#Northwestern (2022-2023)
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
I don't think so. ISP is pretty selective itself. I'd only apply if you are interested in the program
Interview later today🥲
making my interviewer fly to atlanta to be a guest speaker for my school's coding club
dedication
You could always zoom
nah im lying hes going to atlanta anyway
Northwestern should be Northmidwestern CMW
interview done XD🥳
Ayy congrats 🥳
Anyone applying regular have their interview yet
long long ago
yeah
Mine is next week!
in December
Northwestern
anyone’s interviewer asked them why RD not ED too 🤡
yeah thats like asking what someones top choice is
Is everyone like rich
Idk what they expect
“Yeah let me throw myself at an awesome but expensive school without any way to get out of it”
that’s sussy
they’re trying to say ur poor in their report
im gonna get no aid but also my parents arent gonna pay so im just kinda screwed
i would just say that you don’t feel comfortable financially committing to a school without deciding on the right financial packages
Funny part is my parents are fairly well off and I’m not getting need-based but they are giving me very little (which is still appreciatecbut yk
same
i wonder if interviews are given priority based on region as well
i requested an interview on the day it was due
is there a possibility that i may still get one ?
Probably not atp
did yall get the ISP email
naw the integrated science program
lol
i think only kids who applied for science got the email
Yeah, it sounded like it went out to all science and math applicants
Maybe! I requested one in the first 20 minutes and just received an interview request on Wednesday
yep
I'm not a science applicant but still got it
💀
yeah i got one and i applied cs
I didn’t get it and I applied engineering
anyone get the isp email?
ah yeah same
this tho
it does not in any way reflect your chances of general admission
did you apply math
Ah
Northwestern I promise I wanted to get this email track my demonstrated interest of moving it from junk to inbox 🙏
Yeah I got this
Nope
Nope
I want to apply but I really don't want to write anymore essays
Atleast the deadline is in March
Nah I’m not doing it I cba
same lol
but if i get into isp and get rejected from NU
thats pain
Is this even possible?
nah isp is more selective than NU
there’s no way to get into ISP without getting into nu
you can get into nu without isp tho
do u think it helps your chances at getting in
demonstrated interest maybe?
k i’ll do it then
does NW consider interest ?
yes… which i found out abt a day b4 submitting 💀
I signed up for their virtual events but missed all of them. Does that still count?
how would that count, ISP seems to be completely different from the admissions dept.
I just learned something hilarious
Apparently last year, someone applied to northwestern and their counselor suggested asserting that uchicago was inferior (or something like that) on their why northwestern essay
So they got rejected, and they got their feedback from admissions revealing that the only reason they got rejected, was because they talked about uchicago☠
My counselor would never hear from me again-
Somehow they still talk
I think it is
At least it shows you're interested
that’s so sad
now i’m glad i took harvard out of that one ec
i said harvard-smithsonian minor planet center
changed it to IAU minor planet center
😭
😭😭😭😭
Yeah it's really stupid
Same counselor tried to do the same stuff to my friend
This time it was lehigh to johns hopkins
Meaning he didn't learn anything from that, thankfully we talked about it and I helped her revise her essay
She ended up going to johns hopkins actually, at least that one wasn't sabotaged
But it's the sister now who almost got messed up with lehigh
By the same counselor
Yup
wait why would that be bad?
i did the same thing, am i screwed?
i doubt colleges care if u did work at another uni
ur good. some colleges are SILLY to the point where seeing another college’s name makes them want to jump off a bridge
😭 wtf
thats so childish
i mentioned stanford in some of the other schools why us essays, hopefully im not fucked
did anyone else get interview requests from NW like 2 days after submitting the app, but then they never followed up?
im p sure ppl at my school did interviews for ED round
but i havent heard back from them
i think you’re good but schools that care really heavily about yield and demonstrated interest would be iffy about it most likely
think if you mentioned you loved Harvard in a CWRU supplemental
nah :( i haven’t even gotten an interview yet
Oh no, I meant like mentioning an internship I did at another university, which inspired me to pursue xyz at Harvard
i think i would include the name if it’s notable
and you talk about how the school you’re applying to’s program better accommodated your interests
Harvard knows they don’t have competition
(I would assume)
Given how much time it's been, it's okay to reach out to them again if you'd like!
oh hey you exist again 😭
yaaaay ant is back
lol
but i think its only considered or sth lol
ok good lol
ye
considered only
sadly* 🥲
ig u gotta focus more on ur essays for NU along with ur academic things
good
how do you get 0.5 of a dub
deferral = .5 dub
how do u distinguish between 3 deferrals (so 1.5 dubs) and 1 deferral 1 acceptance (also 1.5 dubs) 🤡
does the dub system not care about this
i might adopt the dub system
Hey there!
