely cold

  • Major: Electrical Engineering

  • GPA/Test Scores: 3.6# uw, 4.16 W, SAT 1430 but I didn't study for it, taking real focus one in August. I have really good ECs and I'd be taking 15 APs, 3 honors, and 1 community college total throughout hs so my rigor is good but grades aren't perfect.

  • Curriculum: nah as long as the program is well known and super good I'm ok

  • Size: would like to know professors a few times

  • Costs: not factor, in fact I'd rather go to a private than a UC the only downside is like cost I think right?

  • Schools You're Currently Looking At:

Here are all the ones I'm considering. Stanford/Caltech are the dreams. all UCs but Merced and Santa Cruz. Please suggest some safety schools!!! Especially csus. Talk me out or into whatever one please. I'm tryna finalize this list fr.

Claremont consortium, Brown, Carnegie mellon, Columbia, cornell, duke, emory, Georgia tech, purdue, Santa clara, U of San Diego, WashU, U of Washington, USC, uiuc

  • Additional: I like small schools but it's not the biggest deal, don't want a big frat scene, ideally would stay in california but not the biggest deal again current dream right now is one of the Claremont colleges, also I'm a white male

As a fellow engineer Tbh I’d take out brown. They’re not exactly known for engineering

I’d also look into oberlin given that ur interested in other lacs. Their engineering program is a 3+2 program (where you do 3 years there and 2 years at an engineering school) (these engineering partners include cal tech and Columbia, among others) as someone who applied and got into that I think it’s pretty cool

That sounds cool but I don't know if I wanna do liberal arts stuff for 3 years

If you claim enough ap credits you dont have to

True true

#

Where else does this?

prisma thunder
#

Most of the well known lacs have this sort of thing like Amherst bowdoin and cmc for example

verbal iris
#

Wait so why are LACs, LACs when they have engineering

#

I don't understand the idea

prisma thunder
#

You do basic science stuff (bio, chem, physics) at the Liberal arts college and then you do ur engineering courses at the partner engineering school and in 5 years you get 2 degrees one from the lac and one from the engineering school

I don't know if I have enough ap creds

#

Cuz those first years sound lowkey uninteresting

#

cmc can't I just take harvey mudd engineering classes earlier than those 2 years

Idk much about cmc’s program and/or how it works.
