Schools: University of Washington and UCSB
Major: poli sci/ pre-law.
Similarities: I have a UDub scholarship so cost is relatively the same, diverse culture and social scene, pretty campuses
UW
-l got accepted into the honors program. (Special housing, research opportunities, plus there’s only 223 admitted incoming honors spots so I’ll prob stand out?!)
- I want to go law school, smaller classes+ honors would look better and boost my letters of rec I’m assuming?!! I know people said the honors program has too many reqs/they don’t like the interdisciplinary courses but that’s not really a huge takeaway for me.
- near a large city unlike UCSB
-study abroad+ research
UCSB
-I’m from California, so it would be more convenient. (I got a scholarship for UW tho, so cost is relatively the same)
-social life/ party school
-it’s ranked higher on usnews (!! I know this is total bullshit but my parents keep on guilt tripping me about this)
-a lot of my friends are going there so I’ll already have people I know going in
-it’s in California so beach+ good weather. I’ve lived in California my entire life so I’m pretty hesitant abt Washington weather and UW being OOS.
, I'd visit both and see
