Over the past few weeks, there's been traveling issues (especially from that huge blizzard) throughout the US, and Chinas having a massive covid crisis (and China happens to send a lot of apps), so that among other things is probably why so many are extending

The more I think about it, the less I believe they just want to pad their acceptance rates, they don't need more applicants anyways

There's just been a ton of disruption worldwide and they're probably trying to accomodate
