#Help Me Narrow Down My List

for example uroch or sunys
Cut njit too
also maybe RIT unless ur a huge fan of their co op program and potential shot at the SUNY upstate med bsmd and the 5 year masters program
i audibly gasped at the length of this list
cut safeties down heavily. find 3-4 that you actually like (can see yourself at) and go with those
that'll immediately shave 10 off your list
bringing you down to 23 schools, 20 of which are still reaches unless you really want to shotgun
1 safety and however target and reach u can afford is my advice
your reaches are all t20 schools which more or less fit your criteria (easily summed up by saying "good academics + career opportunities" .... pretty much a universal constant for any university at that caliber)
1 safety is stupid. do at least 2-3
why? no need to apply to more when you have one that you're comfortable going with
if worst case comes to fruition and you're left to choose between your safeties, having more than 1 option under your belt at least provides some semblance of a choice
they likely have reasons for why they listed so many
its easier to narrow it down to 3
than 1
also. this is a2c. people here will consider schools with 25% acceptance rates as "safeties." apply to that as your fallback school and you don't get in, then what?
my rec is 3-4. not less than 2
true true lmao
anyways. @meager stump if you want to narrow down your reaches (or you can shotgun, be my guest), think critically about what aspects of a school you would prefer aside from academics. weather? social life? ease of transport? activities? location? if not helping to cut down your list, it will at least give yourself more clarity on what exactly you want out of college

first, these two are bad at finance so if you are studying finance then i would rule them out:
georgia tech
rennsaeler polytechnic
in general most polytech places will be
Also rule out:
Virginia tech (too big), rochester institute of technology (doesn't got great programs for your majors), rutgers (way too big), northeastern, columbia (biomed eng program isn't great), nyu (too big, programs are ok)
also a lot of the ivys are similar so maybe consider applying to the ones you really like š¤·āāļø
i listed them out for you in that same message
weather, social life, ease of transport, activities, location, etc.
- social structure, size, greek life, campus culture, traditions, specifically niche departments/clubs/programs
there's also stuff like housing, how nice campus is
Yeah its a rllly good program but emorys amazing for premed and gt is great for bme
financial aid issues and stuff can be very common
tbf almost all of those schools are bad for finance (the ones on his list rn)
and i wpuld keep northeastern columbia and nyu
I mean NYU is bigger than 18k students so unless its programs for bme/mech/finance are super amazing (which they arenāt really) Iād rule it out. And again for a bme major Columbia isnāt great.
nyu has an amazing finance program
literally one of the biggest finance feeders out there š
Yuh but its a double major - just cause finance is good doesnāt mean you should go
If bme/mech arenāt as good
And again school is too big for their preferences
nyu is a mid sized school??
NYU has like 28k undergrads
Thatās literally 10,000 more which is not a small margin lol
A lot of the ivys will have decent finance and MIT
what field of finance r u interested in?
But you probably need target/safeties as well
if your interested in finance as a career look up āinvestment banking target schoolsā and that should give you a rough idea
For just finance and not bme or mech - UW Madison, UIUC, UM College Park, CWRU (target), UT Austin (target)
