Food is pretty good. There are tons of options, especially if you included Barnard (which tends to be healthier, but also annoyingly has calorie counts on everything)
I like JJ’s best bc I’m basic and love standard American food and Dino nuggets. Ferris is also really solid, and it’s especially great if you live in Carmen or Furnald.

As for NYC food, it’s great in general but expensive. Insomnia Cookies will break the bank if you let it. Koronett’s pizza is yum and their slices are huge. Trader Joe’s and Morton williams are a scam for groceries. It’s much better to shop at local markets, h mart, or small bodegas.

You need to be more specific. Arts and culture resources? Columbia wins hands down. Personalized attention from professors? Sure, Princeton edges out (I say “edges out” because Princeton ain’t no LAC). Balancing out the legacies and athletes. First year a wash. grad prospects are virtually the same for med school at either of them, only real difference in your case being that columbia has a med school which might translate into a very very slightly easier time finding shadowing/placements or whatever in the summer

#

can't go wrong with pton either, they have no med school but pretty damn good student research opportunities, though columbia is apparently known as a big big research school if you're into that sorta jam

#

just decide based on vibes, princeton isn't thaaaattttt far away from nyc if you just want day trips though i suppose nothing beats being slap bang in the centre of the city if you're into that

#

if i was in your position i'd probably take princeton ngl though that's coming from an applied math perspective where they're kinda undisputed, for med maybe columbia would be slightly better assuming you're dead-set on it bc the grade deflation isn't as bad and you'd probably have better chances for placements and stuff w the med school and all

I also chose between Columbia and Princeton. Princeton felt sleepy to me while Columbia felt right. I love theater, and I was also excited for the busyness and chaos of the city. It’s really up to you, it can be overwhelming to some and comforting to others. And I am from Little Rock for context.

so what i did was

the number of accepted ppl overall is roughly 2300

#

and rough class size per year is around 1650

#

so that assumes a yield rate of approx 71%

#

the yield rate for columbia in past years has been 65% approx

#

and this year i expect a bit lower because of the US news scandal

#

so my guess is approx 80 WL applicants being accepted

#

but from previous years and looking at the number of waitlisted people this year, it seems like they waitlist almost as much as they accept 💀

#

so guess we're looking at a waitlist acceptance rate of 4-5%