Hi!
So I took an interviewer with a Northwestern interviewer who was really nice but she was like, "oh so did you apply to a lot of other schools" and that totally caught me off guard, I was like "oh yeah many schools but Northwestern is definitely up there" 💀
Lmao did you expound on why
Not that it probably would've made a big difference
If you did then double W
I said that there's a huge margin of intl students and that would really help me especially with my interested major in economics (connecting major with a future career working with international businesses)
¯_(ツ)_/¯
what a weird question lol
oh yeah and btw i did NOT know anything about intl students until after the interview when i actually researched it 💀
so i completely like did a coin toss with that
i swear interviewers arent allowed to ask about other schools
😬
Yeah she was like "so how was the college search going" and I was like, "It has been really chaotic but also really exciting and energizing"
Then she was like, so is Northwestern your top choice or did you apply to many schools?
And I said I applied to many schools all across, but Northwestern is at the top 💀
imagine if u said “northwestern is my safety rn”
if i actually tho 💀
and then the interviewer responds “and we’re just interviewing you in case no good students apply”
lmao
"ur my safety applicant"
💀
fr
I applied just bc no app fee 🙂🙂🙂
anyone know if they’re still doing interviews
My interview is this week
i did
No :(
Good luck!
And good luck!
Anyone from Michigan receive an interview yet?
Thanks!
can i see the email? if u dont mind?
I applied RD btw she just wrote the wrong thing
did any nj students get interviews?
i didnt
but keep in mind i didnt get any interviews from any other schools so...
any intls got interviewed?
No:(
yeap
the duality of man
schrödinger's interview
best analogy
can I also do a Schrödinger’s decision letter
If I don’t open it’s not a rejection right? Right?
if you don’t open it they spam your email til you do 💀
looks like we got into northwestern ||(and not)||
we play hard to get
If I don’t open my email then?
reeeeeeeeeeeeeejected
i used to think colleges going radio silent was a good thing
til i started getting rejected 💀
Ok i can't be sure if I am high (on methomatics), but if you dont open it it is both half an acceptance and half a rejection, that is the equivalent of a deferral, you are basically deferring your decision till the time you open the letter, hence, it is equal to a 0.5 dub, therefore the dubs method of calculating acceptances is proved
@agile spruce ur system works
agreed
since I see a lot of ppl stressing abt interviews
someone from my school applied ed and got in w/out an interview
idk if it means much but just don’t freak out too much
i suppose thats kinda mostly since they dont need to do interview to confirm yield
so true
i feel like so far all of my outside activities have centered around climate change and environmental science but i really like bio more 😭
Anyone familiar with ISP admission? How strict is "four years of science" for ISP? Kiddo didn't have any left to take senior year. He did some high school PLTWs and Honors classes in 8th grade, tho.
Sadly no :<
I literally wrote abt it lol
Glad they asked for an additional essay hehe 🙃
I don’t think they’re necessarily strict, and you could always explain that he took them all already
I double blocked my science so I completely get that
Internet service provider?
Integrated science program.
he's still on the fence about applying to ISP
I think whether he decides to apply or not there are still fantastic science programs at Northwestern, I just see ISP as a chance to explore research with mentors a bit more
I think what ISP roughly tries to do is develop a research group for you to hop in freshman year, both with mentors and students
That’s what a lot of these scholarly extra programs try to do
there’s still plentiful opportunities to join a research group even if he doesn’t apply
Yeah, I see ISP as a more hands-on practical experience with like-minded folks in a closer-knit setting. He’s still waiting to hear if he even got into NU at all, but I wanted to just get some perspective for myself and maybe pass some of it on to him.
