kinda concerned about the elitism-- im from a lower middle class single-parent household so im worried that i wont fit in
I had similar concerns going into undergrad (I'm at Harvard) but I've found that overwhelmingly it's not a big deal

Princeton math is absolutely insane, like #1 in the world. Princeton is also very undergrad focused so the quality of teaching will be very good across all subjects.

princeton at it's core is still a research institution, faculty are hired primarily to do research

from your post it seems like princeton is the way

#

the program at northwestern sounds great but people change their interests a lot so I'd generally avoid going for a specific program if you're not as excited about the rest of the school
