#Boston University BU vs UC San Diego UCSD

BU pros: Better location (opportunities and connections), chance to really go out and see more of the world (lots of other schools nearby, again possible opportunities and connections), guaranteed 4-year housing, flexible major transfers (apparently?), takes AP credit so may be able to skip some GEs and possibly double major/dual degree? or graduate early to save money, decent film major, gave $20k total so cancels out regents scholarships
BU cons: Expensive af (scholarship barely makes a dent), farther from partner, grade-deflation (not too terrible apparently? Also a good challenge i guess), Probably won’t transfer if I choose to go, harder to get classes (i think? someone lmk if it’s not the case), new GE thing can be a bit messy/annoying since it’s new and you have to plan ahead
Overall: I see myself thriving at BU, the price is just really throwing me off and if I chose to go I would most likely graduate from there rather than transfer (so less options open I guess)
What is your BU major
fine arts at BU, will definitely try to double major with film or if thats not possible transfer to film and minor in fine arts
I would go to UCSD: cost is less, weather is prolly a lot better, and I'm pretty sure ucsd would have opportunities for film (don't necessarily have to major in film?), and ICAM sounds rly fun
Thanks for ur input =)
Weather is not a big deal for me, I guess i'm just concerned about how STEM oriented UCSD is that I might be missing out on opportunities I could get in a big city like boston, but I do plan to pursue grad so I dont know how significant that is
I'm also leaning towards UCSD even though I love both schools
I think with the money, they are too similar to take BU over UCSD for that much money
Do you think I could go to ucsd then transfer to a more reputable university for film/arts (ucla, usc, etc.) and use the reason of the lack of a film major?
if u go to UCSD, forget transferring to other UCs. It won't happen
why
ucla takes a decent amt of uc-uc transfer
They’ve recently started accepting community college students much more. Transferring between UC’s is hella hard now
mainly riverside and the other avg ones. UCSD is like tier 1
Yea I'm aware ucla takes mostly cc students, but I was thinking because UCSD doesn't actually have a specific major like film that could give me an edge in the transfer process
Also UCLA isnt the only school I'm possibly hoping to transfer to if that makes sense
Don't go to UCSD if you plan on trying to transfer imo
At that point you should just go to BU
I think transferring is just one option im considering, it's not like definite