Thanks for the replies:)
No problem!
oh actually yeah does anyone know if northwestern is easy to switch majors, like from enviro science to bio or something
^
Chip is right, changing majors at NU is very easy unless you're trying to do something in Bienen.
If you're changing major within your school, all you need to do is fill out 1 form.
And if you need to change undergrad schools, that's also very easy. You just have to meet with your advisor, tell them, and fill out the necessary forms.
The only exception is Bienen or the Theatre major in School of Communication as there's auditions you'll have to do for Bienen, and it's not guaranteed. For Theater, it's the only major at NU you have to come in as a first-year to do, so you can't do it later unfortunately.
Environmental Science to Bio is 100% doable though, especially as they're both in Weinberg.
What’s NW rd acc rate
What about cs?
No issues at all, it's totally doable. CS is in both Weinberg and McCormick at NU, so if you are already in one of those schools, you can switch to CS automatically. If you prefer to be in one of the other schools over the other and aren't in it, all you have to is meet your advisor, tell them, and fill out the corresponding forms.
According to the Common Data Set for the Class of 2025, it was around 5.14%.
That seems wild, is there some cap on how many people can do it then they deny the rest of the apps
Not at all, there's no cap outside of the majors that are application-based, but CS isn't one of them, and there aren't many majors that cap.
The only ones I'm aware of that cap are Creative Writing, Theatre, American Studies, and everything in Bienen.
im surprised creative writing is capped
i should have thought more about school im applying to
cuz i kinda want to do weinberg CS and not mccormick
😭
guys are interviews supposed to be just 10 minutes 💀
It's mainly because they want each section to have 15 or less people so that we can workshop our stories better and work with the English department.
While that is on the shorter side, I definitely don't think you should worry as interviews are not a huge part of the process.
It is 100% okay for an interview to be short as long as you all covered everything.
skull
appreciate the thorough explanation!! I’ll keep that in the back of my mind until college app szn for my year…. 🥹
northwestern does interviews for internationals or nah?
Good luck!
And they do!
hopefully I get one soon ‼️
Good luck!
Finally got my interview! Kinda stressed becuase it’s either tomorrow or wednesdta and I have no preparation😭
Do they focus a lot on why NU?
NWestern
Uh yeah there was a registration form sent out a long time ago, if you didn’t fill it out I’m assuming that’s why you didn’t get an interview.
Just got a confirmation from NW saying I won’t be getting an interview 😐
same
I registered a while ago
i’m lowkey glad though i didn’t want to anyways
looking thru my emails i don’t see one
Same here
it’s ok i actually forgot i applied i was sleep deprived and it was 11:58 the day it was due (they gave me a fee waiver)
😭 me too
You had to click on an email they sent a while ago to qualify, and then they only sent the email if you are not eligible in your region
Little salty lol but at the same time figured my small town doesn’t have many alumni lol
same
nah i didn’t even get an email to register 😭
:((
They mention we can email additional parts of our story to them, should I take them up on it?
Would it be weird to send them an extra essay or something because I had a really good essay about speech and debate that I’d love to send to them haha.
i feel like an autoreject
nah… it was first come first serve
also you still get DI points
when does northwestern rd come out?
yeah even if you did a day late they ran out, but I eventually did get one
I did it literally an hour after they sent it lmaooo probably less actually
i did it on the last day knowing damn well i didn’t have any alumni in my area anyway 💀
Nah I live in a small town literally only one kid from my school has ever gone to northwestern he’s still there I believe.
same but not the last part
thats probably why then
nobody has gotten in or applied to NU before
i signed up within two minutes of the interview request email 😭
Manifesting for you then 🙏
why are they closing off interviews so early
i have no clue
they have a dealine
Yeah idk Harvard is still doing interviews throughout February I believe
early feb??
my dartmouth interviewer said he needs to submit by early feb
i don’t think the deadline would be early feb
oh huh
what
😶
doesnt mean you cant still get one
ik someone who got it like 2 weeks before admission
I got one. however, my interviewer has not responded
💀
Did anyone else get something like this
Is there any possibility this means they’ve already looked at my application and decided no LMAO
Okay my bad
Just saw all the other ones people sent disregard me 🙏
yup
same
you don’t need to
lol just wanna get in as many places as i can
Chill lol I got in ed signed up for interview and they didn't even interview me
Crazy how stuff works!
congrats!
yea same
Me wishing to get an interview cuz i did tons of research 😭😭😭
How do u know?
