Hello A2C,
I am wanting to major in Computer Science so I applied to these schools, one of the schools (Santa Clara) have accepted me and is a school I am VERY heavily considering. Before I confirm my admission and pay the $500 enrollment fee, I wanted to ask for your opinion and if you can help me choose a school please
First off Finances, I am a Veteran and I have the GI Bill along with disability pay, I can afford all colleges I've listed in the title

Santa Clara
PRO:
- It's a really good school, in the Top 50's for quality education so I'm really grateful for this
- It is in the heart of Silicon Valley. I looked and top companies hire there but I wonder if it's true
- I heard this school is more so vibey but really fun too in the heart of Santa Clara/San Jose
- Weather
NEUTRAL: - It has a small student body, either a pro or con but to me as long as I can meet new people I'm happy. It seems like the vibe there is chill too so I'm all for it
- The curriculum is very Math heavy and while I don't mind it I believe other degrees are different are they not? I just wonder if I can learn as much Computer Science as I can if I go here
- California
UT Austin
PRO:
- I hear a lot of great things about this school for both Computer Science AND Business. I really want to double major in Management Information Systems as well as Computer Science, this is one of the main reasons I'm considering holding out for this college
- I hear Austin is a fun city, and UT Austin is filled with motivated people who want to learn!
- Also a really good school, Top 10 for Computer Science?
CON: - Texas. I am an outdoors guy so I like mountains and lakes and beaches, Texas is just hot. I just hope the area makes up for it.
- I'm waiting until April to hear something back :/
USC
PRO
- It's a REALLY good school, honestly my dream dream school (everything listed here is my dream schools but this one especially). All of the degrees are combined with some type of Business, I would benefit greatly going here.
- Also a VERY fun party school, work hard play hard mentality I love it
CON: - Los Angeles
- LONG WAIT TIME for a decision, like I'm waiting until June to hear something back :/
UW-Madison
PRO:
- Really good Computer Science program which is the only reason I want to attend
- I actually hear back maybe next week since I enrolled as a Priority decision
- ANOTHER REALLY FUN SCHOOL for having fun and partying haha
CON: - WEATHER AND WISCONSIN. I am from the tropical equator (Hawaii), I'll be struggling for sure
Can you guys help me decide which school do you like? I really want to know - thank you
Austin is an awesome city, I lived there when I was in my 20’s. I’ve heard UT Austin has a great program as well.
My husband went to USC for his masters in engineering; great school, really good for networking, but very expensive.
That's what I heard too which is why I'm considering holding out but is it worth it?
I forgot to mention that I do have a decision date? It says to confirm on June 15 but the advisor told me if there's a lot of people enrolling before me there's a very high chance I lose my opportunity to be selected for the yellow ribbon program for the school, I gotta sit back and think about this one
Thank you for your opinion!
Not sure about that 🫠
i would give it some time
UT austin and USC have some edge for CS
and USC is esp great for CS and business
UW madison is also a quite nice choice
