I’m a sophomore looking for reach/safety/target schools. I have three reach schools:

UChicago
UIUC
WashU
I’m looking for schools that emphasize undergraduate research and have a strong physics program. I’m also looking for schools with scholarship options. I live in STL and I want to stay close to my family, but it’s okay if the schools are a bit far away.

Stats:
4.0UW/4.3W
I’ll have 8 APs at the end of Junior year but idk about senior year
Fairly strong extracurriculars(President of physics club, vice president of equations club and coding club, created an international scientific society, quantum computing class, nuclear physics research, job for 2 years, several coding projects)/volunteering hours (teaching kids to code, volunteer at the library, transcription, volunteer blog writer).
34 ACT but I’ve only taken it once

If anybody could help me out that would be awesome!

how much aid do you need and how much do you roughly expect to get from schools?

in the midwest(ish), Northwestern, CWRU, UW-Madison, UMN Twin Cities, UT Austin, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Michigan State, and UMichigan are all solid for physics

#

if you're willing to go a bit farther, most of the top physics schools are on the coasts (stanford, berkeley, caltech, princeton, harvard, mit)

pine pendant how much aid do you need and how much do you roughly expect to get from schools?

I could afford to go to UIUC and UMichigan, but I wouldn’t be able to afford to go to WashU and UChigago without aid. Other than that I don’t really know the specifics. I mean those are both very costly schools also.

UMich sounds awesome. I will say that it’s been to Ohio state and I didn’t really like the vibe. Same with GT. The others I don’t really know. I don’t want to go to a very athletic school cause I’m not a huge fan of that culture (I’ve already got that at my high school) so I would sort of be long for something that’s more academic based ykow? Also if you can’t tell I’ve put like 0 thought into this so far so im sorry about that

like if Stanford is on the table then I think the whole country is fine?