They sent emails
To like everyone left to get an interview
they’re done assigning interviews
you won’t get one if you haven’t gotten one yet
bruh i didnt even get the email to sign. upfor an interview
wait wat 🥲
i think
i did a form or in commonapp abt the interview
so
if u havent gotten the email or the interview
does that mean there still be chances?
if there was interview option i fs ticked it
they robbed me
i checked common app there was no interview option there
they just didnt slide thru with the email i guess
np
no !!!
Yeah cuz I didn’t do the interview I feel like I don’t have a chance, even though I’d argue my resumes pretty solid and maybe potentially had a 9% chance of making it. Now I doubt if
any deferrals here?
you don’t need an interview to get in
Ik but it feels like it doesn’t show interest
i filled on some early dec still i got this
If you don't get an interview, it doesn't penalize against you, so it definitely isn't!
Interviews really only harm you if you are offered, and you refuse to take the offer.
so, i ended up sending an update letter since i wasn’t able to be offered an interview
would this be fine/aid me the same way an interview would but a bit more concretely?
Hmm 🤔 sounds like good idea ngl
Also
Fun fact: isnt calypso that girl who got wrongfully punished cuz her dad (a Titan) got involved into a war with gods -greek myth lol
yes
also a lemonade drink
Just had my interview! She was so lovely, I think this was honestly my nicest interview so far! (Out of 3)
Congratulations!!! That’s very cool
Glad to hear it went well!
I haven’t been invited yet for an interview with the program staff for MS EDI. So do they invite everyone or only those who have been selected?
and is it possible to be selected without the interview?
“Candidates may be invited for an interview”
You’re fine I would assume
You're fine if you don't get an interview. You're only penalized if you are offered an interview, and you refuse.
Hi, is anyone done with their interview with the program director for EDI? What was your experience like? My interview is next week.
Do the interviewers know anything about you? Like do they get sent anything about you beforehand?
Mine knew nothing about me
they know the school you go to and your name, that’s it.
when is css due for regular decision?
It was due Feb 1
ok bet
how do you know they received the css profile?
you will
it just might take longer to get your package
if you submit today you can likely get it by march
and/or april
oh idk
i was just saying to be sure
ok good
nah they automatically process it
if you get in and it doesn’t come after a few weeks, then that’s when I’d call/email
i’m in the situation where i don’t have $200+ on hand to send css but i just got paid
so i’m probably going to do that tonight (would send fafsa ASAP though)
Ah ok
Has anyone received an email about ISP program and applying to it?
nah ur the only one who got it, congrats! it's basically a likely
💀
really??
didn’t all science applicants get one like 3 weeks ago 😭
Nope, it's for all worthy prospects who northwestern wants in
rllly damn
fuck
i thk a few on this thread got that isp email…anyone who did ap chem and ap physics gets it i thk…def not a likely
nope it is 393289282% a likely, my friends who got into isp all got that email and they actually will send a customized airplane with a banner that says YOU GOT INTO NORTHWESTERN alongside a personal horse
no stable included tho
^^
ohhh ok that makes sense bc i was like im a poli sci major 💀
what?? i didnt get it
i took both classes
😭 guess im an auto reject
Not at all! There are people who get rejected ISP but get into the school!
While it may mean you didn't get ISP, you still have a chance to get into NU.
lol with NU's 5% acc rate i feel l i dont have a chance
I hear you on this, with schools like these, even the best candidates will get rejected unfortunately, and it's not the applicant's fault. There is a huge element of luck, and the process is not meritocratic at all.
That said, there's still about a month till RD decisions drop, so things can 100% change.
