Schools:* Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford
Intended major: PoliSci or international relations,
Similarities: Top ranked polisci schools, and HYPSM.
Harvard
Pros:
- Prestige. It's harvard, you can't get much more prestigious
-Cambridge is def the kind of size of town I'm looking for I'm looking for
-renowned polisci program especially with the JFK school
Cons: - Potentially the price tag. There are many conflicting sources on what the price is, and how much aid exists
-I'm worried about the potential rich kid culture, but again I'm not sure how relevant this is.
Stanford
Pros:
-#1 polisci program nationally (USnews thinks so, at least)
-finally, some warm weather
-culture likely better than harvard
Cons:
- Price, but for sure this time. Even if tuition is manageable, housing in the bay area sure won't be
- too far from home for my tastes, admittedly not the biggest problem
Princeton
Pros:
-No loan is huge
-similar to harvard in polisci level
- smaller class size and better student:faculty ratio
Cons:
-still a little bit of the "ivy culture" stigma
-not quite as good as the others for polisci (found no sources putting it at #1)
Tiebreaking considerations:
- smaller class size is going to be better for me, just personal preference
- more politically liberal the area, the better to me. Shouldn't be a problem given that it's sf, Boston, and nj but still
Thanks for the help!
