Intended major: Computer Science

Gatech vs Rice.

Georgia Tech
Gatech Pros:
Cheaper ($50000)
More recruitment opportunities, better/more well-known in industry.
Very highly ranked for CS, more rigorous
Can transfer more IB credits than Rice
Location+family in Atlanta
Large makerspaces/clubs

Gatech Cons:
Grade deflation?
Stressful environment?
More students/bigger class sizes

Rice University
Rice Pros:
Beautiful campus
Smaller class sizes and lower undergraduate population.
Better undergraduate focus/experience, "happier students"
Ranked top 15 overall/more well-known?
Wider range of courses/majors
Residential colleges/closer community

Rice Cons:
Humid weather, no family in Houston
Not as highly ranked.
More expensive ($79000) (but willing to pay if I want to go)

Thanks.

Don’t see how Rice is worth an extra $29k/yr

#

Also gatech doesn’t have much grade deflation imo, as a student there. Especially CS is pretty chill.

I'd say Gtech quite confidently

#

like even without the price difference, I'd personally say gtech, but the price difference makes it quite clear

GTech buddy
Rice CS isn't that good, much less an extra 120k in total. Infact, I have like 6 friends who chose GT over Rice

gt's con's are mostly false

#

CS grade deflation isn't real

#

courses are not stressful and profs/ta's are very nice and understanding

no question about it at all

#

generally if any school is 50k cheaper you should take it

#

esp if their cs is regarded arguably higher

I'd go as far as to say that even at the same cost, pick GT

#

(if you're sure about CS)