Lol
Not saying its a likely cus it isnt
but I didnt take either and got it
I took Calc AB and Bio, self studied BC and Comp Sci A
I think they just send to all engineering applicants though
yeah see im completely humanities-focused and my app has zero science stuff like not even a stem rec (except for taking ap bio, chem, calc ab & bc and my scores on them) and i still got the email
and they were like "i understand that you are interested in studying math or science" like what 😃
yeah i think they sent it to pretty much everyone
although my personal horse did come in the mail, and i was notified my northwestern airplane was on its way
(still couldn’t offer me an interview, unfortunately)
kid applied CS, got the ISP email. He
is stil on the fence about looking into it tho
I applied econ and haven't done science courses in two year but got the ISP mail lol
yep
lol
ppl, me, be thinking that im special cuz i got the isp email 🥲
but its good cuz i mentioned it in my app essay 😉
whats that lol
hey my friend is wondering if applying for ISP and NUPSP makes an applicant look more interested, or if it has an effect like Brown PLME (extremely difficult to get into)
or does it have no effect on admission chances?
I don't know much about NUPSP unfortunately, but ISP decisions and decisions from NU itself are separate.
Getting rejected from ISP does not ruin your chances to get into NU.
Good luck to your friend!
thanks! i have no clue what any of it is haha, he just asked me to ask here
would getting into ISP help your app?
like, would they even see if you applied to ISP?
They won't, the process is separate!
However, I believe you can't get into ISP without getting into NU first.
No problem!
I’m in AP Chem and didn’t get it 😢
mb check spam?
Nothing
oh then i suggest not to worry about it
Probably sure it doesn't guarantee admission
Does Northwestern admit students early for regular decision like some other schools??
Could someone please confirm if you got an email confirmation from northwestern after submitting the interview interest form? I don't remember whether or not I applied 😭
did everyone get a rural student experience mail ?
i did
I did
I think I actually might attend
as someone from a silly rural area
I did as well. I think that it maybe went out to everyone who marked that they live in a rural area. Maybe not though
not sure
they sent out the first gen email to everyone
even if they werent first gen
I got the rural email and I definitely don't live in a rural area, a suburb, but not rural
^^^ same
i got the rural email too but i think it's bc i indicated that i was a rural and small town scholar
thank you NU for giving me a fee waiver for that:))))
I got it too, but I live in an urban city 💀 💀
think it was given to everyone
i signed up for DI
since i didn’t get an interview
or rather i signed up for an interview and didn’t get one
NU tracks DI
yes same
i wouldn’t go if it doesn’t benefit you
like i would feel wrong attending an event for first gen if i wasn’t first gen
just for DI
i signed up because my parents don’t like NU and i’m trying to convince them to let me go
- rural area
i got
i live in oklahoma
which is arguably rural ig
Think everyone got it
does attending these events help demonstrate interest?
i live in the most urban place and got it lol
Same lol
Can you sign up for these events and don't go? Zoom doesn't work here so I can't go even if I want to
Oh! Alright!
Yes, but maybe not if it's an event not meant for you. Like attending a first gen event as a non first gen
Arguably they'd never bother to even check whether you belong or not and it would help all the same. But there may be some risk to your interest looking fake
Did Northwestern have an interview interest form?
Yes
you can’t anymore
they sent it out a month ago for 3 days
if you didn’t reply within like 10 minutes u didn’t get one
but they still noted you requested one on your app and they weren’t able to accommodate
lol
L
DAMN are yall fr
im glad i obsessively check email
also are interviews just for demonstration of interest
ye
btw i wouldn’t go to a rural/first gen event if you aren’t either
just for di
if you conveyed it we’ll enough on ur why NU essay
you’re more than fine
i’m gonna go to the rural thing bc i have the collegeboard award ig
does being from a rural state confer any advantage admissions wise at northwestern, then? (all else being equal)
the nation rural and small town scholars might have a tiny advantage
it maybe provides an excuse for bad ECs
got me a fee waiver
W same
im prob not gonna get in anyways because everyone and their mom applied but its nice to have some copium
i thought nu didnt track demonstrated interest
it’s considered
Rice and Northwestern are the t20s that do track DI I think
oh well i was planning on emailing them soon anyway and my parents arent letting me tour
i already interviewed and went to their high school visit
couldnt have changed much
That’s probably better than most people already
take a flight and go visit AO
it's joever
Quick question
I updated my application portal with a non academic LOR, is it too late to do that? I applied RD
No
Thanks
Hi did anyone get interviewed by the program director for their Northwestern university EDI interview? How was it ? What were you asked?
do i need to sign up for this thing for rural students if i’m a rural student?
