#UConn vs Purdue

so sorry, i mentioned it in the original post but its gone
ill retype everything
Ohok
U exceed the 35 line limit
here u go
So I'm a citizen of US but living in India right now. For UConn (Safety) I applied for mech engineering and industrial for Purdue. Here's the catch: I didn't get into the main campuses for either of them. I got into UConn Stamford and for Purdue they gave me the option to choose between the other 3.
Uconn Pros
- i got 17K financial aid
- it's near Massachusetts where I grew up
Uconn cons
- it's 17k over the entire 4 years, so not a lot
- its cold bro
- UConn by itself was ok, but stamford is very low ranked
- on niche there are some really terrible reviews; they say its very small and not a good place
- they didnt have industrial engineering so i had to apply for mechanical
Purdue Pros
- Good name brand
- i got into industrial engineering which is what i want to do, not mech
- i think its ranked higher than Uconn stamford
Purdue Cons
- again, ranked very low
- a bunch of kids in my school are going to Purdue main campus so they're going to know something is up when they don't see me
- Cold (i originally wanted to be in NC but I haven't got any choice now)
- no financial aid (haven't got an offer yet, idk if i'm going to)
Tiebreaking considerations
- prestige/ranking
- campus life
Addendum
- idc about parties, i just want to be in a place where theres a good student community
- wherever the weather is better (not too cold)
- campus shouldn't be out in the middle of nowhere, maybe near the city
- don't want to be a transfer kid bc i'll have to start over in new school
I got waitlisted from NC state but I don't think I can rely on getting in there. But I'm doing IB and i'm thinking about taking a gap year and applying next cycle with my final grades, provided they're better than my predicted (36/45).
Another problem with this is that I'll have to stay at home for another year and i have a very bad home life. Can someone pls advise me on this? I'm very confused and neither of these campuses is where i want to go but this is the best i've got.
I'd say go to Purdue, it has a muchh better rep for engineering
Oh sorry
Even Fort Wayne?
Yeah I guess that’s better then
is that the regional campus? I'm not familiar with purdue, but is it possible anyhow to transfer to the main campus?
If not, don't pay a premium price a regional campus (when you have a discounted price at another regional campus)
uconn. the purdue regional campuses are worse than mid.
wait you didn't get into uconn main campus either, hmm still would lean towards uconn though
oh darn
ok got it
yes, its not the main one
oh yes that's a good point actually
thx guys
does anyone know anything about the conditions of the UConn stamford campus
are they really as small as people say?
i would watch some videos from students who went to stamford
also, i would see which school has a greater chance of letting you transfer to the main campus
I don’t know much about UCONN Stamford, but ik it’s kinda dead
oh thats a good idea
yeah but that means i have to start over at the other school so thats not ideal
how do you mean dead?
not many kids on campus - I know a couple that commute. If campus life is something you’re concerned about, I’d definitely take that into consideration
oh god
i feel like im in between a rock and a hard place
thanks tho
Here’s a subreddit a good that gives you a little more info.

There will probably be a handful of transfer students so I wouldn't worry too much
Especially with what seyd said, Stamford has a sizable commuter student body
oh cool thanks
i take a look
