Schools: University of San Francisco, Seattle University
Intended major: business - eventually would like to get an MBA
Similarities: both are jesuit schools, both are in good locations on the west coast, schools are,,, a bit above average? academically. i wanted a small student body/campus in a large city, and im glad these are my top two choices.

UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO
Pros: location!!!! absolutely beautiful campus, connected to the city in many more ways than one. i personally feel like i would fit in to the people and the city. visted campus, it was great. closer to home. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION! also has a good music scene/campus radio (specifically rooted in electronic music) which has become a dealbreaker for me

Cons: the price :( offered me 35k in merits, (would have to pay 43k) so i am currently 13k over budget w my mom. however - got a deal with my father that if i work a part time job he will match the money i make to put into the price. so i did the calculations - make 7500 w a part time job while in school... i would be able to afford it. only other issue is that they raise tuition every year so thats a bit worrying.

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY
School 2 Pros: location! near downtown seattle, dorms are better than usf, seattle has a good music scene as well - offered me an honors program spot. cheaper than usf by 5k because of work study. am told that i would do well in the pnw.

School 2 Cons:
city doesnt rely on public transportation as much, farther away from home, never been to seattle or washington before. campus is in outer city and larger than usf’s. weather (i am from southern california). scared about some type of culture shock lol

Tiebreaking considerations: obviously, price. it really does come down to jobs. i can get a job in san fran pretty easily, due to USF’s location and nearby neighborhoods that are literally 10-15 minutes walking distance from campus. SU is giving me a set amount, and in san fran it just depends on how much i work a week, so i could possibly get more idk

Addendum: i love going to concerts so how close venues are is a complete dealbreaker w/ me. a few in sf actually are across the bay in oakland/berkley or even near stanford, so maybe a con compared to how many venues are closer to SU. i’m obviously leaning towards one school more than the other but yk im not completely sure. would love some advice, thank you :)

From Seattle so I can can answer some questions. Our city has a regional card system that works for the ferry, bus, and light rail. The weather does cause people to develop seasonal depression so you def have to take vitamin D. Music scene: 100% depends on what you like. For bigger acts (Beyonce, Twice, SZA) you have to drive/bus down to the Tacoma Dome. Medium size acts go towards the stadiums (Tyler the Creator, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys) while if you into smaller artists (Alex G, 100 gecs, Keshi) you can find multiple venues around the city. (Crocodile, shobox, etc)