Yeah
If you think you could gain any useful knowledge from it, beyond that I don’t see a reason to since they’d understand if someone not from those backgrounds didn’t feel the need to attend
is there a restriction on the questions to be asked on the panels? because one of mine got skipped over
does the university have some rules on what can be answered? lol
im guessing they get more questions than they have time to answer, so they choose the ones that they feel like would be most helpful
however they might have some questions they are told to avoid, but i imagine thats not super common
In an info session rn, just disclosed that they accept 50% ED and RD
1,000
i just didn't see a lot when I was there though so I was so confused why all of mine were getting skipped over lol. I feel like its more the latter, that they cant answer some of the "controversial" ones
yeah roughly half the class is from ED and half RD
what was ur question lol
Do you feel supported by your white peers and teachers? and One of them was in a Sorority so I asked what it was like being black in that kind of culture
i also asked about discrimination on campus and how its dealt with
nah same tho and i always have my email opened... 🥲
So I'm a Northwestern student, and honestly, discrimination on-campus is dealt with super poorly here in my opinion.
It's one of the worst aspects of our school, and I really hate how terribly it is dealt with.
I do think it is worth noting that most people I know at Northwestern really like it here and find the school a good fit, so I am very much in the minority for disliking the school, but I honestly really dislike it here and don't really recommend the school to anyone.
Why do you dislike the school?
^
did you come from a specific background? I’m a 17 yo girl from a rural, impoverished hs
and i’m kinda worried about being in the chicago/evanstown area but i love northwestern’s programs
Here's some messages I've sent here in the past talking about it, but I did want to give you all a heads up there is a ton of triggering content, and I am super sorry about that. If it's a problem, please feel free to know, and I will try to summarize without explicitly mentioning the triggering content:
#🛩-lounge-chat message (Part 1)
#🛩-lounge-chat message (Part 2)
#🛩-lounge-chat message (Part 3)
@mint geyser @marsh gorge
I didn't, but I will say that while I may have a bad experience here, most people I know here really do love it, so if you're interested and think the school could be a good fit, I think it's understandable for you to apply. I just wanted people to hear the perspective of someone who has had a terrible time here because I rarely saw information about these issues NU has online, and it caused me to make a really bad decision to turn down a school I thought could be a better fit for me.
For all the bad things about the school, some of the upsides are that the classes are really good, and most of the professors are really good as well.
There's lots of vast course offerings, which is awesome if you want to explore different subjects or mix them together.
man, another reason to not do greek life
Does this attitude at NU extend to LGBTQ peeps or are we talking strictly about racial issues?
As a LGBTQIA+ person myself, I have found NU mostly to be okay with LGBTQIA+ support. We have a long way to go, and we do need to keep improving as we do have some issues as there definitely can be students here who are discriminatory unfortunately. However, most students often disapprove of discriminatory people, and there is a pretty high LGBTQIA+ population.
I was not a part of Greek life!
I'm very anti-Greek life but 100% agree with you that I don't think people should do it personally.
One thing I tried to research was the % of people who participated in Greek life on any given campus
always preferred lower numbers
I will say although NU has serious issues with their Greek life, and in spite of my issues with the student body and the admin, I think things thankfully seem like they will get better.
People's attitudes towards it have changed very quickly. When I came in, there was a surprising amount of support for it, but now, almost everyone I know dislikes it, and there's only a very small portion of the student body doing it.
Yeah, we still have a long way to go, but it seems like more and more people disapprove of Greek life ever since I first transferred here last fall.
The admin still is very pro-Greek life unfortunately, which I hate, but the student body seems to be becoming more anti-Greek life.
yeah my interviewer said discrimination wasn't that good
well he kinda skirted around the topic to make the school sound good
I'm so sorry to hear your interviewer had terrible experiences in regards to that too.
but i knew what he meant
idk if he had personal experiences but hes a nigerian american so if it's as bad as you say then probably
he did say it's getting better
I'm so sorry to hear he didn't have good experiences here.
