I don’t think it really matters if ur not jewish. It’s like saying how is it at BC if ur not catholic
Brandeis is more popular for their social science and research departments
From what I’ve heard, it’s actually pretty diverse there. I’m Asian and there are a lot clubs for people like me. In terms of religion I’m not sure, judaism is probably the majority there tho, but there is a muslim student association on campus
is there anyone who’s currently at Brandeis majoring in cs? I have questions
You should go to Brandeis’s connect with current student page, I think there r cs major students on there
Hello!
I am
from the listing it had on the website i assumed so
i got that one and the 20k merit scholarship a year (which i think is the max)
i hope i’m making sense rn
same
lol i got no aid tho so its still 62k a year
skull
All Brandeis admits have you received an email back from them congratulating you on your admission or they haven’t contacted you yet ???
same
anyone in here majoring in cs at brandeis?? i have questions
Yooo forgot to say congrats to all the new Brandeis admits!!!
did anyone else get a call just now
from brandeis
congratulating you and telling you to think about going to their admitted students events
You can ask @lost adder he helped me
Average cost at Brandeis is 55 I believe
the aid is really good
I know I was panicking when I saw my aid from other colleges. This is somehow cheaper than Umass amherst
Do you think you'll commit?
Yes I already committed lol
Any of you going to admitted students event?
I already toured but do u think going to the event is important?
im going just for funsies honestly
umass amherst aid is so dogshit
Wooooo
Considering going, I’m taking a gap year tho so idk if it’s worth it
I would go but it’s all during school days and I have work during weekend
Brandeis gave me no aid other than loans and my efc is around 56k. 😭
for the alumni and friends grant I got like 55k. So I’m worried that after the first year I might need to pay more lol
i went last year. it's more so for ppl who haven't committed yet
Oh ok that makes sense
I went to one, it’s pretty much a longer tour and there’s merch. I recommend going if you’re in the area
Only if ur income increases
free merch?
Tote bag and t shirt
is it the owl tote bag
I’m driving to boston for the Friday event lmao
I thought it said registration opens on that day? I’m not sure what they mean by that, is it course registration or registering for Brandeis?
do you guys know if electric hot pot is allowed in dorms?
hi! is anyone going to brandeis right now open to answering some questions i have?
if yall got questions about wlatham and the surrounding area lmk lmfao
Yup
Just means sign in for the event
Nope it’s not allowed, r u the person who posted about trading food for transportation on Reddit btw 😭
What is Waltham like? Is it a historic town or ur average suburb? Is it safe to talk around in the morning or afternoon?
id say its a bit of both tho leaning more on average suburb, and yes its rpetty safe to walk around even at night
Nope lol
hope that person finds a buddy lol
Waltham is absolutely not historic Bruh. It’s just ur average Mass town. At least it’s not Worcester.
Is it a college town or more of a residence area
waltham is also in a pretty good location in Mass in general tbh
it's a neat town with some cool things
Okay I drove around Brandeis today, the campus isn’t bad at all lmao it’s way above my expectations 😭
Moody street looks cool too
I kinda like the campus too. Idk why others think it’s ugly
anyone going to the admitted students thing tomorrow?
im going to the saturday one
I am!
did anyone else here get in for the mid year program?
yay maybe i’ll see u :))
Are you going to the CommUNITY thing?
Is anyone going to the community thing?
Cause I saw they give a free Uber voucher
And I was thinking of getting the most expensive Uber ride there
Could any current students at Brandeis describe their experience with the writing placement test? Also, what distinguishes the composition writing program from the university writing program?
Does it matter which one I get into? I assume the university one is more advanced?
@lost adder
So the composition writing program is an extra class you take to prepare you for University Writing Seminar
And you take the writing assessment to determine if you place into CSEM or UWS
but pretty much as long as you do it you get into UWS
I think like 85% or 90% get into UWS
Oh okay I see, tysm!
nah
do it
is Brandeis walkable to classes or do u need to take a bus.
And do we have to go home during breaks?
it's very walkable unless u live in village or grad but u wouldn't need to worry about that till sophomore year. only thing is the campus is uphill
only during winter break
but i think u can pay to stay. some ppl def do
Okay thank you
I have another question. How many courses do u usually take a semester
4-4.5
some courses give half credits like labs
silly little admitted students tours
@celest fern did u fr see me take the pic from the window
😭😭
ive been embarrassing myself in front of the all the tours today. one came by my building when i was taking out the trash and my hands were so full i dropped some
girl idek
i took it from the small window in the door so i didnt think anyone would see me but ye
r u on campus today @celest fern
i saw u say something about admitted students tho tho i think u r commited to northeastern
ye that's what i thought. congrats !!
ah makes sense
right there lol @celest fern
you just have to press the enroll now button and then you get the option
God I wish I could go here 😦 I just had the last finance convo with my mom and there really is no way I can
Same, the concern is that if my dad stops working before I’m done with school (which he likely will because of health stuff) I just straight up could not afford it anymore
My mom would still be making enough to the point where they likely still wouldn’t give me anything
isnt neu the same cost as brandeis
Same thing I was planning
I was gonna commute after
I was planning on cooping in Burlington
Help I accidentally sent the same email twice to the financial office. I’m so embarrassed
😭 do you think they’ll care
No they won’t
Thank god
Ye
when do u register for classes
I’m not committing
Okay
I’m just gonna go to Wednesday’s webinar and hope they’ll tell me
Oh okay
for the language requirement, do you think it's better to take a language you already know or take a new one
does signing up for a major and a minor cost more money and would it be more hard considering im gonna be working and studying?
Depends if you want to be a language/studies minor or if you have a strong interest in a certain language
For me, I had some previous knowledge in Chinese but didn't really want to pursue an EAS major/minor so I placed into CHIN 30 (the requirement level) and that's it
30k a semester is crazy
