#cs sophomore :3

We have a CS + math program here that combines both subjects into a single major
We are also top 5 in cs 😎
Nah nah it's ok for CS + stats. Still low but it's a good reach. Plus your ecs and stuff will help
Isn’t it 6.7%
Nah CS + x is higher
Ah
I mean this profile is good enough to get into anywhere with some luck I want you to understand, other recommendations werent necessarily unrealistic
are you US citizen by any chance?
or fully intl
i’d disagree, there’s nothing truly stand-out, one in a thousand here. for an international applying cs? those chances would be dim
UIUC + x is a rec i agree with though, higher acceptance rates for int than oos
UCSD and UCSB are solid targets, maybe bordering on reach nowadays, if you enjoy california
I mean I would agree with that but you have to keep in mind this is a sophomore and she has 2 more years to boost her application
It’s definitely a great starting point
If you don't have specific reasons to dislike Cornell I would definitely ED it, then.
Also, are you not US citizen or anything? If you are you are a domestic student even if you live abroad
Just curious especially since your mom went to Cornell
??? LNAO YOURE THERE WTF?
Do you know Oscar personally?
Well actually you probably don't considering you're across the world from us
If you can pay full price then I’d say your reaches can be all the UCs and lots of mid privates like USC, HMC, WashU, NYU, etc
And then obv all the hard reaches like ivies etc
Probably better to apply to more private schools than public ones
UCSD is def not a target, their CS acc rate is 6% iirc
are there any targets that anyone would recommend?
or is basically any school a reach for me bc international :(
UW Madison is a target
idk probably still seems like a bit of a reach
are there any like safety~target schools?
Bro just slandered washu
Dude literally. WashU is not a “mid private school”
I don't think any of the listed ones are 😭
i meant mid private schools as in acceptance rate is around 10 percent or in that area
a 10% acceptance rate is very not-mid 😭
its a mid reach
it's like a very hard reach 😭
no no hard reach is 5 percent ish
im intl 😭
so even like a state school would be a reach for me
maybe a low reach eh
im trippin
like it wouldn't be an impossible reach
but still wouldn't be a target
low reach
bordering on target
:0
yeah riverside
oh riverside
its very tough for international CS people
yuh
but UCs do take lots of internationals
do you want to stick with majoring in CS or go towards something less competitive to apply to
like math or stats
or data science
cuz you're a sophomore you have time to shape your ECs
idk i spent too much time coding 😭
i can't go back at this point

also holy fuck
i just realized
you got into cmu scs
😍
yeah idk how
holy fuck 😭
i made a college results post if it will help ig
53 votes and 7 comments so far on Reddit
but idk at this point maybe ill shotgun to like all top schools
idk how much it will help but you can use some of my list
you have not seen insane, I saw some kid with like NASA internships and multiple olympiads
my dreams to get into a top 100 college are ruined at this point :0
CS is absolutely crazy
bro you are cracked for a sophomore
when I was a sophomore I was just playing clash royale all day, you have a fucking USACO gold
yesterday i've seen a freshman taking multivariable calc + calc based physics so 😭
idk my hopes are 📉 📉 📉
nah trust, you will get in somewhere good
aw thanks :3
if this is your profile as a sophomore, you'll be stacked as a senior
bruh
level of reach depends on your profile
Like most kids actually have a 0% chance of getting into 10% acceptance rate schools
😭 tbh im so fucking confused with the college process :0
like i go to a intl feeder school, but i can't tell if being intl would make it much harder for me to get into unis, or if i'd still have a good chance bc my school is kinda a feeder :/
it will still be harder for you
tbh i can't tell bc a shit ton of seniors at my school are getting into hella good unis
but like im still applying intl?
college stuff is driving me insane

i would doubt anyone who says that UCSB is a safety now, the previously considered ‘mid’ and ‘low’ tier UCs have been dropping their acceptance rate like crazy, steeper drops for OOS and international students too
even with your current profile, you’re likely to get to a good school. you still have lots of time to develop your ECs and of course, your life passions
college drives everyone insane. i would say not to worry about it, but that would be hypocritical. bide your time and let the worry come later
yuh, unfortunately I think that's the vibe of my school though where everyone's trying to get into like a t20 :(
dw about it, you're a sophomore rn
just pursue the best opportunities you can and follow your interests, it will shine through on your application
these are reaches for cs
maybe ucsd
bruh that’s j yield prot at that point
nah
i got in for second major at sd and sb
so that's only gonna hurt their acceptance and yield rates
Damn a2cers never understand that public schools don't yield protect
is there even an intl feeder school though?
it’s a joke lol
but princeton over sd and sb shows how whack uc admissions can be
just saw this and what the heck!!!! how cracked could you even be - and stilll mit/stanford schools rejected? what do the even want?
thanks but there’s way more cracked people than me with olys and shit
and tbh even if I got MIT or Stanford I’d pick CMU because it’s way cheaper for me
and same for CS
not to mention my demographics weren’t exactly in my favor so I’d take anything I could get lol
makes sense
congrats btw
thank you, good luck to you too