I'm not Black, so I can't speak to what that is like, but I am Asian American, and in my experience here, I would agree NU's admin has some big problems with Anti-Blackness and discrimination towards Indigenous Americans.
i mean i think overall he had a good experience but he did kinda skirt around the diversity topic
like he had a good enough experience he decided to stay connected and do alumni interviews
I appreciate the response 🙂
and advertised for it afterwards when he spoke for my schools coding club
No problem, if you do end up going to NU, I hope your experience is much much better than mine.
I'm so sorry, I just realized you're a Master's grad!
but yeah inclusivity is a big criterion for me so it sucks to hear this about one of my top choices
That was silly of me, but nevertheless, I hope you're doing well!
And I hope you enjoyed undergrad and grad school!
I really hope you're able to find an inclusive and safe place for you!
the positives of greek life are so fricking sparse, like i get people do it to meet people and make friends but I feel like you get more meaningful relationships by just joining organizations then living in a house with x amount of girls and having to be subject to a house full of probably drunk boys where literally everything that can go wrong has a higher chance of going wrong 😭
Bruh in regards to nu and indigenous people, i feel like so many unis are performative af about such issues
Like they make this big deal about being on their land but it’s just talking and no action is actually done to support them
Oh, yes, haha, I was asking for some kids I know quite well who have applied and fit the demographic
Best of luck to them!
I’ll be rooting for them all.
👍 ❤️
i applied for a panel but accidentally fell asleep :( should i still try to attend and/or will this be counted against me
nvm, still clicked the link
i was gonna go but received some bad news so i didn’t
I think you'll be okay!
yup it worked out
They likely don't expect someone who signed up to show up, and signing up does demonstrate interest.
Very glad to hear that!
they sent me an email with a bunch of resources (i did end up showing up)
That's awesome!
Glad you got to attend.
Gosh I showed all my DI sophomore year so I haven’t attended anything.. are there upcoming virtual events I can attend?
maybe? I’m not entirely sure but you can check their page
they recently had a black students one and today was their rural one
appreciated @agile spruce

there’s another link but i accidentally sent my uuid
it’s called purple talk? or something
you can find it on their website
it’s a 1:1 info session
yep
y’all think there are info sessions after this week? i have stuff w school on a trip all this week and dk if i’ll have time to join one now :(
pro tip: you don’t need to actually participate
💀
if you register, and click the link they gave you
it counts as you attended
but don’t tell them i told you that
i did the one today and they sent me a bunch of resources and said they’re glad to be in touch and would like to keep being in touch
hit the jackpot
DI jackpot right there
ooh ok yayayay
yes
yayayay
💀
do we know when decision day is this year or nah
24
DAMN
bro someone in the engineering info session rlly asked if they track demonstrated interest and said they love McCormick in the same sentence 💀
Least desperate and most tactful a2c person
you gotta be tactful but that’s not being tactful smh
The person running the info said they had no clue and told them to ask admissions
they likely don’t track more than you signing up
Since they weren’t part of admissions 💀
and clicking the link to attend
the ISP app is going to be a nightmare
im planning on grinding it saturday
I was being sarcastic with my comment btw
Fr?
A month left😭
What a bunch of chads to give us the release date a month in advance
Fr , everyone else says april 1
There’s Ivy day ig
And then pi day for MIT
But the rest of schools usually keep us guessing
does it have a release time
No too far in advance
kk
MIT would rather have the math joke than enough days to review applications
wait it literally is 20 days
tbh they probably have more than enough days
day 2 they click delete on half the applications
so true
reject all below 770 math sat
sorry did you apply
😔 yes
oh:( best of luck, i knew my dumbass wasn’t getting in💀💀
same
im gonna get rejected
i didnt apply to hypsm lolz
from where
oh dw so will thousands of other ppl including me
but im chillin anyways, I’ll probably go to my ea school
where
gatech
same💀already got deferred from ed
well if ur safeties have good finaid then you’re chillin too
i applied to hypm
someone from my school going to princeton💀
already have a dartmouth and a princeton commit
and i’m here like:
🧍♀️
same
yayyyy
can’t wait to get rejected
i want that sweet northwestern acceptance tho i love northwestern
or waitlisted… then rejected from waitlist
slow death
i’d never get off waitlist
i need aid
SAME
Bruh i already got deferred from my ed so what if i get waitlisted, then slowly rejected from waitlist in like JULY or some shit
a whole pregnancy almost
idek
isn’t may 1 commit day
whats that stand for?
