Location: Anywhere, international so doesnt really matter but I would prefer something not too remote
Major: Mech E or Design E
Stats: Hoping for a 42-43 predicted IB grade, SAT: 1560
Curriculum: Open to both sturctured and open, obsessed with the structure at Cal Tech but also interested in the open structure at something like cornell
Size: Preferably small, but doesnt matter too much
Costs: def def def need aid, and looking for schools that offer a lot of aid/scholarships to ints such as BU and Cornell's TATA
Schools rn: Really long list that needs to be shortened:
Additional: really interested in doing a dual degree so if there any schools that offer that, would love to know abt that as well (such as Upenn)

in real need of targets

Thanks!

personally BU isn't a reach for you

#

you got way too many safeties

#

i think one 3-4 of those is alr enough

#

i think twin cities, asu and umass all have great mech e majors so those should be good for your safeties

#

I'd add UIUC (they have a great dual degree for engineering i think) and emory (both assuming that you'll get aid from scholarship)

#

emory i think has a dual degree with gatech

Wellp, it should be easy to take UChicago off your list because theh don't have an engineering program. Darrmouth is also pretty remote, if that's not something you're interested in. UC Berkeley does not give financial aid to international students. Brown isn't very well-known for meche, but maybe that's a pro admissions-wise. If anything, I would replace harvard with MIT.

For targets, it's hard to say because honestly, international students seeking fin aid are going to have a much harder time admissions-wise, because a lot of schoold will consider your ability to pay as a factor for whether or not to admig you. So, unless you have insane extracurricular engagement, it's going to be pretty tough.

There's something called the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship that I would check out. As wells as George Washington University's International Engineering Scholarship, Syracuse University, Stevens Institute of Technilogy Global Scholarship, and University of Miami.

not really going for mit, dont see the point

BU isn't known for its generosity towards international students

#

Remove all the publics from your list if you need significant financial aid

#

Remove CMU (they won't give you a penny)

#

Remove CWRU

#

(All this depending on how much aid you need, of course)

#

HMC as well, stingy with aid

Doesn't take away the fact that BU isn't known to be generous

#

As opposed to other colleges

Or take out loans?

#

One last thing, you don't have any "safeties" per se as an aid-seeking international

#

Unless we're talking specific unis like UAlabama, USM... that might be affordable after scholarships, considering your strong SAT score
