Depending on field, you can get hired as a TA after freshman year (source: was a TA sophomore year in CS), but it "only" pays ~1k a month, and it's a non-negligible amount of work. Also, depending on field, summer jobs can be quite lucrative. As a CS major, it's decently common to be pulling ~50/h for summer jobs (~25-30k for a summer), and if you go after quant, you can (if you're really good) pull up to 100/h in some internships. For comparison, Caltech SURF program (summer research here) pays ~6-7k for the summer, just above minimum wage (15-17/h) assuming a 40h work week

Which part? Most CS jobs do care a medium amount that you’re qualified at coding, but I’ve seen plenty of physics majors pivot into cs and math jobs. However, if you want a high paying physics theory job, that’s gonna be a bit more of a problem and might require a phd. TA jobs are generally within the department, but if you did really well in the class, you can usually ask the prof to TA (assuming they hire undergrad TAs) and you’ll get it regardless of department

That's how i will get rejected, because they might not look at olympiad stuff before they see that SAT is missing 🥹
