Schools: Georgia Tech vs University of Florida vs University of Central Florida
Intended major: Computer Science, hopefully software engineering
Similarities: UF and UCF are pretty on par with cs right now. ucf might have the edge regarding the program, but uf has the name

Georgia Tech
School 1 Pros:

  • Not in Florida
  • Better for computer science
    -As much as school doesn’t matter overall, going to Georgia tech definitely helps for landing internships, which can help pay off debt

School 1 Cons:

  • Costs, I’m an out of state student so it’s unlikely I’ll leave the school without debt

University of Florida
School 2 Pros:

  • Honors program (nicer dorms)
    -Don’t have to pay tuition due to bright futures
    -(Maybe scholarship?)

School 2 Cons:

  • Campus is mid with an ugly city it’s in, I toured and Gainesville was pretty ugly.

University of Central Florida
School 3 pros:
-30k scholarship, free tuition
-Orlando

School 3 cons:
-Lots of kids from my high school
-Mentality thing, I worked hard during high school to go out of state, and going to ucf feels like my efforts were wasted because I could go somewhere “better”

Tiebreaking considerations:

  • I’m still waiting on financial aid for all schools. I don’t expect much from gt since I’m oos, and i don’t know what scholarships I’ll get for uf.

Addendum: Ever since freshman year I’ve wanted to go out of state, experience something “new.” I guess gt is out of state but it’s still similar to Florida I feel? Though Atlanta is more city-like so it’ll still be that new experience I’ve been seeking

btw if you're interested in competitive programming UCF literally pays people to practice for it and their team places ridiculously highly, like top 30 in the world.
