Schools: WashU (BS in CS), UMich (BS in CS), Imperial College London (MEng in AI)
Intended major: CS, but I might want to double major in MechE or physics or robotics
Similarities: Similar in cost (for me)

WashU
WashU Pros:

  • I think? it’s more prestigious than UMich overall(might be wrong)
    -Smaller classes

WashU Cons:

  • Ranked lower than UMich for CS
    -Missouri lmao
-I haven’t been able to visit so I can’t gauge the campus that well
-More gen eds (not the end of the world but annoying)

UMich
UMich Pros:

  • Top ranked CS
-Sounds like they have a lot of connections with industry and internship opportunities
    -Nice campus and surrounding area
    -Big alumni network
    -robotics major

Umich Cons:
-A student told me CS classes were overcrowded
-worried about being able to get close to professors for potential research
-relatively white(I’m Asian)

Imperial
Imperial Pros:
-really good CS program, also lots of industry connections
-4 years masters and I can specialize in AI
-lots of internationals so hopefully lots of different perspectives
-also I could do 3 years and come back for masters in US
-Can do research summer at CMU or MIT

Imperial Cons:

  • No double major(can’t take classes outside of CS)
  • I don’t know how it is regarded in the US if I come back afterwards

Tiebreaking considerations:

  • Internship opportunities, especially in Big Tech
-I have had more time to look into UMich so I might be missing things with the others

Also please let me know if any other factors I might have missed

Another major consideration: ability to double major

Hey there! I've looked into UMich double majoring and it seems to be not all that difficult. It's only 14 more credits (128 vs. 142) and based on this document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/16OJYf5f1rvip2c_rieRh2JCF1LVv2exbzyz6gwlu3-E/preview) it looks like you may even be able to satisfy some CS requirements with ME classes.
