Im having a hard time deciding between the two, I’m entering electrical engineering and both as far as I know are well respected universities.
UW pros: As far as I know the best co op program in Canada, and I heard the housing market there is better after your 1st year if you can’t get a dorm there compared to Vancouver. Closer to family as well seeing I will be traveling to Canada I have family in the region. Also easier Admission requirements in case the worst occurs for me.
UW cons: Pricing estimated to be around 35k CAD including living expenses for first year dorms and meal plans. I also heard the campus is not as good as UBC and it’s more depressing to live there
UBC pros: better campus and pricing is extremely cheaper than UW being around 26K CAD. More research opportunities if I want to layer on pursue a masters or PHD
UBC cons: far away from any family, housing after 1st year I’m not too sure about and the quality of first year dorms seem inferior to that of Waterloo. Also I can only go down two letter grades from my predicted which worries me.
Something that would help affect my decision is knowing more about UBC co op, I can’t find anything about how reliable it is compared to Waterloo.