ya but waitlist might take a while
yhh i think
Harvard Yale Princeton MIT
I’ve got HPSM
Fuck New Haven
Actually my reach schools are HPSMNDRV and “low” reaches are SC and CM
I should have applied to more 😭
i like the acronym
Lmao
maybe 😭
- dartmouth
cornell columbia caltech
i see
HPSM Columbia Northwestern Duke something Vanderbilt
what’s R
oh wait
still what’s r
Rice
ohhhhh
Yup you got those right
And then USC and CMU are kinda reach ig
And Tulane and NEU bc of their stupid games
Yup
6% acceptance rate 94% community college
For fucking northeastern
It's insane
Idk I'm probably not gonna get into more than one of my reaches, if any. But I wouldn't know unless I tried
In that sense yes. I applied for marshall which was probably about 4%, and I got deferred ofc. But it's not the same type of reach if yk what I mean. My stats are well above their averages like w northeastern and tulane too. It's a reach bc it's popular and not bc it's a top school
But the cumulative acceptance rate for EA and RD is like 10% so it's still overall a slightly easier admit than my other reaches
wait is that confirmed?
Yes it is per the portal
how
is rd acp rate higher than ea then?
Sorry guys but im praying for this LMAO
Reject non 800 tbh
yes because usc uses EA in a weird way
ic ic
no
rejected all below 780
please
i got 780 5x
Imagine giving 5 times
i am 800 scorer trust me
i cancelled 3
And still getting 780 math 😂
Smh
smh
lol
Yeah. It will be a little over 7%
They accepted 2400/40600 EA. And then RD will be about 5500/75000
Ed to nu is like 25%
Is this usc
12.5% total i think?
from last year's class
fr
Yeah USC
should've ed to nu or cornell 🥲
not duke just cuz i went to its summer program and i like basketball lol
ye
i shouldve done northwestern ed but im probably only going to go if i get isp
ye fr
I have legacy but didn't ED to NU 😭
i mean
dartmouth is a strategic ed too
my friend got 3 generation of legacy
got straight rejection from duke lol
with like around 75th stats for both sat and gpa
They deferred me
great EC
They deferred fucking everyone
my friend applied to darthmouth woman's study lol
Shit essays will do that to a mf
hmmm idk
💀
his essays are prob fine i'd say
but smh tho
imagine 3 generations of legacy
his dad even owned a bar at the duke's campus 🥲
and his kid got rejected lol
rip
Well if the 3 generations aren't making big ass donations
Then it doesn't mean too much ig
alot lol
his grandad made some contributions
his dad just regularly comes to duke, talks with ppl and donate some stuff
That's insane then
fr tho lol
if you are blatantly arrogant in your essays it happens
True
mb mb idk
but he got accepted into unc tho
rivalry goes crazy
ooo
I second that
That's gonna cause a rift in his family
lol
his sister got in with same stats and stuff
he didnt lol
now he might go to unc
duke doesnt allow that lol
we both tried trust me 🥲
fr 💀
imagine going to the duke vs unc basketball game
just to find ur twin on the other team
u gotta call iso for every possession to settle the beef lol
fr
crazy but fun experience lol
if you got a lot of money its easy to let that stuff get to your head
seen it happen firsthand
hmmm
well
i got lucky
cuz my family wasnt initially well off
we're just mid
Someone I know made 2m from a business he started
then now we're slightly higher mid lol
2m profit???
Yale ain't want it 😭
💀
Yea it was game development
yeah nah i understand but like ive seen some really posh looking essays 💀
The kid fixed up his shit for rd tho
me omw to tell my kid with a 5.0 weighted gpa, 1600 sat, nobel price in physics, found the latest element in the periodic table that he'll get rejected by harvard
true
Cuz is Yale app was just one dimensional
just 1600?
damn
calypsonium just discovered
W
lol
JUST 1600 yes
smh
dark matter found by u but u cant find urself the acceptance letter from harvard
to score a test on
