#UW Seattle (CS) vs Georgia Tech (CS)

some of the best placements
some of THE BEST coop
and employer satisfaction
not much of a bubble
but atlanta is really cool
i like it over seattle personally
and food and employment on campus idk
To add-on, I don't know much about Seattle but I live in Atlanta, and there are tons of job opportunities literally right next door
I mean you can see the Midtown Google office from campus as well as the Coca-Cola HQ. There's Home Depot and UPS headquarters to the north. There's Chik-fil-a and delta nearby.
And those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head
They're always scouting GA tech students too
BUT Seattle is also a great place for jobs
Skimming through I can see places like Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks
ALSO I don't what type of activities they have at UDUB but GA tech is INSANE
I went to the garage where they build cars for the motorsport competitions
It's super impressive and entirely student-led
If you want to build your resume you'll find tons of opportunities at GA Tech
Both colleges are fantastic for CS; you'll probably end up making the same salaries at either college
gatech is AWESOME my dude
yep and ofc in state tuition is a huge advantage
Getting high-paying tech jobs there should be really easy
good luck! i visited tech and loved the campus too
but funnily enough ill prob end up at mich
Glad to know you'll be visiting. That makes a huge difference : )
Huge congrats. π« dream school right here
good luck! you got this
mich is awesome as well
damn, congrats
mich is a fantastic uni
really expensive, but still amazing
crap that's expensive
where're you currently at?
oof
i had no idea it was so damn expensive
probably better to ask students currently over there, maybe ask on their subreddits?
^
at gt you're guranteed on campus housing your first two years
after that it becomes difficult to get it but there's also good off-campus options
favorite: the sheer amount of things happening every day there's some company recruiting some fun event going on the campus felt pretty alive in the fall.
The courses are pretty tame like none of the professors are trying to murder your gpa or make anything needlessly hard. There's also 1 on 1 tutoring available, helpdesks and review sessions held for the intro courses so if you are struggling there is help.
So so many student orgs so any thing I want to learn and work on with a group exists. There's a bunch for webdev, robotics, data science.
I can avoid the humanities. GT takes a ton of AP credits so I can avoid basically all the humanities courses. Even for the ones that I do need they're pretty fun. Like for English 2, I took a course on sci fi so we watched Dune and Wandavision
It's also big enough so you can really find any subculture or group you want like there's video game developers artists theatre nerds finance bros.
least favorite:
The classes can sometimes be too easy which goes against the reputation but yeah like the data structures and algorithms course is just diagramming stuff.
if you don't seek out the opportunities yourself you won't know they exist (like I missed the fact kamala harris was visiting until she got here because I don't read all my emails lol)
If you qualify for work-study programs, I know that UW offers many, many opportunities on campus for students that need them.
Also, if finances play a major role in your decision and you're interested in grad school, I'd save at UW so that you can have more money ready to be used as you head for graduate education.
the uw food court is pretty great
that's just about all I have to say lol
np william :D
Honestly I donβt know much abt CS schools? Iβd do UW just off the fin aid that sounds like the a significant factor
