for reference, my friend graduated uiuc cs last yr. job offers from google, apple, and facebook. he negotiated a starting i think around 200k w/ benefits lol

Uiuc cs is probably better but my parents wont approve of me taking it over columbia lmao

UIUC is the clear winner just cause of the major. It'll definitely be hard to decline an ivy over a public uni but the only reason to take columbia would be if you aren't keen on pursuing cs as a major, or just wanna say "im going to columbia"

True. I was just speaking to people on CS careers sevrer and they went "ivy who? UIUC is far more reputed"

columbia core curriculum is going to be super annoying if you hate liberal arts

uiuc will let you take a lot more stem focused classes

at that level the prestige will be non-impact both great schools, it would be down to your choice of location, courses they offer ect
