Schools: Rutgers, NJIT, Purdue, UMD, VT
Intended major: Computer engineering except for Purdue which is Cybersecurity
Rutgers
School 1 Pros:

  • In state
-I know people that are going here
    -Not too far from home
-I like the weather in Jersey because I’ve lived here all my life
    -Good and well-known school
-I like the surroundings and access to things
    -School spirit and fun
    School 1 Cons:
    -In state
    -No scholarships
    NJIT
    School 2 Pros:
-Basically the same as Rutgers but its lesser known and in a worse location
    -8k scholarship
    School 2 Cons:
    -🤓🤓🤓
    -Newark
    -In state
    Purdue
    School 3 Pros:
-Well-known school with a good name
-Top 10 for Cybersecurity on US News
    -Out of state
-A few of my friends are planning on going there
-The cheapest out-of-state school for me
    School 3 Cons:
-I’ve heard it’s in the middle of nowhere
    -Not my first choice major
-What the hell is a boilermaker

UMD
School 4 Pros:
-Well-known school with a good name
-Very good for engineering
-Out of state
-My number-one choice out of the ones I got accepted
-Great proximity to D.C. and Baltimore
School 4 Cons:
-Expensive because no aid
VT
School 4 Pros:
-Well-known school with a good name
-Very good for engineering
-Out of state
-Good opportunities through the school
-Good community
School 4 Cons:
-Expensive because no aid
-Massive school
-Middle of nowhere? (idk)
Tiebreaking considerations:

  • I want to know what the college surroundings are like and if it's worth going because of how expensive the out-of-state schools are. I want to go to a school close to a nice city or something near a place that's busy and fun to go to on weekends or something like that, so I just wanna know if any of these schools match that description and if it's possible to save money going to the ones out of state.
