location: I'm In state for North Carolina, and would be happy to stay close to home or move far. I prefer shorter winters to longer winters, and would like to stay somewhere without those long winters.
major: Probably either Geography or some version of Political Science. I am looking into grad school for urban planning, but would like a degree that can stand on its own or offer other paths.
**test scores: ** 33 act and 1460 sat. 3.9 UW GPA and 4.4 GPA at slightly above average public school. I have had a lot of improvement in rigor and grades since the covid year. Lots of A- lol.
curriculum Interested in a Liberal arts curriculum. Would love to be able to explore different areas. Not afraid of a difficult curriculum but I am not explicitly searching it out.
**size: ** Greater than 2000.
**costs: ** In state colleges are all affordable, and colleges with need based aid are barely affordable for me with work study.
**schools i'm currently looking at: **
safety: I absolutely love App state. Also considering Mizzou for the merit aid.
target: UNC-Chapel Hill
reach: URichmond, Emory.
other info:
Looking for a very welcoming community rather than a preprofessional environment. Great study abroad is a plus. Accepting lots of AP credit is a plus. Thank yall!

Have you considered Davidson and Wake Forest maybe?

UVA is out of state and i’m not super well versed on their merit aid offerings, but their political science program is very good, close to NC (relatively), campus is great, and it’s a state school so it’s not as preppy.

on the other side, U of SC has really good merit aid and is also a pretty good school!
