I've committed to UCSD but just got off the Madison waitlist. Pursuing applied math at UCSD, math at Madison (they don't have applied?). Location SD is better, cost isn't a big factor. Want to pursue grad studies / job for some time before grad studies later on so placements are kinda important.
Just wanted to see if I should consider switching to Madison

wb academics, scope of research, sports (OP is an international-level karate champ 😮💨), scope of changing curriculum (in his last post OP said he might want to try data science)

academics wise you’re gonna get about the same and they’re similar-ranked. Undergrad research in math is gonna be hard af anyway and you can’t do much with a couple classes experience so I think he’ll get a similar research experience at both colleges. If OPs goal is to get a solid job before grad studies, location is gonna be a huge factor and sd is obviously better. As for switching to DS, it’ll obviously be easier at Madison (however I’ve heard there’s a lot of overcrowding), but u need to decide what sort of job you want with potentially a DS degree from Madison or applied math at SD given the difference in location.
